The fans spoke, and at least one network listened.
At first, it didn’t seem like any of the new time-travel series were going to make it out of the 2016-2017 season alive. The CW’s “Frequency” was dead, Fox made “Making History” history, ABC’s “Time After Time” ran out of time, and NBC’s “Timeless” also got the ax this past week.

The most interesting question to put to Sam Esmail, creator and showrunner of the best new series to come out of the Us this year, only came to me on my way out of the interview, while stood on the lushly carpeted staircase of the Mayfair hotel hosting the Mr Robot junket. It’s this: how does Esmail’s show square its anti-capitalist, anti-corporate themes with a Us home on an NBCUniversal channel owned by multi-billion dollar corporation, Comcast, and now a UK home on Amazon Prime? That, I would have liked to have asked.

But then peanuts earned "Jericho" another season and Deadline.com earned "Breaking In" another season and Netflix got all resurrection-y with "Arrested Development" and "The Killing" and "Longmire." 25 years ago today, one of the best films about video games hit theaters -- and made Everyone want a Power Glove.Yep, we're talking about "The Wizard."The film is about a mute kid (Luke Edwards) who travels with his brother (Fred Savage) and a runaway (Jenny Lewis) across the country to compete in a video game competition. While the 1989 movie wasn't exactly a smash hit, it became a cult classic -- and popularized both "Super Mario Bros. 3" and the aforementioned glove. In the flick, video game pro Lucas Barton (Jackey Vinson) wields the special controller while saying the movie's most infamous line: "I love the Power Glove, it's so bad."You really just have to watch him do it:But what happened to the film's stars in the last 25 years?Savage would continue starring on "The Wonder Years" until it went off the air in 1993. While he continued to act,...

Christian Slater has signed on to USA Network’s upcoming hacker thriller serial, Mr. Robot. Nabbing the titular role, Slater will topline his first show after his star turn in ABC’s Mind Games.
Before we address who exactly Slater’s character is, let’s take a look at the show’s premise. Thanks to Deadline, we’ve got a decent amount of detailed story information that has piqued our interest. Mr. Robot “centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.”
It’s a surprise that there’s still such interest in hacking, especially since it’s unlikely any series or movie could ever better 1995’s Hackers.

Fifth time's the charm? USA has cast Christian Slater in the title role of its drama pilot Mr. Robot. Nope, he doesn't play an android. The show is about a programmer who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He wields his skills as a weapon to protect the people that he cares about. He then finds himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations that are recruiting him to bring down corporate America. Christian Slater has a new title: Mr. Robot.
The Mind Games and Breaking In alum has landed the title role in USA Network’s cyber-crime pilot, which centers on a mysterious anarchist (Slater) who recruits a brilliant cyber security engineer (24‘s Rami Malek) into an underground hacker organization intent on bringing down corporate America.
The potential series also stars Portia Doubleday (Her), Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory) and Martin Wallström (Simple Simon).
Slater’s TV credits also include a turn as a literal robot: In NBC’s short-lived My Own Worst Enemy, he played a secret agent implanted with a dual-personality-triggering computer chip.

Easily the most anticipated new show of the season is Gotham, and if you weren’t able to attend the premiere party, here’s the next best thing.
It was clearly quite the party, and even if you aren’t among the hopefuls looking for this to become your next favorite show, it’s a series that absolutely has to be watched… for a while at least. Just based on the cast and crew, and any connection to Batman, you have to check out what they do with this thing. And, I have to say, Donal Logue. The End.
And again, even if you aren’t already sold, there’s something interesting about the idea of expanding on the early years, beyond just the flashback that sets Bruce Wayne in motion.
Well, you may as well check out what went on, and get all the more excited for next week’s premiere of the show.

One of the most interesting new shows landing on television this fall is Fox’s Gotham, which charts the rise of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) from new cop on the block to the troubled city’s police commissioner long before the Dark Knight ever arrived on the scene. Though a Batman-related show without the pointy-eared crimefighter may sound like a tough sell on paper, trailers for the series have done a great job of selling it as a gritty police drama filled with easter eggs for comic-book aficionados.
The brief new teaser for Gotham focuses on Gordon’s reputation as the city’s white knight, “the last good man in Gotham,” while also teasing gangster Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and familiar faces Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) and Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor). The show is set to be filled with similarly iconic characters from the Batman comic-book mythology, including...

