Known for her impeccable attention to detail both on and off the screen, Dakota Fanning once admitted, “I like everything perfect. Everything has to be neat… My shoes are all arranged. It’s sad. I’m a little like Ray, a little bit” (Los Angeles Times). This meticulous nature extends to her effortlessly polished style, whether she’s on the red carpet or running errands.

For whatever reason, Hollywood doesn't produce movies like "Legally Blonde" anymore. Brightly colored, fun, and undeniably optimistic, this Reese Witherspoon comedy succinctly captures the zeitgeist of the early 2000s, and it now serves as a time capsule to a more innocent time when it felt possible for a fashion merchandising student to usurp the Harvard snobs and become a full-fledged lawyer. Truly, director Robert Luketic's upbeat tone, to say nothing of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith's snappy script, is a key reason for the film's enduring success -- it's the perfect underdog tale, featuring a likable character worth rooting for and an uplifting message about staying true to yourself and persevering in the face of adversity.
"Legally Blonde" earned solid reviews from critics, earned a pair of Golden Globe nominations, including one for Witherspoon, made a killing at the box office, led to two sequels (and counting), and even spawned a musical.

The '90s was a complicated time to be a TV teen. While the kids of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Melrose Place" were entrenched in constant scandalous teen drama, a gentler, more family-friendly version of teen life was drawing in audiences on ABC. "Boy Meets World" ran for an impressive 158 episodes, from 1993 to 2000, and remains a pop cultural touchstone — albeit not quite as potent of one as its cattier primetime counterparts — to this day.
Like every memorable sitcom, "Boy Meets World" knew how to pick a guest star, and several of the actors who showed up across its seven-season run went on to be pretty dang famous. In a few cases, people who were already big-name actors at the time also dropped in on the kids of John Adams High. If you watched the show at a young age, though, you'd be forgiven for not recognizing the industry veterans and...

Boaz Yakin's Once Again (For the Very First Time) signals something of a rebirth. In it's opening moments, the protagonist falls from the heavens with bloodied clothing and lands on the doorstep of his love interest. He is a street dancer named DeRay, she's a slam poet called Naim. They express themselves and their love through their art, him with his body, she with her words. What unfolds is a story of creation and destruction, love and death, God and humanity, told through the blending of stylistically daring film scenes that put dance and poetry front and center. It is a far cry from films like Fresh, Remember The Titans and Uptown Girls, the sort of work that filmmaker Yakin became best known for. Still,...

Netflix's Love is Blind is an experimental dating show that has singles trying to find their perfect match on personality alone. While sitting in "pods" these singles share as many personal stories about their lives in hopes that their forever partner will connect with them emotionally.
Most contestants don't share their physical appearance or ethnicity as they don't want that to be a deciding factor. Season 7's Hannah Jiles was one contestant who was hesitant to share details about her weight because it was a big insecurity for her. However, once she opened up, she accepted a proposal from Nick Dorka. The season isn't over, but there has been trouble in paradise for these two and a walk down the aisle might be up in the air.

Now in its seventh season, Netflix's Love Is Blind is a well-known dating show to many. The reality TV series attempts to match hopeful singles through a blind dating system, and if a pair hits it off and truly believes they've found their person, they can choose to get engaged before they've ever even laid eyes on one another.
This season, we saw a total of seven couples who decided to get engaged. Now, more than halfway through the season, some of the duos have called it quits, while others seem to be navigating rocky waters. One such couple is Hannah and Nick, who have had their share of drama throughout the episodes.
Though the Season 7 finale has yet to air, Hannah has slowly been dropping hints about her present day life. Part of that, it seems, is a new look, showing off that she's lost some weight since filming the show.

While television had been a part of each past IndieWire Honors celebration, the medium took center stage on the evening of Thursday, June 6, with an event that celebrated the creators and stars of such well-regarded shows as “Abbott Elementary,” “Expats,” “Fellow Travelers,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” and “True Detective: Night Country.”
Even before the awards ceremony began, as talent started filing into the Citizen News venue in the heart of Hollywood, it was a marvel to see “Palm Royale” star and Vanguard Award recipient Carol Burnett hold court as fellow honorees like “Under the Bridge” producer/star Riley Keough, recipient of the Maverick Award, and “Abbott Elementary” creator/star Quinta Brunson, recipient of the Visionary Award (and whom Burnett presented an Emmy to in January), came to greet the comedy legend.

