Ask Bruce Campbell, and he’ll tell you he’s “sick of over-trained heroes. I’m really bored with that. Guys that are just ripped to shreds and, you know, full of skills. That’s boring to me. Give me the mechanic that picks up a weapon, you know? Now I’m interested. That’s my hero. That could be me.”
Ash Williams of the Evil Dead franchise is that hero. Part of the lasting appeal of the best character Bruce Campbell has ever played is that the audience can see themselves in him, like if they were pressed into fighting an army of Deadites, they could take up the mantle, the chainsaw, the boomstick, and mow down wave after wave of the undead masses.
He is a man that should have been an A-List superstar and in the eyes of his fanbase he is…. which is all that really matters in the end.

Black Noise is the latest film to follow in the footsteps of Predator and takes a group of highly trained professional soldiers and sends them to a remote location on what should be a simple mission only for it to turn into a battle with something beyond their comprehension. Earlier this year Island Escape added a few twists to make it feel fresh, can Black Noise pull off the same feat?
A large man, uniformed and armed, flees through a Carribean rainforest. Whatever he’s running from must be dangerous, his uniform is torn and he’s battered, bloody, and panicked to the point of shooting at moving foliage. Reaching a house he sees a quad parked in the yard, just what he needs to escape. But...

The ’80s live! Wamg recently got its hands on the new terrific, epic, 482-page book The Untold, In-depth, Outrageously True Story Of Shapiro Glickenhaus Entertainment by Marco Siedelmann, Nadia Bruce-Rawlings, and Stephen A. Roberts. This interview collection takes us back into the roaring 1980s, when the home video market changed the whole world of film making. For a short time, everything seemed possible, and in a way everything was possible. Shapiro Glickenhaus Entertainment was in the right place at the right time. Ok, I’ll admit it. I have a soft spot for Robert Dyke’s 1989 sci-fi horror Moontrap. I have ever since the weekend I rented it and 1990′s The Dark Side of the Moon and was blown away by both space-faring terror tales. Which is probably why I own multiple copies Moontrap; well that and the fact there hasn’t been a perfect release of the film on DVD or Blu yet… So when a sequel was announced decades after the release of the film, it’s safe to say my interest was peaked. In fact we first wrote about the sequel, titled Moontrap: Target Earth, way, way back in 2014. Then things went all quiet on the sci-fi front. Until last month.

It’s been over two years since we last reported on the film but today the creators of Moontrap – the Bruce Campbell starring cult sci-fi feature – have announced that Moontrap Target Earth, the long-awaited sequel, will be released in the Us on February 7th 2017.
Moontrap Target Earth comes from Robert Dyke and Tex Ragsdale, the director and writer of the original film and stars indie film favorite Sarah Butler (I Spit on Your Grave remake), stars with Damon Dayoub (Stitchers) and Charles Shaughnessy (The Nanny).
Moontrap Target Earth continues to explore the concept of an ancient Earth civilization that mastered space travel and colonized the Moon. “We always believed that there were more stories that could be told in the ‘Moontrap Universe’ we created,” said writer Tex Ragsdale. Director Robert Dyke added, “It just took us a lot longer than we anticipated to agree on one.”

The weather could not have been nicer for Wizard World’s first ever Cleveland comic convention. (I say this, because in Northeast Ohio half a foot of snow is usually the best welcome we can offer to newcomers.) After a good trudge through the slush-covered streets, I managed to step out of the chill air and into the press of con-goers. Despite the icy conditions, Cleveland’s convention center was packed with attendees.
Soon enough, the crowd would be divided, forming lines for booths and celebs (like fellow Kent State alum Dolph Ziggler). As with any Wizard convention, the same complaints come to mind. There were very few comic related guests in attendance. The focus was given mostly to the old standbys from the Wizard group. Jason David Frank, William Shatner, and others were all in attendance. There were a few booths set up for independent comic companies, like Action Lab,...

Our Olive Films rep has informed us that Mantrap is making its way to Blu-ray on November 18th. A 1980s cult classic, Moontrap stars Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead) and Walter Koenig (Star Trek's original Chekov) as astronauts sent to the moon to investigate evidence of what appears to be signs of human life.
They reanimate the body of a woman (Leigh Lombardi), who warns them that the moon is under the control of a race of alien cyborgs, which have been awaiting the opportunity to stage their invasion of Earth. The humans realize that desperate measures must be taken to halt the cyborgs' departure from the moon -- even if it ends in their own destruction.

