Christmas comes early on Max, as the streamer adds a bevy of holiday movies to its library for the month of November, alongside new TV debuts, a noteworthy documentary and more. “Elf,” “Christmas Vacation,” “Arthur Christmas,” “The Shop Around the Corner” and “Four Christmases” are some of the holiday films arriving on the streaming platform on Nov. 1.

Exclusive: It’s been nearly 20 years since their hit action thriller Man On Fire blew away audiences and further helped solidify Dakota Fanning as a future star but it now looks like she is ready to reteam with the Oscar Winning Denzel Washington. Sources tell Deadline Fanning is set to star opposite Washington in Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer 3 for Sony Pictures.

Written by Richard Wenk, the film is being produced by Escape Artists’ Academy Award nominee Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Washington. More than a decade after Brittany Murphy died, director Cynthia Hill wants to give the actor a chance to “be something other than her death.”

“We’re doing a lot of looking back to reevaluate missteps and to be able to talk about people like Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy, who have been victimized by Hollywood, by the gossip industry,” Hill tells Variety. “Having to look back at what our role is in all of that [is] giving these women an opportunity to reclaim their voices.”

Working with Blumhouse Television and Pyramid Productions, Hill spent the last year creating a two-part docuseries about the circumstances that led to Murphy’s death on Dec. 20, 2009, at age 32. “What Happened, Brittany Murphy?” bows Oct. 14 on HBO Max.

Per its official description, the untitled doc “presents an in-depth, intimate character portrait exploring the life and career and mysterious circumstances surrounding the tragic death of ’90s actress and rising star, Brittany Murphy.” HBO Max says “the series will go beyond the conspiracy theories and headlines, featuring new interviews by those closest to Brittany and new archival footage.”

The star of films like “Clueless,” “8 Mile,” “Uptown Girls” and “Girl, Interrupted,” Murphy went into cardiac arrest and died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Dec. 20, 2009, after reportedly collapsing at the Los Angeles home she shared with her husband, Simon Monjack. Her official cause of death was ruled pneumonia.

The series is based on Patricia Highsmith’s Tom Ripley novels. She joins previously announced cast members Andrew Scott and Johnny Flynn.

In the series, Tom Ripley (Scott), a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy businessman to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home. Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit. Fanning will play Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy who suspects darker motives underlie Tom’s affability. Sherwood was previously portrayed by Gwyneth Paltrow in the film “The Talented Mr. Ripley.”

The Nightingale is set to be released on December 22, 2021. Directed by Mélanie Laurent, it is based on a novel of the same name and stars Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning as sisters during World War II, working to survive the German occupation in France. Elizabeth Cantillon served as the produced, the screenplay was by Dana Stevens, and The Nightingale will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.

The book, which came out in 2015, was written by Kristin Hannah and inspired by the real-life story of Andrée de Jongh; throughout the war, this 24-year-old Belgian woman helped 118 Allied pilots escape the Nazis. At one point, she was captured and sent to a concentration camp, but after the war, she became a countess, before passing away in 2007. Dakota Fanning has not only starred in some of our all-time favorite films throughout the years - from Uptown Girls to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - but she's also a children's advocate, most recently partnering with Panda Cares to support underserved youth in health and education. Dakota Fanning is paying tribute to her former co-star, the late Brittany Murphy. As fans might recall, the stars worked together on the beloved 2003 movie, Uptown Girls, in which Murphy's character became the nanny to Fanning's character. Six years after the film's release, in Dec. 2009, Murphy passed away at the age of 32. Hulu is out with its list of all the content that’s coming and going to the streaming service in February.

Highlights include the series premiere of Zoë Kravitz’s “High Fidelity” reboot, coming on Valentine’s Day, in which she stars as a record store owner in a gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, revisiting past relationships through music and trying to get over her one true love. Her character was played by John Cusack in the 2000 film, and both are based on Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel of the same name.

There is also a new episode of “Into the Dark” titled “My Valentine,” which will be released on Feb. 7, in which a pop singer’s ex-boyfriend and manager steals her songs and gives them to his new protégé.

Season 1 of Hulu Original “Utopia Falls” comes out Feb.

Hulu is out with its list of everything new coming in January, as well as everything that’s leaving at the end of the month.

Highlights include the Season 24 premiere of “The Bachelor,” available the day after it airs first on ABC — so Jan. 7 for Hulu subscribers. Get ready to see Peter Weber in all his glory.

“Homeland” Seasons 6 and 7 will be available Jan. 10, following CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and her mentor, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

Dakota Fanning shared a sweet tribute to her former costar Brittany Murphy on Friday, over eight years after Murphy’s shocking sudden death.

The 24-year-old actress posted a shot of her and Murphy in their 2003 film Uptown Girls, which tells the story of a childish woman (Murphy) who starts nannying a mature 8-year-old girl (Fanning).

“Brittany Murphy was a ray of sunshine that made every day of filming magical for me,” Fanning wrote on the flashback post. She added the hashtag “#uptowngirls” with a sunshine emoji.

Dillon Panthers fans, get ready to relive all the feels because all six seasons of “Friday Night Lights” are now streaming on Amazon Prime. The series, which originally aired on NBC, was previously on Netflix but left the streaming service back in October.

“Friday Night Lights” stars Kyle Chandler as the high school football coach for the Dillon, Texas, Panthers. Connie Britton, Taylor Kitsch, Jessie Plemmons, Aimee Teegarden and Zach Gilford also star, among others.

In our recent interview (watch above), she reveals, “I was thrilled at the opportunity to show such a pioneer, ground-breaking character for 1896. We didn’t get to see women in those positions very often, so I loved that aspect of the story. I tend to be drawn to darker subject matter in general.”

Reynolds’s son and Fisher’s younger brother Todd Fisher told ABC’s 20/20 that he is planning a joint service with Billie Lourd, 24, his niece and Fisher’s daughter. According to Todd, his mother and sister will be buried “among friends,” at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