On June 6, the 2024 IndieWire Honors ceremony celebrated 13 creators and stars responsible for some of the most stellar work of the TV season. Curated and selected by IndieWire’s editorial team, the event was a new edition of previous IndieWire Honors ceremonies, this time focused entirely on television. We showcased their work with new interviews leading up to the Los Angeles celebration.
“Is your desk very messy or is it very clean?”
This was the question host Alex Edelman asked renaissance man, actor, filmmaker, and documentarian Fisher Stevens before welcoming him to the stage to accept the Magnify Award at the 2024 IndieWire Honors. It’s a fair ask, as Stevens remains one of the busiest men in Hollywood and abroad. Dakota Fanning went viral in April for revealing that not only did Tom Cruise gift her a cell phone when she celebrated her 11th birthday on the set of their 2005 movie “War of the Worlds” but that he’s also proceeded to send her a birthday gift every year since. That’s nearly two decades worth of birthday presents, all of which have apparently been shoes. Fanning revealed the specifics of Cruise’s gifting habits during a new interview on Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show (via Entertainment Weekly).
“I turned 11 on ‘War of the Worlds,’ when we worked together and he gave me my first cell phone for that birthday,” Fanning said. “It was a Motorola Razr…I didn’t have anyone to call, but I wanted a Razr so bad. I must have been talking about it a lot because that’s what he got me. It’s such a great memory.

Abigail is a multifaceted horror film that blends elements of thriller, comedy, and coming-of-age tale for an unexpected emotional journey. Despite genre differences, Abigail and Uptown Girls share a central theme of caretaking young women who are forced to mature much earlier than they should. The universal themes of growth and responsibility, seen in both Abigail and Uptown Girls, transcend genres and resonate with audiences of all kinds.
Abigail is the newest horror hit in a year-long season of exciting films within the genre. Of course, it's not only a horror film: it's also a thriller, comedy, and classic coming-of-age tale. Starring a young vampire and an adult woman suffering from her own form of trauma-induced arrested development, Abigail takes a straightforward vampire survival story and gives it several unexpected emotional layers.
Interestingly, those layers and that central character dynamic make it very similar to another classic film favorite, although of a very different genre.

When you're a kid or teenager, it’s impossible to not have those film or TV characters that you aspire to be like. Whether it’s the effortless chicness of Carrie Bradshaw, the mystery of Marissa Cooper, or the irreverent, girlboss candor of Euphoria’s Maddie Perez, everyone has a character that they secretly or proudly wish they could be more like. Since I was six, there has always been a little part of me that wishes I was like Molly Gunn (Brittany Murphy) from Uptown Girls. The opening montage of her running around her huge New York apartment, throwing on a glitzy dress strewn over a mirror, using a candle lid as a hair clip, and coming out looking like a painting; yeah, I wanted that. But it goes so much further than the natural beauty of Brittany Murphy. Molly Gunn is a multifaceted and complex character. On the exterior,...

Dakota Fanning is dominating Netflix's top 10 in January 2024, setting herself up for a Hollywood comeback. Fanning's movies The Equalizer 3 and Trapped are both among Netflix's top 10, despite the latter being released 21 years ago. Fanning has new projects coming up, including the TV series Ripley and the highly anticipated horror movie The Watchers, making 2024 a big year for her.
Believe it or not, Dakota Fanning is dominating Netflix's top 10 this January. Between her surprising streaming success and two soon-to-be hits on the horizon, Fanning is primed for a 2024 Hollywood comeback. Fanning caught everyone's attention in 2001 thanks to her Screen Actors Guild-nominated performance in I Am Sam, a Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer-starring drama. Following that early success, Fanning became one of the early 2000s most prolific child actors, landing roles in acclaimed indies and Hollywood blockbusters alike, from Uptown Girls (2003) and Man on Fire (2004) to the Tom Cruise...

