A thrilling neo-noir packed with action and deceit, Val Kilmer is excellent in the tension-filled slow burn, just a few years after his breakout role in Top Gun as Iceman. Michael Madsen also stars in the film and takes it to a whole other level as a psychopathic killer that raises the stakes in gruesome ways. Steve Golin, an Oscar-winning producer who was founder and CEO of Anonymous Content, died Sunday in Los Angeles of cancer. He was 64.

Golin was a pioneer in blending the business of talent management with production. Anonymous Content, which Golin founded in 1999, worked with a stable of big name artists such as Steven Soderbergh, Emma Stone, Edgar Wright, Ryan Gosling, Alfonso Cuaron, and Cary Fukunaga to shepherd such movies and TV series as “Spotlight,” “The Revenant,” “13 Reasons Why,” HBO’s “True Detective” and “The Knick” and USA’s “Mr. Robot.” He was an executive producer on the upcoming series “Catch-22.”

“As a prolific producer of film and television, Steve Golin was a man of impeccable taste and unmatched instincts,’ HBO said in a statement. “Those of us at HBO fortunate enough to have worked with him, also knew him as a true gentleman and a superb partner. We are deeply saddened by this loss.

Summer is coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the binge-watching has to stop.

A number of original series and popular movies are hitting Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime in September. New offerings on Netflix include the mega-hit “Black Panther,” along with the streaming giants’ new show “Maniac” with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime is debuting “Forever,” which stars “Saturday Night Live” alums Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph. Over on Hulu, Sarah Silverman’s “I Love You, America” will drop its second season.

And if you want to get ahead on a horror movie marathon before Halloween, there are also plenty of scary flicks that will be added throughout the month. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” is coming to Netflix, while both Amazon and Hulu will carry “The Amityville Horror” and “Jigsaw.”

New titles available on Amazon Prime next month include Amazon original series like “Six Dreams” Season 1, the second half of “Wishenproof” Season 2, “Pete the Cat” Season 1, “Forever” Season 1 and “King Lear” Season 1.

Some classic comedies will also become available in September, like the original “Ghostbusters,” “Jerry Maguire,” and “Smokey and the Bandit.” In more of a dramatic mood as the weather shifts? Dramas like “Sleepless in Seattle” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan should do the trick.

Other movies arriving include newer flicks “Future World,” “Beirut,” “Strangers Prey at Night,” “Pistorius,” “Stronger,” “On Chesil Beach,” “My Little Pony,” “Hot Summer Night,” “Escape Plan 2,” “Jigsaw” and “Suburbicon.”

Beat the back-to-school blues with new movie titles like “13 Going on 30” and “Sixteen Candles” hitting Hulu on Sept. 1, as well as new and favorite fall TV series.

The Hulu original series “The First,” starring Sean Penn and Natascha McElhone, is about a group of astronauts attempting to be the first humans on Mars. It premieres on Sept. 14, and new episodes of Sarah Silverman’s “I Love You, America” will arrive on Sept. 6.

Fall TV also arrives next month, and you’ll be able to watch premieres of network hits like “This Is Us” on Sept. 26, “9-1-1” on Sept. 24 and “Grey’s Anatomy” on Sept. 28. New shows will also become available after they premiere, like “Manifest” on Sept. 25, “New Amsterdam” on Sept. 26 and “A Million Little Things” on Sept. 27.

Hulu has announced the new titles that will be available to stream on the platform during the month of April. Leading the pack is the new original series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” based on Margaret Atwood’s classic novel of the same name and starring Elisabeth Moss. The series premieres April 26.

One of the best of the neo-noirs, Kill Me Again put director John Dahl on the map as a man to watch, much like Carl Franklin and the nervous mini-classic One False Move.

March 22nd’s Blu-ray and DVD releases are an eclectic bunch, featuring a handful of cult classics, a thriller with the likes of Val Kilmer and Michael Madsen, Goth Katie Holmes fighting against the oppressive nature of her educational system, cowboys taking on prehistoric creatures, and a special edition of Fear the Walking Dead’s inaugural season. Yes, there’s truly something for almost every genre fan.

Notable home entertainment releases arriving this Tuesday include Disturbing Behavior (from The X-Files alum David Nutter), The Black Sleep, Donovan’s Brain, Kill Me Again, All Hell Breaks Loose, Curse of the Poltergeist, Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs, and as mentioned above, Fear The Walking Dead​: The Complete First Season Special Edition.

An upcoming horror film called Kill Me Again has recently kicked off pre-production. The film will star actress and producer April Washko and will be directed by Steven Rodriguez.

By the time John Dahl had directed his third feature – 1994’s The Last Seduction – critics had anointed him as a contemporary torch bearer – perhaps the lone, consistent one – of the film noir ethos. Even today, with his filmography having grown to include the less noir-ish thrillers Unforgettable (1996) and Joy Ride (2001), a tale of card sharks prowling New York’s underground big-money poker circuit in Rounders (1998), and a true story of Ww II adventure and valor in The Great Raid (2005), Dahl’s name is still most closely associated with modern day noir thanks to the three indelible thrillers which launched his career: Kill Me Again (1989), which he co-wrote with David W. Warfield, Red Rock West (1992), on which he collaborated with his brother Rick Dahl, and The Last Seduction, written by Steve Barancik.

NEW YORK -- Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired all worldwide rights to Kevin Bray's gang action thriller Linewatch starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Omari Hardwick and Evan Ross.

Gooding plays Michael Dixon, a one-time Los Angeles gang member who escapes his neighborhood to become a respected U.S. border patrol officer in New Mexico. But his peaceful life with his wife and daughter is threatened when a chance encounter leads the gang's psychotic leader, Drake (Hardwick), to his door, forcing Dixon to take extreme measures to protect his family.

Ross plays Dixon's nephew Little Boy, who sought out Drake as a surrogate father when Dixon disappeared and finds himself in the middle of their conflict. Sharon Leal plays Dixon's wife.

Sony is eyeing a 2008 theatrical release for the Motion Picture Corporation of America production, shot on location this summer in New Mexico.
