Paris-based About Premium Content (Apc) has acquired international rights to the Norwegian drama “Requiem for Selina,” due to bow at Lille’s Series Mania International Panorama competition program March 24.

A hot property on the pre-sales market, the youth-oriented TV show from “Skam” commissioner Nrk has already secured major distribution deals with AMC Networks International Southern Europe for Spain and Portugal, Dr for Denmark, Yle for Finland and RÚV for Iceland, while the domestic premiere on the Norwegian pubcaster is set for March 15.

Oslo-based creative studio Anti’s head of production Ingunn Rensel and head of development Emmeline Berglund are serving as producer and creator/co-writer respectively. Longlegs, one of the most anticipated horror films of the year, has quickly surpassed a significant milestone.

Starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, the Neon-distributed film has grossed over $30 million globally within a week of its release.

By Wednesday, the movie reached $25 million domestically and soon after surpassed the $30 million mark.

A week after its theatrical debut, the film boasts $52 million worldwide, reports The Numbers.

Maika Monroe’s performance in Longlegs further cements her status as a scream queen and a horror genre icon.

She recently opened up about her heart-racing encounter with Nicolas Cage on the movie set.

In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Monroe recounted her first encounter with Nicolas Cage in character, an experience orchestrated by director Osgood Perkins.

Perkins kept Monroe and Cage apart until a climactic scene, aiming for an authentic reaction.

"Longlegs" hit movie theaters this week, and it's already an unprecedented hit for indie studio Neon. Apparently, audiences have been craving horror-themed thrillers for adults.

The film is centered around Lee Harker (modern scream queen Maika Monroe), a young FBI agent hunting a serial killer (Nicolas Cage) in 1990s Oregon. "Longlegs" is a clear "Silence of the Lambs" riff but director Osgood Perkins doesn't go for a straightforward procedural. When it comes time to explain the killer, he uses the same themes of supernatural evil as in his previous pictures, this time within the frame of the late 20th century Satanic panic.

English band Broadcast will release two new demo collections in 2024: Spell Blanket – Collected Demos 2006-2009 (out May 3rd) and Distant Call – Collected Demos 2000-2006 (out September 28th).

Broadcast, the electronic dream pop project of James Cargill and Trish Keenan, who died of pneumonia in 2011, previously reissued their entire discography in 2015. Now, Cargill is unearthing dozens of demos collected over a 10-year span. According to a press release, Spell Blanket comprises of “songs and sketches” from Trish’s “extensive archive of 4-track tapes and MiniDiscs” that would have eventually served as Broadcast’s fifth album.

Distant Call, on the other hand, comprises of early demos that eventually would appear on their albums Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, and The Future Crayon. Richard Franklin, who is best known for his roles in Doctor Who and Emmerdale, died on early Christmas morning at the age of 87.

The news was confirmed by longtime friend Líam Rudden, who shared the news via social media on Monday on behalf of the family.

“It is with great sadness, that the family of Richard Franklin have asked me to share news of his passing, early this morning. Richard passed away peacefully in his sleep. Details of funeral arrangements will be shared here when announced. Sleep well Richard,” Rudden’s post reads.

On Saturday, the Trilogy Tour kicked off at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., with Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin performing for their excited fans. On Tuesday, they traveled north to Toronto where they continued to wow audiences.

The trio of superstars first announced their tour back in May on social media.

The global superstars brought their arena run to Capital One Arena on Saturday night (October 14) in Washington D.C.

The show is the first time the trio shared the stage, featured three unique headlining sets from each icon, starting with Pitbull delivering hits like “Time of Our Lives” and “Give Me Everything.”

Enrique kept the party going with smashes like “Bailando” and “El Perdón,” while Ricky followed with his own global hits, including “Vente Pa’ Ca,” “La Mordidita” and “Maria.”

The 25-city tour continues with two nights in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena before hitting cities like Boston, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and more before wrapping up at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on December 11.

