In the early 1990s, the programming wizards at NBC realized they might be leaving advertising dollars on the table by not providing adolescents a Saturday morning entertainment bridge from cartoons to live-action sitcoms that reflected, in that garish sitcom way, their middle to high school lives. The only serious counter-programming threat in these hours was "Yo, MTV Raps!," so for kids who were more into bubblegum pop than hard-hitting rhymes, there was a demand not being met. And thus the Tnbc block was born.
The linchpin of the Tnbc block early in its heyday was "Saved by the Bell." What began as a spinoff of "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" -- which started on NBC before moving to The Disney Channel -- became a Saturday morning mainstay for both kids looking to do a whole lot of nothing on their morning off from school and hungover adults who knew better but...

Paramount+ is known for hosting some of the best TV shows on any streaming platform, and in January 2025, the lineup remains just as strong as ever. The first month of 2025 sees the arrival of the original Matlock TV series as it joins the new Kathy Bates reboot. This classic courtroom drama, starring Andy Griffith, includes all nine seasons. Sci-fi fans get a treat in January, as the new Star Trek series Section 31 premieres on January 24. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.
The biggest news coming in December was that Paramount+ is removing several TV shows from its streaming service. This isn't anything new since both Paramount and Showtime removed several shows last year. The streaming service axed several Nickelodeon shows, including Doug, Blue's Room, Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Fanboy & Chum Chum, The Penguins of Madagascar, Big Time Rush, and Breadwinners (via Us Weekly). "Bones" was led by David Boreanez and Emily Deschanel as FBI agent Seeley Booth and forensic anthropologist Temperance "Bones" Brennan, respectively. But while this duo were the core of the series, no TV show can last a full 12 seasons without some support from other cast members. In the case of "Bones," the Fox procedural was undergirded by a wide array of supporting characters and guest stars who helped to give the series its enduring appeal. Alongside the team of "squints" at the fictional Jeffersonian Institute Medico-Legal Lab — the idea for which was brought to the show by a real detective — there was an array of guest stars who helped expand the "Bones" universe, many of whom became fan-favorites.
Just take Patricia Belcher, who played U.S. Attorney's office federal prosecutor Caroline Julian. She remains the only "Bones" guest star to appear in every season of the series from 2005-2017. First...

There's definitely a sweet spot when it comes to how long a TV series should run. Some go on seemingly forever until they're shallow visages of what they used to be. Then, there are the shows that displayed a ton of promise in just a few episodes but got canceled for one reason or another. When it comes to the latter, you know exactly what we're talking about. Perhaps you were even part of a fan campaign to try to bring one of the following shows back on the air. Sadly, the whims of studio executives know no mercy, even when a show ends on a massive cliffhanger that'll no longer get any resolution.
These are the shows that broke all of our hearts. These series canceled after one season managed to get us invested so quickly, and now, we're left to wonder what might've been had more people tuned in initially.

The life of a child actor can be a Faustian bargain. On the one hand, these kids get to play make-believe for hours at a time, and if their parents don't mess things up, make enough money in the process to secure their futures. On the other, without the maturity to handle the spotlight and all its temptations appropriately, things can go very wrong, especially if their childhood cuteness doesn't translate into adult charisma as they age out of the parts that made them successful.
Sometimes fans just won't let child stars grow up. Sometimes, it's just baggage that needs to be overcome, like when Brie Larson's child actor experience made her hesitant to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They might realize that they never should have played the roles they did, especially if they're R-rated. Not every child actor wants to keep acting either. For those who decide...

AnnaLynne McCord plays “Abigail” Dimera on Days of Our Lives. Before that, she was known for playing Naomi Clark on CW’s 90210 reboot. Naomi was the classmate every girl wanted to be, and every boy wanted to date.
McCord acted like a “little brat” on the teen soap. Now that she looks back, she appreciates it more. McCord revealed that she met with the original cast of Beverly Hills 90210, including the late Shannen Doherty.

In an interview with TV Insider, McCord spoke about her time on the 90210 reboot. She looks back at those times fondly. The first elimination for “Dancing With the Stars” Season 33 saw the most fan votes the ABC ballroom dancing competition show has ever seen.
As “DWTS” geared up for its first elimination of the season during its Sept. 24 episode, the show scored over 14 million fan votes, per ABC, marking the most fan votes ever received for a single episode over the course of the show’s 30+ seasons.

