Ever since J. M. Barrie wrote the story of Peter Pan, audiences have been fascinated by the boy who never grows up on an island with pirates, mermaids, fairies, and lost boys. Peter Pan reminds audiences about the innocence of childhood while making them realize they don't have to completely lose that when they become adults.

In a rather bold movie, Disney+ has pulled several classic movies from children's profiles due to controversy over their "negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures." Last year, the streamer added a content warning to several of these movies, though they still remained available to stream on children's profiles. Now, children under 7 will no longer be able to access the movies Dumbo, Peter Pan, The Aristocats, and Swiss Family Robinson, though these titles are still available to stream on adult Disney+ profiles along with the disclaimer.

In the content warning featured at the start of these movies on the adult contents, Disney acknowledges the harmful stereotypes while explaining the decision to keep the movies available to watch. The statement reads, in part, "These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark...

With its theatrical window deal signed by AMC and Cinemark, Universal and Focus Features have continued to lead the struggling pandemic box office, as “The Croods: A New Age” earned its third straight No. 1 weekend and the studio’s seventh straight weekend atop the charts with $3 million from 2,115 screens.

Overseas, the film added $6.6 million in China and $8.4 across all overseas markets, including openings in Mexico and Ecuador. Globally, “Croods 2” now has a box office total of $76 million as Universal prepares to release the film as a premium video on-demand title in the coming week as part of its theatrical window deal. In a flood of announcements from Disney's annual investor day presentation, the studio also dropped that Peter Pan and Wendy is officially in pre-production and will skip theaters to premier exclusively on Disney+. When Disney rolled Mulan direct to streaming, it was positioned as an extraordinary measure, meant to help offset the effects on the studio of the ongoing global health crisis. Mulan was available only to subscribers and, only then, after those same subscribers paid an additional premium viewing fee. Los Angeles, Dec 6 (Ians) Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich has been acting and modelling since she was 10. Milla says she would be happy seeing her children take up acting as a career, although the idea is scary, too.

In fact, her daughter Ever Gabo Anderson has already starred in three films. Ever, 13, has featured alongside Milla in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and has also appeared in the upcoming films Black Widow and Peter Pan.

Disney+ has ordered a tv series that will serve as a sequel to Willow, Ron Howard and George Lucas’ 1988 fantasy film about a farmer who finds himself wrapped up in an epic journey. The streaming service announced the series order Tuesday.

Disney+ has provided Dumbo, Peter Pan, and other classic movies with a content advisory over "negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures." The streaming platform had originally put warnings ahead of a few older movies, but this is the first time actual content has been added in, which takes up 12 seconds. Newcomer Alyssa Wapanatâhk has closed a deal to make her feature film debut and play Tiger Lily in Disney’s “Peter Pan & Wendy,” an insider with knowledge of the project told TheWrap. Additionally, insiders add that this version of Tiger Lily is being reimagined for the new film.

Racist imagery and cultural stereotypes in six Disney animated classics including Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Lady and the Tramp, The Aristocats, Dumbo and Swiss Family Robinson are being flagged on the Disney+ streaming site with warnings and detailed explanations of the “negative depictions” in each title.

“These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,” reads an explanation on Disney’s Stories Matter website regarding the new advisory notices.

Accompanying the 1970 film The Aristocats, for example, is the following advisory about the Siamese cat character Shun Gon, voiced by Paul Winchell:

The cat is depicted as a racist caricature of East Asian peoples with exaggerated stereotypical traits such as slanted eyes and buck teeth. He sings in a poorly accented English voiced by a white actor and plays the piano with chopsticks. Disney Plus has added a new content warning label on several classic animated movies, including “Peter Pan,” “Dumbo,” “Fantasia” and “Lady and the Tramp.”

Last year, the streaming service added content warnings to content considered to have outdated depictions that appeared as a smaller text box on screen. The updated disclosure appears when a user clicks on the film, with the label lasting onscreen for about 10 seconds.

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures,” the new label reads. “These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe.”

Peter Pan was a passion project for Walt Disney and is often considered his favorite original feature. Adapting other source material has always been a bit of a hit-and-miss subject for the studio, but the love and care Walt showed for the film is positively palpable in its animation, music, and presentation.