This is Why Cinema and Inna Payán’s Animal de Luz Films have licensed drama “Todo el silencio” (“All the Silence”) to Prime Video. This follows that of Animal de Luz’s licensing of Katina Medina Mora’s “Latido” (“Heartbeat”) to the giant platform.

“All the Silence” marks the debut feature of award-winning theater director Diego del Rio, based on a screenplay by “La Jaula de Oro” writer, Lucia Carreras.

The drama centers on Miriam whose life is a testament to her love of sign language. In the mornings, she dedicates herself to teaching it, and in the afternoons, she immerses herself in the world of theater. Her girlfriend, Lola, as well as her parents and numerous friends, are all members of the deaf community. However, her world is shattered when she discovers that she, too, is losing her hearing. Faced with this harsh reality, Miriam refuses to accept her fate.

Prime Video Latin America has snapped up streaming rights to Katina Medina Mora’s latest film “Latido” (“Heartbeat”), starring Oscar-nominated Marina de Tavira (“Roma”).

This is the third feature from Medina Mora, whose credits include episodes of Netflix hit “Emily in Paris,” Apple TV+’s “Swagger” and romantic drama, “LuTo,” her debut feature picked up by Netflix. Its trailer debuts exclusively on Variety.

“Latido,” which has its world premiere at the Mill Valley Film Festival and its Mexican premiere at the Morelia Film Festival, turns on 45-year-old Leonor, played by De Tavira, who works for an Ngo that supports young athletes. Craig Heaney's role as Private Roy W. Cobb in Band of Brothers was a breakout role and the highlight of his career, with no other projects as prominent or lasting. Heaney's acting career seemed to have ended after his final role in The Queen in 2009, as he has not appeared on-screen since then. Prime Video has acquired Korean drama The Kidnapping Day, starring Yoon Kye-sang and Park Sung-hoon, for all global territories excluding Korea and mainland China.

Produced by Korea’s AStory, the 12-part thriller black comedy series will be available weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting from September 13. The series will be broadcast by pay-tv network Ena in Korea.

Based on the Korean novel of the same name, the story follows a father turned clumsy kidnapper and a genius child working together to uncover the truth behind a series of murders and mysteries.

Yoon, who recently starred in Kiss Sixth Sense, plays the desperate father who decides to kidnap a precocious child in order to pay for his own daughter’s hospital bills. Park, whose credits include The Glory, plays a detective investigating the kidnapping.

Marcus Plantin, a British TV executive best known as ITV’s first Network Director and as a producer on The Two Ronnies, died Friday. He was 77.

The news was confirmed by Plantin’s family this afternoon. He passed away following a long illness, according to a former colleague who posted on social media.

Born on October 23, 1945, in Surrey, Plantin was a storied program maker and decision taker, known for producing beloved British comedy series The Two Ronnies and light entertainment hits such as The Generation Game, where he began his career.

He produced and directed hundreds of shows during a 14-year run at the BBC before moving to ITV affiliate London Weekend Television in 1985, where he developed a reputation as a light entertainment expert, working to create popular shows such as Blind Date.

In 1992, he was named network head at ITV, making him the most powerful player in UK commercial TV.

Prime Video is expanding its global slate of Korean dramas with vampire-themed fantasy romcom HeartBeat, starring Ok Taec-yeon.

Produced by Korean broadcaster Kbs, the series will be available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide outside of Korea starting Monday, June 26. New episodes of the 16-episode series will be available weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Ok previously starred in Let’s Fight Ghost, Vincenzo and Blind. In HeartBeat, he stars opposite Won Ji-an, whose credits include Hope Or Dope, If You Wish Upon Me and D.P.

In Heartbeat, Ok plays a vampire who sleeps in a coffin for 100 years in the hope of experiencing true love, but is awakened one day early by a cold-blooded-yet-mesmerizing woman (Won), who has no time for romance.
