Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Toxic Town, Despicable Me 4 – Pictures: Paramount Pictures, Netflix and Universal Pictures

A new month is just around the corner, but Netflix is concluding in February with some big new releases. Below, we’ll be tackling all the new confirmed titles on the way to Netflix (specifically in the US – other regions’ lineups will vary) with headline titles, including the debuts of Venom: The Last Dance and Despicable Me 4, plus some big new Netflix Originals.

Note: This list is partially incomplete, given that Netflix has yet to send its “New on Netflix” newsletter to the press. That’s coming on Wednesday, so stay tuned! We’re tracking all the new additions coming for Netflix US for March 2025 here.

Let’s kick off with some of our most anticipated upcoming titles heading to Netflix this week:

Most Anticipated New Releases on Netflix This Week Venom: The Last Dance...

Victor J. Kemper, the cinematographer behind “Dog Day Afternoon,” “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” “National Lampoon’s Vacation” and other notable films, has died. He was 96.

American Cinematographer, the international publication of the American Society of Cinematographers, confirmed the news of his passing on social media.

One of Kemper’s most prominent films is the biographical crime drama “Dog Day Afternoon” (1975), directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Al Pacino. The film, which tells the true story of a 1972 bank robbery and hostage situation in Brooklyn, was nominated for six Academy Awards and was admitted to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

Kemper also had an ongoing collaborative relationship with director Arthur Hiller, working together on films like “The Tiger Makes Out” (1969) and “See No Evil, Hear No Evil” (1989). Other prominent directors he worked with include John Cassavetes, Anthony Harvey, Michael Ritchie, Elaine May, J. Lee Thompson and Elia Kazan, among many others.

Victor J. Kemper, the veteran cinematographer who shot more than 50 features, including Dog Day Afternoon, Eyes of Laura Mars, The Jerk and Slap Shot, has died. He was 96.

Kemper died Monday of natural causes in Sherman Oaks, his son, Steven Kemper, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Kemper earned his inaugural D.P. credit on Husbands (1970), written and directed by John Cassavetes, then shot Elia Kazan’s final feature, The Last Tycoon (1976) and Tim Burton’s first, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985).

Kemper also did six films for director Arthur Hiller — The Tiger Makes Out (1967), The Hospital (1971), Author! Author! (1982), The Lonely Guy (1984), See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) and Married to It (1991) — and three in a row for Carl Reiner: Oh God! (1977), The One and Only (1978) and The Jerk (1979).

Southside With You...

With the new month come new arrivals to all TV and movie streamers, including Hulu. The August 2022 slate contains many classic re-watch options as well as new seasons of original shows and new movies as well.

For those who couldn’t get enough of Keke Palmer in Jordan Peele’s latest movie “Nope” (2022), one of her breakout films “Akeelah and the Bee” (2006) has landed on Hulu. Tom Hanks’ “Cast Away” (2000), Natalie Portman’s “Black Swan,” the first two “Despicable Me” films and Tobey Maguire’s “Spider-Man” trilogy also arrive this month.

FX’s “Reservation Dogs” Season 2 arrives exclusively on Hulu Aug. 3. The Hulu Original film “Prey” arrives Aug. 5. “Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers” premieres on Hulu Aug. 15. Another exclusive heading to Hulu later in August is Steve Carell’s limited series “The Patient,” available to stream Aug. 30.

You ever notice how HBO’s releases tend to do the heavy lifting in HBO Max’s content library? That makes plenty of sense given that HBO has a track record of producing hits well before the streaming era even began. Well, a similar concept is now playing out over on Hulu. Like many monthly releases before it, Hulu’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by a whole bunch of FX TV shows.

The initiative once known as “FX on Hulu” is no more but that’s not stopping the cable network-turned quality TV brand from churning out some intriguing titles for the streaming world this month. It all starts early on with season 2 of the delightful comedy Reservation Dogs on Aug. 3. That is followed up by the docuseries Children of the Underground on Aug. 13, Little Demon on Aug. 26, and The Patient of Aug. 30. The most interesting of the bunch,...

Wait a minute. Are we somehow half way through the year already? That feels impossible but here comes month number five all the same. With its list of new releases for May 2021, Amazon Prime is highlighting some of its more intriguing original series in awhile.

The first original of note is The Underground Railroad. This series from Barry Jenkins tells the story of one woman’s desperate bid for freedom in the Antebellum South and arrives on May 14. After that comes Solos. This intriguing anthology has one hell of a cast including Anthony Mackie, Dan Stevens, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Constance Wu, and more. The project will premiere on May 21 and each of its seven episodes promises to be quite different.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest comedic pairings of all time was Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. Stir Crazy, Silver Streak, Another You ... each had its charm, ranging from the story of a runaway train to a comedy directed by one Sidney Poitier. But my favorite has always been See No Evil, Hear No Evil -- a ridiculously plotted ball of laughs that allowed Wilder and Pryor to be their perfect -- and ultimate -- dysfunctional duo selves.

The film revolves around an unlikely friendship between a blind man named Wally (Pryor) and a deaf man named Dave (Wilder). They meet, become friends, and then find themselves embroiled in a messy murder. The cops don't believe them, and the crooks want them dead. Innocent yet desperate bystanders, they set out to stay alive and bring the bad guys to justice -- one of whom just so happens to be Kevin Spacey.

Hollywood costume designer Arlene Coffey and her son have been found dead in her New York apartment in an apparent murder-suicide, according to police.

Coffey, 73 - who had worked on hit TV show The Sopranos - was discovered in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head on Sunday.

The body of her 53-year-old son David Coffey was reportedly discovered in another bedroom. He had a bullet wound to his head and a gun in his hand.

The pair had shared the Union Square apartment for the past 50 years.

It is believed the bodies were found by the son of the building's superintendent, Carlos Flores, after he was unable to reach the occupants by phone.

According to the building's owner, Noah Osnas, no one reported hearing gunshots.

A low-calibre gun with two shell casings was found at the scene.

Arlene Coffey's credits as a Hollywood costume designer include The Sopranos and 1980s films The Cotton Club and Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder drama See No Evil, Hear No Evil.

Coffey, the widow of well-known cinematographer Joseph Coffey, was known to be battling cancer.
