'Cheerleaders' is a video from 1997 that's got a really popular theme going for it. There's only one problem. It isn't used to it's fullest potential. There's too much talking, scenes that have little to do with this type of lively ladies and a music video is here if you can believe that. There's some good parts, but not nearly enough of them.
"Cheerleader Fantasies" gets things off on the right foot. The ladies practice in their uniforms on the field. Back in the locker room, a conversation about the hottest football players leads to a boy/girl fantasy. There's some nice shots as the guy grabs as much flesh as he can. Not my favorite type of scene, but decent (6 mins). "Secret Desires" starts out as a blonde solo in the showers before a girl/girl which didn't do much for me (8 mins). "Fun in The Shower" has all of them getting wet. There's a lot of eye candy naturally, but no great detail (3 mins).
Then there's a short but fun montage with the ladies back in their uniforms on the field practicing, doing splits, leg raises with some topless shots. This is more of what the video really could have used. "Julie & James" is Playmate Julie Cialini in a boy/girl where all kinds of sticky substances (chocolate, whipped cream, sugar) get applied over her body before being hosed off. Not my favorite concept (6.5 mins).
"Truth or Dare" has the cheerleaders laying around a living room playing that game which serves as a jumping off point for the rest of the video. It leads to a VR inspired solo strip here. The busty brunette (Erica Leonard) looks great, but the concept isn't. There's a quick insert of her in a cheerleader skirt that keeps blowing up, but it mainly keeps to the VR theme (5.5 mins).
Choosing 'truth' leads to "Car Wash Cuties" which is what this theme was built for. Three cheerleaders (Cindy Rich, Crissy Ranay, Patty Breton) do a charity car wash and strip from their tops, skirts getting soapy & wet. Fun vibe, good visuals, closeups (9 mins). "2-4-6-8" is more cheerleader conversation which gives way to a horrible music video featuring Carmen Electra on vocals who never gets naked. Only minimal nudity provided by other dancing ladies (5.5 mins). Pretty sore and we don't rebound to end things. "No Faking" rejoins the ladies where one dares another to do a fake orgasm which she does. Then a pillow fight and a montage of previous scenes (3 mins).
They dance. They're pretty. They wear skirts that show their luscious legs. I get the attraction. I get the vibe, but 'Cheerleaders' didn't deliver how it needed to be a success. Too many scenes miss the mark and that music video was the absolute worst. I wanted to enjoy this, wanted to like it. However the final result leaves a lot to be desired.
