General Donald McClintock : With all due respect, Colonel Daniels, if you do not follow us to Travis Air Force Base, I will blow you out of the sky.
Sam Daniels : General, with all due respect, fuck you, sir.
-
Casey Schuler : How many brain cells did I kill?
Sam Daniels : How many? About a billion.
Casey Schuler : Oh, now I'm only as smart as you.
Sam Daniels : What can we give him to kill his sense of humor?
-
Sam Daniels : You know Salt, fear gets a bad rap. I don't want anybody in my outfit that doesn't get scared.
Major Salt : Then I'm your man sir.
-
Mrs. Pananides : I g a friend in the Coast Guard. I can make a call, easy.
Sam Daniels : How close a friend?
Mrs. Pananides : Closer than his wife would like.
-
Sam Daniels : If you think I'm lying, drop the bomb. If you think I'm crazy, drop the bomb. But don't drop the bomb just because you're following orders!
-
Sam Daniels : Just don't get negative on me.
Major Salt : Affirmative.
-
Sam Daniels : Colonel Daniels from USAMRIID.
George Armistead : Yes, and I'm George from Sioux City, SD. Back of the line colonel
Sam Daniels : We got a terrible epidemic. We're from Cedar Creek, CA
Major Salt : [shouts at everyone] Cedar Creek, site of the viral infection
[everyone backs away]
Sam Daniels : George, you heard about the virus? need we say more?
George Armistead : NO
Sam Daniels : [holding George hands] We need all the bills of landing from ships arriving from Africa in the last 3 months. George, shall I cough on you?
George Armistead : NO
-
Sergeant Meyer : Sir, my pilot is taking a leak.
Sam Daniels : A leak? No shit! Well, in that case, we'll just wait in the Loach.
Sergeant Meyer : Sir.
Sam Daniels : You better tell him to squeeze it off, Sergeant.
Sergeant Meyer : Sir?
Major Salt : How about you give him a hand, Sergeant?
-
Sam Daniels : Why don't you just for once take a chance?
Robby Keough : You know what, Sam, I did, I married you.
-
Sam Daniels : If one of them have it then ten of them will have it and if one of them leave Cedar Creek then we're in deep fucking shit... we're already in deep fucking shit!
-
Major Salt : [flying a helicopter over a freighter boat] I can get you down close enough.
Sam Daniels : Close enough to what?
Major Salt : Jump, sir.
Sam Daniels : Are you serious?
Major Salt : Fine, *you* fly, and *I'll* jump.
Sam Daniels : Alright, just get me down lower.
-
Sam Daniels : Go without a mask you'll see better!
-
Sam Daniels : [after his ex-wife's just hung up on him] First we're fighting over the dogs now a virus. I can't believe this!
-
Sergeant Wolf : This could mean my stripes, sir.
Sam Daniels : It'll mean your ass if you don't get your finger on the phone. Finger it!
-
Sam Daniels : Sir, what did I ever do to make your life miserable?
General Billy Ford : You got up this morning, didn't you?
-
Sam Daniels : Can I ask you a personal question? What'd you do with the dogs? Please don't tell me you put them in a kennel.
Robby Keough : God. What would you think if I tied them to a tree and left a five pound bag of dog chow nearby?
Sam Daniels : That's what you did to me when you left me.

[Sam, Salt, and Casey are examining the virus via computer]
Major Salt : Okay, sirs, here we go. These pictures were taken over a period of eight hours. Normal, healthy kidney cells before they met the virus.
[the computer supports Salt's following claims]
Major Salt : In the space of an hour, a single virus has invaded, multiplied and killed the cell. And in just two hours, its offspring have invaded cells
[points at the screen]
Major Salt : here, and here. Continually multiplying.
[Salt clicks another button and the virus is shown to be spreading further]
Casey Schuler : Jesus Christ, five hours? It infects the cell, replicates, and kills this fast? These numbers can't be right Ebola takes days to do this damage.
Major Salt : Sirs, the numbers are correct. I wish to God they weren't. One goes in, millions come out. Every cell is dead.
[Salt begins to zoom in]
Major Salt : Now we see them individually, searching for the next victim until there's nothing left to kill.
Casey Schuler : Mark this day, Salt. We could spend our whole careers waiting to see a new virus.
[Salt zooms in some more]
Major Salt : Sirs, Mr. Motaba, up close and personal.
Casey Schuler : I hate this bug.