Friends is arguably the most successful sitcom in history. The series ran for ten seasons throughout the 90s and 2000s as the audience fell in love with the six main characters. Because of its outstanding fame, the show is known for its wide cast of characters, which often includes some of the most famous and beloved celebrities of the time.
However, it's impossible to keep track of every actor and actress that ever appeared in Friends. Even though all of these guest stars were iconic, they often only appeared in one episode or even just for a couple of minutes, so people tend to forget they were even there in the first place. Yet, that doesn't mean their appearance on the show wasn't memorable.

It’s a lean month for new original content on HBO/Max. November will see the return of two scripted series in Julia and Rap Sh!t, both of which are debuting their respective second seasons, but this month’s fresh highlight is likely to be Bookie, a new comedy series from the partnership of The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre, and Nick Bakay. The show tracks an LA bookie called Danny (Sebastian Maniscalco), whose business is in peril as California movies to legalize sports gambling.
Elsewhere in November, there quite a few interesting documentaries to keep an eye on, and two that jump out as “must watch”. The first is Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, which chronicles the aging comedian’s life and career. The second is the previously-released Little Richard: I Am Everything, which tries to peel back the whitewashed canon of Richard Penniman in a true...

Let’s be honest, it’s a weird time out there in the world of streaming movies. As the major streamers continue to mess around with their apps and libraries, adding ad-tiers or changing their names to nonsense words that have nothing to do with the brand, they’re also charging more for less. As Netflix, Max, and Amazon Prime decrease in value, free streaming services become a better deal.
But just because you’re not shelling out any cash doesn’t mean that you want a terrible experience. If you know where to look, you can find hundreds of movies available online, completely for free. And no, I’m not referring to those sketchy sites you used to visit in college. I’m talking about services that let you watch full-length movies completely for free. Sure, you’ll need to watch a few ads to get the movies, but...

We've been huge fans of Elle and Dakota Fanning since they first started their Hollywood careers almost 20 years ago as kids! Over the years, their pictures together have let us watch as they've grown up from adorable kid stars (in films like "Uptown Girls" and "We Bought a Zoo") to full-fledged leading ladies and style icons - and what's even better, they've stuck together this whole time. More than a decade after Brittany Murphy died, director Cynthia Hill wants to give the actor a chance to “be something other than her death.”
“We’re doing a lot of looking back to reevaluate missteps and to be able to talk about people like Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy, who have been victimized by Hollywood, by the gossip industry,” Hill tells Variety. “Having to look back at what our role is in all of that [is] giving these women an opportunity to reclaim their voices.”
Working with Blumhouse Television and Pyramid Productions, Hill spent the last year creating a two-part docuseries about the circumstances that led to Murphy’s death on Dec. 20, 2009, at age 32. “What Happened, Brittany Murphy?” bows Oct. 14 on HBO Max.

A dazzling and frank dance musical, Boaz Yakin’s Aviva is an ambitious picture free from the restraints of traditional narrative–an ode to young urban living as young lovers Eden and Aviva settle down and settle into familiar gender roles. The question of gender roles is a loaded one, in fact. We’re told that Eden (played by Tyler Phillips as a man and Bobbi Jene Smith as a female) was intended to be a woman, played by a man, in a role written by a man. Eden’s lover, the luminous Aviva, is portrayed in female form by Zina Zinchenko and sometimes in the male form by Or Schraiber. The rules of the game–the movie within the movie–are explained as each character is introduced to us posing nude, in either a domestic or professional space, by the film’s female narrator. Confused yet? Aviva is as confounding as it is explicit,...

"Only in the wilderness is man made pure again." Momentum has released a trailer for a dark thriller film titled Boarding School, the latest from filmmaker Boaz Yakin. The synopsis for this seems similar to The Miseducation of Cameron Post, but the actual film seems to border on being more horror or psychological thriller than a drama. Luke Prael stars as Jacob, a 12-year-old boy who, after being caught wearing women's dresses by his father, is sent away to a private boarding school for teenage misfits. Once there, he discovers the headmaster is much more dangerous than helpful in any way.
