Seven more entries in the American Pie series are getting fresh Blu-ray releases – including a 4K release for American Pie 2.

The American Pie franchise is to be the beneficiary of fresh physical media releases in the UK, thanks to 88 Films. The label has already brough the original film to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and now it’s got plans for all the others as well.

Let’s do the theatrical sequels first.

On 19th May 2025, American Pie 2 is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. It’s arriving in a pack that includes a Blu-ray as well, one that’s carrying over a copious amount of extra features from previous releases. The 4K transfer is brand new, though. You can find more information on the release, and order yourself a copy, here.

Then, there are deluxe Blu-ray editions of the further two cinematically-released films.

According to an eyewitness, the 1915 Spanish Colonial Revival mansion has burnt down in the Eaton fire, with only its facade still standing.

There is major concern for the nearby Crank house where Matilda, Scream 2, and Catch Me If You Can were filmed, the house Step Brothers was shot as well as the famed Rubio Street, which includes one of the most heavily used mansions in movies and TV series such as Risky Business and This Is Us.

Sony had been planning to give director Chris Weitz’s horror film They Listen a theatrical release on August 25th of 2023, but in May of last year they decided to delay the release an entire year, pushing They Listen to August 30, 2024. By the time that date rolled around, the movie had been given the new title Afraid (or AfrAId)… and neither the new title nor the new release date worked out for the movie at the box office, because it only ended up making $9 million at the global box office. Just two weeks after its theatrical release, Afraid has now been given a digital release and is available for rent on Amazon’s Prime Video for $9.99. It can also be purchased for the price of $14.99.

After 25 years, Jason Biggs took advantage of one of his most memorable roles for some tongue-in-cheek marketing.

The American Pie star, who hosts Netflix‘s Blue Ribbon Baking Championship, joked “there were no pies harmed” while filming the backing competition series, which is “safe for family viewing” and now available on the streamer.

Shannon Elizabeth became a teen movie icon with her breakthrough role in 1999’s “American Pie.” She played Nadia, the foreign exchange student from Czech Republic who Jason Biggs’ Jim wants to lose his virginity to before high school graduation. Elizabeth recently revealed on the “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum” podcast (via The Independent) that she was left “devastated” by the film after the post-production team screwed with her accent. Elizabeth said the accent in the film was not what she originally wanted.

“When I did American Pie, they called me in to do Adr,” Elizabeth said. “They were like, ‘We’re gonna play with the accent.’ So I’d say something and then they’d go, ‘Ok, do less of an accent.’ I was like, ‘Why are they messing with this accent so much?’ I had worked really hard with a dialect coach on this.”

One of her early roles was an appearance in the original 1999 sex comedy American Pie, directed by Chris and Paul Weitz. She played the mother of Seann William Scott's rambunctious cad Steve Stifler, a woman whose appearance inspired the popularization of the term "Milf" and who eventually slept with her son's friend Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas). She would return to the role three times in each of the film's official sequels: 2001's American Pie 2, 2003's American Wedding, and 2012's American Reunion.

Chris Weitz went uncredited on his feature directorial debut American Pie, which he directed alongside his brother Paul Weitz, but since then he has earned directing credits on Down to Earth, About a Boy, The Golden Compass, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, A Better Life, and Operation Finale. He dealt with some horror elements in the Twilight movie, but now Deadline reports that he is going all-in on horror with his new film They Listen. They also report that Katherine Waterston (Alien: Covenant) and John Cho (Searching) have signed on to star in the film.

In a sign that perhaps the departing “Saturday Night Live” stars are returning to their greatest hits as they head out the door, this week’s cold open featured a wild sendoff for at least two of them. For Kate McKinnon, that meant her fan favorite alien abductee Ms. Rafferty, who once again shared a wildly inappropriate experience with Nsa officers played by Aidy Bryant and Mikey Day.

After showcasing her experience, McKinnon as Ms. Rafferty headed off into space, after one last goodbye. This clearly doubled as a McKinnon goodbye as well. “I kind of felt like an alien on this planet anyway,” the character said. “Well Earth, I love you, thanks for letting me stay awhile. Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”

The clip opened with Bryant and Day, and sustained applause — clearly directed at Bryant, who is also departing after this episode.

Ernie Lively, the actor who appeared in beloved movies “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and “Turner & Hooch,” has died. He was 74.

A representative for Lively confirmed his death to Variety.

In the two “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” movies, which came out in 2005 and 2008, Lively portrayed the father of Bridget, played by his real-life daughter, Blake Lively. The “Gossip Girl” star wasn’t the only one to be inspired by her father’s career. His other children — Jason, Eric, Robyn and Lori — built careers in film in television as well. Mentorship was a big part of Lively’s life. From the late ’80s through most of the ’90s, he coached Hollywood’s young working actors, such as Brittany Murphy, Casper Van Dien and Jason Priestley.

The Maryland native was born in Baltimore in January 1947 and earned his first acting credit at age 28 with an appearance on “The Waltons.

American Pie star Tara Reid has teased a fifth sequel to the hugely popular teen comedy franchise, confirming that a script for American Pie 5 is ready. While there have been a whole host of spin-offs branching off from the 1999 original, it has now been close to a decade since audiences last caught up with the American Pie gang. However, according to Reid, fans may not have to wait too much longer.

"It might happen... okay, I can't tell you when, because I don't really know when, because we have to get all the actors and at the same time to get our schedules together. There is a script out there. I'll put it that way."

Well here we are. April is going to be a fairly sedentary and isolating month for a lot of people. At least we now thankfully have some guidance as to our entertainment options as HBO has released its new streaming releases for April 2020.

HBO’s original series premieres are pretty busy this month. The fourth season of Issa Rae’s excellent comedy Insecure arrives on April 12. That’s preceded by the fascinating docuseries Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children and followed by book adaptation I Know This Much is True.

On the film side of things there are a few exciting options. Good Boys arrives on April 4, It: Chapter Two on April 11, and Stuber on April 18. Some older movies arriving on April 1 are Team America: World Police, Die Hard, and Slumdog Millionaire.

Brian Turk, a character actor best known for his roles on Carnivàle and Beverly Hills, 90210, died Sept. 13 in Orange, California, following a year-long battle with cancer. He was 49.

His death was announced on a GoFundMe page that had been set up by friends to raise money for Turk’s medical treatment and two support his family (wife Emily Wu and an 8-year-old son).

Turk’s best known role was Gabriel the strongman on HBO’s Carnivàle. He played the character for the entire run of the 2003-2005 series.

Other series on Turk’s roster of credits include Wings, Two and a Half Men, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER, Cybill, Nash Bridges, Boy Meets World and Criminal Minds, American Pie 2 and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. More significant roles include Spike on Saved by the Bell: The New Class, Tiny on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Bo Crowell on General Hospital.

Sad news out of Hollywood today. 

Brian Turk has died following a battle with cancer. 

He was 49. 

Turk passed away on Friday, over a year after he was diagnosed with brain cancer. 

His death is said to be a result of complications with cancer. 

A GoFundMe was set up back in July as the actor fought the disease. 

It reads:

"Just over a year ago our dear friend, Brian Turk, was diagnosed with cancer."

"Being the selfless and private person that he is, Brian kept this quiet so as not to concern his family and friends.

"Brian has impacted so many of us in a positive way whether it be on the football field, at Mater Dei or USC, on stage or in our personal lives. He has always been there for us in our times of need and celebration."
