Featured review
There were many porno films in the '70s that introduced Asian actresses into the story for novelty, and not just to spotlight big stars like Kristara Barrington. I saw ORIENTAL TREATMENT theatrically, and it holds up pretty well (other than color fading) on DVD on Vol. 67 of the Something Weird Dragon Art Theater series.
Kyoto Gee is the attractive guest star delivering the goods briefly in the final reel as Suki Yoo. Storyline is silly, on purpose, as busty but thespian-challenged heroine as Sgt. Pecker and her unscrupulous police chief boss Barker go through the motions of surveillance to trap a drug kingpin dealing in synthetic cocaine. Barker is obsessed with a woman's clitoris (he calls it "your cock") and he uses the improv dialog as an opportunity to talk dirty in the rather embarrassing porn-speak that litters these cheapies. Oh, for an actual script.
Lamest subplot has an actress doing double duty in two roles, conveniently introed by way of "oh that's her sister". As a tribute to the old stags, Barker keeps his black socks on during sex.
Oddest touch is the use of very old-fashioned Silent Era inter-titles to carry forward the story, accompanied by piano simulating the music played in the '20s. More typical of the era is a surprise Golden Shower bestowed by Barker on Sgt. Pecker after sex, much to her disgust.
Kyoto saves the day in the final reel demonstrating excellent deep throat technique, but in place of an ending we merely get another pointless inter-title. Director Harold Lee cheats consistently on the money shots, having the girls spit or drool out a phony liquid instead of showing ejaculation. Ever since Ron Jeremy explained this standard technique I've noticed it used frequently in lower grade films.
Music score is pretty lousy, except for a sudden burst of fusion jazz taken from one of Gato Barbieri's LPs for the Flying Dutchman label.
The Suki Yu/Rob Rose sex scene was later used over as a vignette in TEENAGE FANTASIES: PART II, with its pirated Barbieri music included intact.