Every day seems to bring a new release celebrating the anniversary of some well known movie from the past. Moontrap may not be that well known, but Olive Films is honoring the Walter Koenig/Bruce Campbell sci-fi horror flick’s 25th anniversary with its first ever DVD/Blu-ray release.
It would probably be fair to call Moontrap an obscure film these days since it has never been released on DVD or Blu-ray (at least in the Us) since its brief theatrical run and video release all the way back in 1989. VHS and gray market DVDs have been the only way to see the movie until now.
The best way to describe Moontrap to the uninitiated is to imagine a Stuart Gordon-esque splicing of Alien and Hardware.
Synopsis:
During a routine flight, two veteran space shuttle pilots ("Star Trek’s" Walter Koenig and Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell) discover an...

What is Liquid Red? I’m not entirely sure. “Moontrap” director Robert Dyke’s upcoming genre-bending effort is giving off some seriously strong Cronenberg vibes, and I kind of dig what I’ve seen thus far. The trailer starts out kind of slow — the first 90 seconds involve nothing more than an increasingly distressed lady speaking directly to the camera — but once the crazy kicks in, you’ll be glad you stuck around. I may not know what Liquid Red is, but I’m extremely curious to find learn more. Here’s hoping this one shows up sooner, you know, rather than later. Check out this synopsis, courtesy of Shock Till You Drop: Liquid Red stars Debra Port as a woman experiencing an alien invasion, murderous clones, mad scientists, the last days of planet Earth and zombies. Even stranger are her encounters with a sexy movie star (Caprice Benedetti) and power-mad...

Horror filmmakers are special people. Just their inborn desire to scare the living shit out of anyone that sits down to watch their work is notable enough, but what would happen if a filmmaker got caught up in her own nightmares? The answer is Liquid Red.
We just received a ton of new images as well as a pretty chilling trailer for Robert Dyke's new movie Liquid Red. The film stars Debra Port, Caprice Benedetti and Vince Grant. Dyke's company, Scout Productions, working in association with Detroit-based Wall Street Productions, recently completed Liquid Red with an anticipated release later this year.
From the Press Release
A beautiful filmmaker finds herself trapped in the fantasies and horrors of her movies. That idea jump-started Robert Dyke (director of Moontrap and Timequest, both featuring cult god Bruce Campbell) to create Liquid Red.

Moontrap and Timequest helmer Robert Dyke (who did the miniatures on Evil Dead II) is back behind the camera for a bizarre slice of cinema called Liquid Red.
The film thrusts a female filmmaker into the surreal fantasies and horrors of the movies she makes. "This concept combining my favorite genres of horror, fantasy and science fiction got me excited," said Dyke, "and this would give me the opportunity to do a show piece for professional talents I waned to work with again."

His name is Bruce Campbell, and this time he's fighting Frankenstein. We may never see Campbell in a Bubba Ho-Tep sequel or another installment in the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness franchise, but it looks as if we are definitely getting a follow-up to Campbell's self-parodying My Name is Bruce.
Ain't It Cool News got word from the man himself that Bruce vs. Frankenstein is officially on the way.
"Hello everyone. Bruce Campbell here. This urgent message is short, because my keystrokes are monitored and I fear for my life. My partner at Dark Horse comics, Mike Richardson (normally a very rational and talented man), threatened to have his foot soldiers "crush my spleen" if I did what I am about to do. But the fans deserve to know, so with great trepidation I officially announce Bruce Vs. Frankenstein, the sequel to My Name is Bruce. Principal photography begins this fall in Oregon.

A director/star vehicle in which the director/star plays himself might be viewed as a vanity project—but anyone who knows Bruce Campbell is unlikely to expect that from My Name Is Bruce. Aimed squarely at the loyal fan base that loves the knowingly vainglorious attitude Campbell brings to both his genre roles and his convention appearances, the movie is a slight but frequently amusing self-deconstruction that, with a 90-minute wink, presents the least flattering portrait of the actor possible.
The Bruce onscreen is an alcoholic has-been who lives in a trailer, insults his co-workers on cheesy sci-fi flicks (other than those females he considers attractive enough to mack on) and doesn’t treat his fans any better. Played by anyone but Campbell, he’d probably be insufferable.
Instead, the actor creates a very funny alter ego and, as My Name’s director (working from a script by Mark Verheiden), brings a light,...