Exclusive: Ever since Dancing with the Stars launched in 2005, ABC has kept secret the number of viewers who vote for their favorite celebrity hoofers — until now.
Whether it’s the participation of two popular Olympic athletes or the controversial addition of convicted felon Anna Delvey, ABC says engagement in their variety show is stronger than ever.
The September 24 episode that saw Delvey the “fashionista” and Beverly Hills, 90210‘s Tori Spelling go home received more than 14 million fan votes, the most received on a single episode in series history.
That means more votes are being tallied today than when NFL star Hines Ward and Kym Johnson won in 2011’s most-watched Season 12, when a whopping 22 million-plus viewers tuned into the show. Voters can vote for which celebs they want to keep via text or via dwtsvote.abc.com.

Bert and Ernie. Mulder and Scully. Jesse and Walt. Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and Walter White (Bryan Cranston) are among the greatest television odd couples of all time, but their incredible journey was almost stopped short more than once, both onscreen and off. Despite the fact that Jesse would go on to be the heart and soul of "Breaking Bad," series creator Vince Gilligan originally planned on killing him off by the end of the first season. However, the chemistry between Paul and Cranston was just too good to cut short and Jesse became a much bigger part of the show, lasting through the end of the series and even into his own follow-up movie, "El Camino."
Originally, though, AMC had problems with casting Paul as the sweet-hearted and foul-mouthed meth dealer. In fact, there were three other well-known actors in the running against him that the network preferred. Eventually,...

On Tuesday night, the former Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars. The actress was paired with pro partner Pasha Pashkov.
On the following misSPELLING podcast episode on Wednesday, Spelling said, “I really didn’t have a gut instinct that we would be voted off. Listen, I’m a realist. I came into this with no dance experience, and I didn’t expect to win a Mirror Ball.”
Also present on the podcast episode was Spelling’s manager, Ruthanne Secunda, who expressed her opinion on the elimination: “I think it’s an outrage.”

From the outside looking in, it seems like Dancing with the Stars should be one of the simplest and most drama-free reality shows. After all, the show sometimes seems like it is just a simple opportunity for Real Housewives to learn how to dance. However, the show is so much more than some observers may realize, as evidenced by how complicated the process of making the show's pairings is.
Sadly, there has also been a lot of DWTS drama involving how much more the stars get paid than the dancers and pros who don't like their partners. However, there is a bright side to the show, as evidenced by the fact Tori Spelling revealed DWTS made her "even better" at something surprising.

Tori Spelling recently opened up about the 90210 Reboot that debuted in 2019. Along with many of her Beverly Hills, 90210 costars, Tori made a comeback to the small screen. Tori Spelling Has No Regrets
Many people are currently watching Tori Spelling compete in Dancing With The Stars this season, but fans know her from the original Beverly Hills, 90210. She acted alongside Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Luke Perry, and Jason Priestly, among others.
In the 2000s, the CW premiered a 90210 reboot. Many of Tori’s former castmates returned to reprise their roles, but some of them had regrets. Tori Spelling made it clear she didn’t feel that way at all.

Jennie Garth is finally opening up about how not being able to say ‘no’ made her appear on a show she regrets.
However, Garth wasn’t the only one who bottled up her personal feelings about the show to please some people. Here’s every hot tea that was spilled during the reunion.
The thing is, we’re in the era of reboots and sequels, remakes and revivals – if the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ can get rebooted, everything can. Some reboots have worked, some have failed, and others have been mildly successful.
Just because something was beloved by fans at one point, does that mean we need it for a new generation? Now there’s a HBO ‘Harry Potter’ series in the works, and it better be worth my time.
Speaking of something being worth somebody’s time, starring in ‘CW’s 90210’ reboot was definitely not worth Jennie Garth’s time.

John McNaughton is a filmmaker without prejudice when it comes to genre or budget; the stark horror of “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” is as far from the deliriously gorgeous excess of “Wild Things” as that film is from the experimental documentary “Condo Painting,” and “Mad Dog and Glory” proves McNaughton could have been an accomplished studio stylist had he chosen to go that way.
The variety in his work stems from how McNaughton has always seen directing — and life — as an endeavor that necessitated trying new things. “Before I became a filmmaker, there were many things I wanted to do, and I did them,” McNaughton told IndieWire. “I joined a traveling carnival, built sailboats, and when I lived in New Orleans, I wound up buying silver jewelry and cutting gemstones. Because life is an adventure. And once I became a filmmaker, it was a similar thing.”

Tori Spelling is not homeless, but neither does she have a place to call home.
Even if Tori is a little too broke for The Real Housewives, she has lived in some high-end rental homes following her separation from Dean McDermott.
The fortune she once had from her time as a 90’s teen icon, daughter of a media mogul, and reality star reportedly has all dried up. Tori is making ends meet where she can.
That’s probably while you’re seeing her compete on Dancing With The Stars this season.
So why is Tori Spelling “homeless,” moving from rental property to property? And what is her living situation right now .

