Featured review
Upon watching this I realised this was a more simplified version of Orphans of the Storm in 1922, by DW Griffith, starring the lovely Gish sisters. The plot was there minus the French Revolution part.
Unless you have knowledge of the story, it can be hard to understand what is going on, as there are big gaps in it as the years go on, which is not at all explained, & contains no title cards to help with this. The sets & costumes look nice & was obviously a quite expensive production for the time, & the acting although not great, is not bad for the time it was made.
All in all not bad, but if you are going to watch it I would recommend reading up on the original story to have an idea what is going on. This will give you a taster to watch the 1922 version by DW Griffith, if you haven't seen it, which is excellant for the time.