In a changing of the self-titled comedy guard, TV Land announced on Tuesday (July 29) that it has given a series order to "The Gaffigan Show," while also confirming that "Kirstie" has been cancelled after only one season. As you might guess, "The Gaffigan Show" comes from best-selling author and Hot Pockets enthusiast Jim Gaffigan. The single-camera comedy has been ordered for 10 episodes and will shoot in New York, premiering in 2015. Based on Gaffigan's experiences balancing fatherhood, stand-up comedy and "an insatiable appetite," "The Gaffigan Show" has played an interesting version of network hopscotch. The project, created by Gaffigan and Peter Tolan, was developed and shot for CBS in 2013 and then redeveloped and shot this spring. It will now air on TV Land, with Comedy Central securing rights to air episodes one week after their premiere. “I am thrilled that TV Land is giving us this opportunity to do this show that Peter,...

Fox’s upcoming series Gotham, which charts the struggles of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to clean up the streets of Gotham City long before Batman ever arrived on the scene, fared very well at Comic-Con this year. The pilot episode was screened in Hall H on Saturday night to major applause from attendees – in particular, Sean Pertwee’s edgier Alfred Pennyworth was a hit, and audiences also loved Gordon’s action heroics.
Now, a new trailer for the series has arrived, including teases for Oswald Cobblepot’s (Robin Lord Taylor) transformation into the villainous Penguin and a better look at the fateful night in Crime Alley when young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) lost his parents to an armed mugger. There’s a lot of other exciting stuff on display in this trailer as well, including some cool lines from Gordon, glimpses of Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and more of...

Fox is ramping up publicity for its buzzy new series Gotham ahead of its September debut, and now, hot on the heels of an appealing teaser for the show, we’ve been treated to a new crop of images by Entertainment Weekly, which featured Gotham in a recent issue. There are no startling revelations in the shots, though I don’t recall seeing much of Wayne Manor, home to a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and butler Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee), before this point.
Other pics include shots of protagonist James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), the new addition to the Gotham City Police Department destined to become the troubled city’s police commissioner; ruthless gangster Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith); Mooney’s underling Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), who may be developing an affinity for penguins in this series’ run; and Alfred, a much younger iteration of the character than DC Comics...

Most DC comic-book fans are eagerly anticipating this fall’s Gotham, a Fox series that explores the early days of James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), destined to become the city’s Police Commissioner and one of the Caped Crusader’s most trusted allies.

A new set of character posters for the show has surfaced online today, including ones for those aforementioned villains and more, along with a lengthy synopsis. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit worried before reading the first reactions to Fox’s new Batman prequel series, Gotham. I’m incredibly excited for the show, and seriously hope that it lives up to its potential. However, one could easily see where the series could go horribly, horribly wrong, and many were left skeptical by its first trailer.
Sure, it will be great to see a Batman show on television, but the series runs the risk of falling into typical prequel tropes, and spending too much time winking at the audience instead of telling good stories that fully utilize the Gotham-before-Batman concept.
Well, if these early reactions are any indication, we have nothing to worry about, because Gotham appears to have delivered on its promises and established a great foundation for what we hope is a stellar season. The pilot episode was screened for...

It was only a week ago that Fox announced it had picked up Gotham to series, which means we’ll be getting 16 episodes that will air on Monday nights at 8pm staring in the fall. Since then, we’ve seen a few promo images, plot details, and a great trailer that give us a clear picture of what to expect from the Batman-less prequel.
Now, the marketing push continues, as over a dozen new images have been released. We’re treated to a shot of detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) talking to a young Bruce Wayne, presumably at his parents’ crime scene, and we also see a glimpse of what looks like an intense showdown between Gordon and the future Penguin, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor). We also get a look at Penguin’s boss, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Gordon’s partner, Harvey Bullock, (Donal Logue) at a slaughterhouse.

The first trailer for The Flash will debut after this week’s season finale of Arrow on Wednesday, but a new promo for that episode has offered up a very brief look at the iconic DC superhero speeding into action.
For a TV budget, the effects appear to be very impressive, and should help put aside any doubts over whether or not The CW will be equipped to do the Scarlet Speedster justice on the small screen. Be sure to wait right until the end, especially as it appears as if Green Arrow will also be in The Flash pilot!
Of course, The Flash will be joined this Autumn not only by a third season of Arrow, but also Constantine and Gotham. The latter series has today released a lengthy new synopsis for the Batman prequel along with a great batch of character promo images and stills from the highly anticipated pilot episode.

In case you hadn't guessed from the trailers being released for this new series, Fox has announced that they are officially giving a full 22 episode season order to Gotham. There's a huge audience out there for a show like this, and from what I have seen of it so far, it looks like it's going to deliver the goods. If you haven't seen the trailer for the show yet, click here.
The pilot episode was shot recently, and the network obviously really liked what they saw. The series stars Ben McKenzie as a young James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Cory Michael Smith as Riddler, and Carmen Bicondova as Catwoman. According to the report, the Joker will even have a role in the series. You can check out all of the character photos by clicking here.