Sam Daniels : Come on, Casey. You have to love its simplicity. It's one billionth our size and it's beating us.
Casey Schuler : So, what do you want to do, take it to dinner?
Sam Daniels : No.
Casey Schuler : What, then?
Sam Daniels : Kill it.
-
Sam Daniels : Do you know the incubation period?
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : No. But it kills in two or three days. The mortality rate is 100%.
Sam Daniels : Jesus. Could an infected person have gotten out of the village?
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : If he did, he'd be dead or dying in the jungle. And it's 50 miles to the nearest village.
Sam Daniels : First case? Patient zero?
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : A young man called Murazo worked with a white man to build a-a road into Kinshasa. And when he returned, he was sick.
Sam Daniels : I see.
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : And he drank from this well. From there it spread through the entire village.
[Sam takes a look at the well, and then turns back to Benjamin]
Sam Daniels : Did you identify the carrier? The host?
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : No. When he arrived the boy was incoherent. He died, uh, two hours later. He couldn't tell us how he got it.
[Sam looks up and notices a healthy villager chanting on the hills]
Sam Daniels : He's not sick.
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : [looks toward the villager] He's a local juju man. Witch doctor. He stayed in his cave a whole week.
Sam Daniels : I'd like to talk to him.
Dr. Benjamin Iwabi : No, he talks to me. You see, he believes that the gods were awoken from their sleep by the men cutting down the trees where no man should be. And the gods got angry. This is a punishment.

[Robby, Aronson, and Ruiz arrive at the Cedar Creek Hospital]
Police Chief Fowler : Ray Fowler, chief of police. This is Mayor Gaddis.
Robby Keough : I am Dr. Keough, from CDC. This is Dr. Aronson and Dr. Ruiz.
Mayor Gaddis : Cedar Creek is a small town, doctor. We're like a family. Everybody's scared. I don't know what to tell them...
Robby Keough : I know, I know, and we're here to help you in any way we can. So from now on,
Police Chief Fowler : [referring to Sam as he enters] I thought he was in charge.
Robby Keough : [surprised] Sam...
Sam Daniels : Hi, Robby. They just set up the BL4 mobile unit.
Robby Keough : What are you doing here? I thought General Ford sent you to New Mexico.
Sam Daniels : [grins] He did.
[Robby grins back]
-
Sam Daniels : Sir, I sent you the fax six hours ago...
General Billy Ford : Sam, I am not going to issue an alert.
Sam Daniels : I don't wanna bust up your party, sir, butyou gotta issue an alert.
General Billy Ford : You said it was contained!
Sam Daniels : I said containment was probable. You should be monitoring the airports, you gotta...
General Billy Ford : Sam! Do you remember 1989?
Sam Daniels : Yeah.
General Billy Ford : You found two lousy cases of Congo fever in Nairobi and we put a note to every American kid's lunchbox. You remember that?
Sam Daniels : Yeah, I was wrong.
General Billy Ford : You were wrong.
Sam Daniels : Uh-huh.
General Billy Ford : What about 1992? Lassa fever?
Sam Daniels : I was wrong. Yup.
General Billy Ford : Wrong again. But you're right about this?
Sam Daniels : No, I could be wrong about this...
General Billy Ford : Yet you waltz into my party smelling like dirty socks, snatch me away from Senator Rosales, whom I need not remind you, Sam, is head of the Senate Arms Services subcommittee which is in charge of our fucking budget.
Sam Daniels : Forget Ebola. Forget Lassa. This bug kills so fast, Billy. You could be dead in...
General Billy Ford : Keep your voice down.
[beat]
General Billy Ford : Now, that is exactly my point, Sam.
Sam Daniels : What?
General Billy Ford : It is the very lethality of this virus which is working for us here.
[referring to his party guests]
General Billy Ford : These unfortunate people don't live long enough to spread the goddamn thing around. So you're right, it is contained.
Sam Daniels : I hope so.
-
Sam Daniels : Anything I can do to help?
Major Salt : Just don't make me nervous.
-
Sam Daniels : We are fugitives of the law. Idiocy is our only option.
-
Sam Daniels : Thank you, Mrs. - what was her name again?
Major Salt : Pananides!
-
Major Salt : See that bridge up there, Colonel?
Sam Daniels : Yeah.
Major Salt : Over or under, sir?
Sam Daniels : Why--why don't don't you decide? I'm not really up to it.
Major Salt : Hang on.
Sam Daniels : I'd have said over.