Although Disney had great respect for the original work by J.M. Barrie, the studio wasn't afraid to take some artistic freedoms with the material. The feature's added material does nothing to inhibit the original Peter Pan story, there's no doubt that what the studio did contribute was definitively Disney.

It’s a good thing Brie Larson is at peace with her earlier heartbreaks. In a video she posted on Thursday, the “Captain Marvel” star rattled off all the movies she auditioned for and didn’t get — and it’s quite the list.

Following the announcement a few months ago that a prequel series focussing on the Beauty and the Beast protagonist Gaston was heading to Disney+, fans have been anxious to hear more about the show. Well, in a recent interview, the legendary composer Alan Menken may have accidently revealed the title of the show, Little Town.

During the interview, Menken discussed the new musical series, which he has described as "a new +Beauty and the Beast prequel."

Whilst discussing the show, Menken refers to the Disney+ as "The Little Town", however further investigation has seemingly confirmed that it will go by the slightly shorter title, Little Town. The title is no doubt a reference to lyrics from the opening number in 1991's Beauty and the Beast, in which the precocious bookworm Belle sings, " Little town. It's a quiet village. Every day. Like the one before. Little town. Full of little people.

The first theatrical release to reschedule in the face of Covid-19 was “No Time to Die.” As the 25th installment in the main 007 series, it’s part of an extraordinary franchise that’s survived nearly 60 years, with seven leading men as James Bond; someday, presuming the pandemic permits it, there will be a 28th Bond title, with an eighth leading man. (Daniel Craig has repeatedly sworn that the Cary Fukunaga Bond film will be his last.)

But first things first. “No Time to Die” is currently slated for November 20, and this week saw unconfirmed speculation that even the fall date may be unduly optimistic. There’s little assurance that American theaters will have resumed normal operations, and China also looks daunting with its announcement that until further notice all theatrical releases must be two hours or less. (Fukunaga’s film is a whopping 2:43.)

One well-placed source categorically denied the possibility of pushing again.

Local films from directors Jo-Anne Brechin and Steven McGregor are among the 12 world premieres to feature on the line-up for Miff 68½ – Melbourne International Film Festival’s upcoming digital-only iteration.

Kelly Reichardt’s “First Cow” is set as the opening movie of the Melbourne International Film Festival. The event was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, before being revived online under the label Miff 68 ½. The festival will unspool virtually Aug 6-23, 2020.

“First Cow” is an unlikely story of friendship and free enterprise on the American frontier, involving a skilled cook, a Chinese immigrant and a wealthy landowner’s prized milking cow. It previously played at the Telluride, New York and Berlin festivals.

In total, the festival will present 60 feature films, including 3 in a retrospective section, and 44 shorts. They hail from 56 countries and territories and 49% include at least one female director. All film screenings are geo-blocked to play only within Australia, but are available nationwide.

In some ways, the 1950s remain a bit of an unappreciated decade for Disney animated feature films. While they have characters that everyone probably recognizes, relatively few people have likely seen most of these films more than once, if they’ve seen them at all. Peter Pan is just one of those films.

However, it is definitely worth rewatching, in large part because the characters remain as endearing as they were when they first appeared on the screen. They are also surprisingly complex, and thinking about them as character classes from Dungeons and Dragons reveals layers to them that might not be visible at first glance.

The story of Peter Pan has clung like pixie dust to the imagination of children and adults alike for over 100 years.  Since its initial release as a stage play in 1904, its been rebooted and re-imagined numerous times over the past decades. Sometimes successfully as with Hook (1991) wherein the exuberant Robin Williams played Peter Pan opposite Dustin Hoffman's Captain Hook, and sometimes regrettably with Peter Pan (2003) and Pan (2015).

But the version most closely associated with the children's story Peter Pan and Wendy J.M Barrie penned in 1911 is the 1953 version by Walt Disney Productions. As Disney looks to give the story of the "boy who wouldn't grow up" the live-action treatment with Peter Pan and Wendy in 2022, lets look at all the ways the Disney version altered the original fairy tale.

Two of Disney's greatest ever movies are Peter Pan and Robin Hood and a lot of that is down to the titular characters. They are both all about helping others and have no problems going up against authority or villains who have more power and wealth than them.

That's why they're considered to be amongst Disney's greatest ever heroes. But when it comes to a battle between them, it isn't easy to determine which character is the greater hero. This list will attempt to do just that, presenting five reasons why Robin Hood is better and five why Peter Pan is the superior hero.