The actress, who reprised her role as Kelly Taylor in 90210, which ran from 2008 to 2013, shared that she regretted participating in the remake during a recent panel at ’90s Con in Florida. “I wish I hadn’t done it. No offense to them,” she said, via People.

Garth, Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling were the only original actors to return for 90210, which starred Shenae Grimes-Beech and AnnaLynne McCord and followed wealthy kids at West Beverly Hills High School.

Warning: This article includes mentions of sexual assault.
For super-producer Aaron Spelling, the man behind such preposterously entertaining television series as "Charlie's Angels," "The Love Boat," and "Dynasty," the best case scenario for the high school drama "Beverly Hills 90210" was that it would be a Thursday night counterprogramming hit. It certainly wasn't going to win its 9 Pm time slot. Though NBC was experimenting with its 9:30 spot (it eventually found a fairly decent fit in "Seinfeld"), "Cheers," the top-rated show on television, had the front end of the slot on lockdown. But, hey, perhaps Spelling and the show's young creator, Darren Star, could siphon off enough young viewers to convince Fox to give it a second season, preferably on a different night.

Jason Priestley has been a television icon since the '90s, which has resulted in a sizable net worth. The Canadian actor is of course best known for playing the morally upright Brandon Walsh in the hit teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, but Priestley successfully transitioned from a teen idol to a multifaceted entertainer. In addition to acting, he also works behind the camera, and has directed many TV episodes. He's since returned to his roots, starring in Canadian series like Call Me Fitz, Private Eyes, and most recently CBC's Wild Cards, which was just renewed for a second season.

Shannen Doherty’s mother Rosa has taken over hosting duties for her late daughter’s “Let’s Be Clear” podcast, the mother announced this week, following Doherty’s death from breast cancer. “I am now going to be doing my best to try to continue this for her because that’s what we discussed that she wanted me to do,” Rosa explained. “And, of course, I’m not her. I could never be her. I’m not as well-spoken as she was. But, I’m here for all of you, and I hope you’re all here for me.”
Rosa also spoke in the Thursday episode about the importance the podcast held in her daughter’s life throughout her fight against cancer. “This podcast meant so much to Shannon, because it allowed her to tell her story and tell her truth,” she said.

Darren Star attempted to lead the teen sex revolution in the early ’90s, and it was almost televised.
The Emmy Award winner recently recalled that network executives “demanded” he write an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 in which Brenda (Shannen Doherty) expressed “remorse” after having sex with her boyfriend Dylan (Luke Perry) in the first season’s 1991 penultimate episode ‘Spring Dance’.
“When all these affiliates realized what they’d aired, a lot of them got bent out of shape,” Star told Vulture. “And it wasn’t just the fact that Brenda had sex but that she enjoyed it. When we came back for the next season, they demanded there was an episode where she had remorse. I was like, I can’t believe I have to write this. She had a pregnancy scare. She realized she was too young to have sex.”

The Beverly Hills 90210 cast, including Jennie Garth, were either teens or in their early 20s when the popular show made a splash in the 90s. All these years later, they are coming together in a big way to mourn the loss of one of their own, Shannen Doherty.
Beverly Hills 90210 Was One Of The Biggest Shows Of Its Time
Beverly Hills 90210 was the quintessential 90s teen drama of its day. While all of the main actors were either in their late teens or early 20s, many of them remained in the spotlight even after the show wrapped. Certainly, that’s how big of an impact the show had in its time.
Many of the cast members were able to branch out into other projects and build on the initial exposure that Beverly Hills 90210 gave them. Outside of the main cast, many people who got supporting/recurring...

Francine Pascal, the author best known for creating hit teen book series “Sweet Valley High,” has died. She was 92.
Pascal died on Sunday in New York, the New York Times reports. The cause of death was lymphoma Pascal’s daughter, Laurie Wenk-Pascal, told the newspaper.
“Sweet Valley High” debuted in 1983 after a friend remarked to Pascal there was no teen version of 1980s soap “Dallas.” Pascal was reportedly inspired to create the series, about blonde Californian twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, immediately. The books went on to spawn hundreds of sequels and spin-offs detailing the twins at different ages, ranging from middle school to college. There were also some wackier books which saw the twins mixed up in murders and even supernatural events.
Only the first 12 books were written by Pascal although she wrote most of the outlines for the others. A TV adaptation of the books ran for four...