-
Sam Daniels : I don't need evidence, I got a feeling. Okay?
Robby Keough : Oh, you got a feeling. Okay, you know what, Sam, your feeling is in my notes.
-
General Billy Ford : Odds of Motaba causing any more problems are a million to one. You know that.
Sam Daniels : No. I don't know that.
General Billy Ford : Well, you should. And you would if you didn't harbor this morbid desire to face the end of the world.
-
Robby Keough : CDC's turned that place inside out. All Motaba negative.
Sam Daniels : No, test it again.
Robby Keough : My people know what they're doing, Sam.
Sam Daniels : Robby, get your people over there, tell them to test it again. And after that, tell them to test it again. And after they've tested it, tell them to test it again.
-
Sam Daniels : People are dying. It's about you being a doctor! It's about that sacred oath that we took, remember? Billy, we've been friends 20 years.
General Billy Ford : Yes, we're friends, Sam, but I'm also your boss! I run this outfit! It's not run by committee! You do what the hell *I* say you do! I'm your boss. I have my boss. Is that clear to you?
Sam Daniels : Yeah, get your boss on the phone. Call him. Tell him to put me on a plane before the two of you kill a lot of people.
-
Sam Daniels : This is not complicated, it's very simple. This thing kills *everything* in its path.
-
Robby Keough : This doesn't sound like you.
Sam Daniels : What?
Robby Keough : Imagining the best-case scenario.
-
Robby Keough : This monkey was infected with the original strain.
Sam Daniels : You're right. And do you know what that means? This is no experimental antiserum. E-1101 was designed to kill African Motaba. And they had it all the time.
-
General Billy Ford : We have to work together, Sam.
Sam Daniels : Are we?
General Billy Ford : Are we what?
Sam Daniels : Are we working together, sir?
-
Sam Daniels : Guys, guys, the monkey. Turn around.
Major Salt : Oh, my sweet Jesus. He should be dead by now. I guess the orange juice worked, huh?
-
Sam Daniels : This coffee sucks!
Casey Schuler : Sam, why don't you try to get a little sleep.
Sam Daniels : Why don't you get some sleep?
Casey Schuler : I slept back in July.
Sam Daniels : Yeah? Well, I got work to do. Don't tell me when I need sleep, Casey. I don't tell you when you need sleep.
-
Sam Daniels : How many hours of flight school?
Major Salt : 60 hours plus, sir.
Sam Daniels : Actual flying time?
Major Salt : Every minute, sir. I was yanking and banking.
-
General Billy Ford : You don't just do research and it ends there, Sam. We have to defend ourselves against the other maniacs who are developing biological weapons. That's the way the game is played. Yes, it was a terrible mistake to withhold E-1101; but we're beyond that now. We've done all we can as doctors. We have to go on - as soldiers.
Sam Daniels : You're gonna wipe out the town.
-
Sam Daniels : Come on. Come on. Open your eyes! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Look at me. Look at me. Casey, right here! Right here. Here I am! Here I am. Here I am. See me? There you are. There you are. How you doing? Huh?
Casey Schuler : I had a wonderful dream, Auntie Em.
-
Sam Daniels : Get us to San Francisco, Salt. They'll be on our tail, so follow the coast. The fog might give us cover.
Major Salt : Fog, sir?
Sam Daniels : Yeah, fog. You've flown through fog, right?
Major Salt : I've read about it, sir.
-
Sam Daniels : That's it.
Major Salt : That's it. We're there, sir.
Sam Daniels : There it is.
Major Salt : That's it!
Sam Daniels : There it is.
Major Salt : We're there, Colonel.
Sam Daniels : There it is.
Major Salt : We are there.
-
Major Salt : Sir, with all due respect, that is idiotic.
Sam Daniels : Idiotic? Let me ask you a question, are we fugitives from the law?
Major Salt : Right.
Sam Daniels : Idiocy is our only option.
-
Sam Daniels : If I hurt her, you can punch me in the nose. A serious punch - for a very serious nose.
-
Robby Keough : It's a pretty unique experience.
Sam Daniels : Sort of like living with me.
-
Major Salt : This is crazy.
Sam Daniels : They want their weapon.
Major Salt : They're gonna kill all those people?
Sam Daniels : Right. They want their weapon.
Major Salt : They're gonna sit there and watch all those innocent people die?
Sam Daniels : Yes, they want their weapon.
Major Salt : No!
-
Sam Daniels : Would you go through it again?