New Horizons has given Animal Crossing fans more chances than ever before to customize their character. In addition to letting players edit their faces, skin color, and hair at any time, the game also includes over 1,200 different clothing items, and over 4,600 if you include all the color variations.

While New Horizons clearly features lots of trendy outfits, there are several costumes sold at the Able Sisters that might look familiar to Disney fans. Sure, Animal Crossing isn’t officially associated with Disney, but many garments appear to have taken heavy inspiration from the characters in films including Peter Pan, Aladdin, and Frozen.

It’s time to look at some of the outfits in New Horizons that nod a few of Disney's most popular characters.

Disney’s adaption of Peter Pan flew onto the big screen in 1953. Based on J.M. Barrie’s play and novel of the same name, this animated musical follows a girl and her brothers who are swept into the magical world of Neverland by a boy named Peter Pan.

While the movie is enchanting, there are many details of it that don’t add up. It’s worth noting that we will be looking exclusively at the original Disney adaption of Peter Pan. Any outside material that expands the story will not be considered.

Additionally, we’re acknowledging that we're going to be picky. Peter Pan is a fictional work and the creators were allowed to do whatever they wanted, but it’s far too fun to point out the film's little flaws.

“Doogie Howser, M.D.” is getting a female-fronted reboot on Disney+.

Variety reported that the series is getting rebooted as “Doogie Kealoha, M.D.” (working title) and will take place in Hawaii. Kourtney Kang will write and executive produce the series. “Doogie Kealoha, M.D.” will reportedly center on a 16-year-old half-Asian, half-Caucasian girl who works as a doctor, reflecting Kang’s own Hawaiian background.

The project has not been officially announced but sources close to production confirmed the news to IndieWire.

Jake Kasden and Melvin Mar will also executive produce the upcoming series, according to Variety. Dayna and Jesse Bocho will serve as producers. 20th Century Fox Television, which produced the original series, will also produce. Kang, Kasden, and Mar all have overall deals at the studio.

Stuart Gordon, the horror filmmaker known for his cult classics inspired by H.P. Lovecraft stories like “Re-Animator” and “Just Beyond,” has died. He was 72.

Gordon’s representative Dominic Mancini shared the news to Twitter on Wednesday morning. “I’m so gutted to see this & at a loss of words. To my dear friend & client, to one of my favorite filmmakers, to a constant beacon of light in the horror genre, to a man who did it better than most..goodbye Stuart. I’ll miss you,” Mancini said in a tweet.

No cause of death was given.

Gordon was known for his bloody, body horror and sci-fi films, starting with “Re-Animator” in 1985 about the story of a doctor who learned to re-animate dead human tissue. The film won a Critics Prize at the Cannes Film Festival that year.

Disney had decided to halt production on its current and upcoming slate of live-action movies. This comes as the coronavirus outbreak worsens, with countries around the world taking progressively extreme measures to contain the disease. As a precaution, Disney is temporarily suspending filming on movies such as The Little Mermaid remake, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and more.

Disney‘s new Wendy comes from a big-screen bloodline.

Twelve-year-old Ever Gabo Anderson has landed the role in the upcoming live-action remake of 1953’s Peter Pan. The young newcomer is the oldest daughter of Resident Evil actress Milla Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson.

Ever will star alongside Alexander Molony, who has been tapped to star as Peter Pan. She will also play a young Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming Marvel superhero flick Black Widow.

Peter Pan and Wendy, Disney's upcoming live-action reboot of the classic Peter Pan story, has found its lead stars. It's now being reported that the coveted role of Peter Pan will be played by child actor Alexander Molony, who previously appeared on the television shows The Reluctant Landlord and Claude.

Meanwhile, Wendy will be played by newcomer Ever Anderson, who previously played the Red Queen in the horror movie sequel Resident Evil: The Final Chapter; she is also set to appear as the younger version of Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow. No other cast members attached to the project have yet been officially revealed.

David Lowery, who previously helmed Disney's remake of the live-action/animated classic Pete's Dragon, is on board to direct Peter Pan and Wendy with Jim Whitaker producing. Lowery also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Toby Halbrooks, who previously worked with Lowery to co-write Pete's Dragon as well.
