Do any of you hardcore horror fanatics remember Mirror Mirror from 1990? It had a theatrical release, but garnered much of its popularity on the shelves of Blockbuster Video stores nationwide and became a late-night cable staple for several years throughout the decade. And yes, it should be considered somewhat “popular” since it spawned three sequels. If you haven’t seen the original Mirror Mirror, don’t worry because Dark Force Entertainment, headed by Demon Dave, has released it in 4K Uhd. That means you Og fans of this B-movie classic can relive some sense of nostalgia from that decade, now in 4K clarity.
Let’s dive into the film’s plot. Megan Gordon and her mother Susan move to L.A. and into a new home to begin their equally new lives. The previous residents left behind a lot of their belongings that are being sold by an auctioneer named Emelin.

The Sundance Film Festival is regarded as one of the most prestigious independent film festivals, where filmmakers have been premiering their movies and documentaries since 1984.
The festival was founded in 1978 by Sterling Van Wagenen, the head of Robert Redford’s company Wildwood, and John Earle of the Utah Film Commission under the name Utah/US Film Festival to attract more filmmakers to Utah.
Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981 to foster independence, risk-taking, and new voices in American film. That year, 10 emerging filmmakers were invited to the Sundance Resort in the mountains of Utah, where they worked with leading writers, directors and actors to develop their original independent projects.
By 1984, the festival had established itself and was officially renamed the Sundance Film Festival after Redford’s character in his 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. That year, the Grand Jury Prize in Dramatics was awarded to Old Enough, an...

For four decades, Sundance has maintained a reputation as one of the most important film festivals in America for independent filmmakers from around the globe. To commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2024 and the enormity (and reciprocity) of that cultural footprint, festival leadership set a series of restoration screenings to highlight many of the most memorable films programmed throughout its history.
“When you look at the way the independent film movement has evolved and changed over the years, from the maturation of an industry and the opportunities that artists have found, to the way that an audience has been built around the work, you see a festival that has evolved alongside it,” says John Nein, senior programmer and director of strategic initiatives.
This year’s festival takes place Jan. 18-28, in person in Park City and Salt Lake City, with a selection of titles available online nationwide from Jan. 25-28. The...

Folks! It is finally happening. One of the best anime shows ever made, as well as the one good adaptation of one of the greatest manga of all time, is finally coming to streaming.
At a time when availability is becoming an important issue in media as big corporations are erasing entire titles from existence with the push of a button, concepts like piracy as historical preservation are being discussed in a new light, even by creators. If there is literally no legal way to watch a show, should you pirate it? Does it hurt a show when, after years of unavailability and bootlegging, it finally becomes available? "Neon Genesis Evangelion" was a hit on Netflix when it finally became available to stream and got everyone talking about it for the first time in years.

Having previously entered distribution deals with Netflix for reality, drama and entertainment series, Japan’s Nippon TV is expanding its relationship with the streamer, licensing 13 of its most popular anime titles to the platform in a non-exclusive pact.
Some series will go wider than others, notably Hunter X Hunter whose first 38 episodes will be added to Netflix in 104 countries including Spain, Italy, Finland, Turkey, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the UAE on September 1. That same day, Ouran High School Host Club will be available in 190 countries, and Claymore in 136 countries.
The new partnership builds on previous deals for Nippon TV reality series Old Enough!, as well as 30 of its biggest drama series and entertainment shows which air on Netflix in its Asian markets.

Selena Gomez ended up with bags of onions and makeup multiple shades darker than her skin tone in a hilarious SNL sketch that spoofed Old Enough.
The original Old Enough is a 90s series that hails from Japan shot documentary-style as filmmakers follow toddlers on errands for their parents, which recently began streaming in the U.S. via Netflix.
In the Saturday Night Live sketch remake, instead of sending young children to the store, subjects send out their adult partners with a list of things to buy for them. Gomez plays Kelsey and her long-term boyfriend Matt is played by Mikey Day.
Matt preps for his big trip out into the world with a little help from Kelsey, who gives him everything he needs: a giant water bottle, a messenger bag, and a huge yellow flag emblazoned with the word “Stop.”

If you haven’t yet experienced the pure joy that is Netflix’s Old Enough! (which is actually a long-running show from Japan, Hajimete no Otsukai), do that. Next month’s Criterion Channel selection is here, and as 2021 winds down further cements their status as our single greatest streaming service. Off the top I took note of their eight-film Jia Zhangke retro as well as the streaming premieres of Center Stage and Malni. And, yes, Margaret has been on HBO Max for a while, but we can hope Criterion Channel’s addition—as part of the 63(!)-film “New York Stories”—opens doors to a more deserving home-video treatment.
Aki Kaurismäki’s Finland Trilogy, Bruno Dumont’s Joan of Arc duology, and Criterion’s editions of Irma Vep and Flowers of Shanghai also mark major inclusions—just a few years ago the thought of Hou’s masterpiece streaming in HD was absurd.

“Any guy who says he started playing guitar for any other reason than meeting girls is lying.” That's not an exact quote, but it's the gist of what some rock star once said. I was thinking it was either John Mellencamp, or maybe Tom Petty. But the internet is telling me otherwise. Fact of the matter is, I don't remember who originally spouted that pearl of wisdom I've been carrying for decades, but cut me some slack – I'm getting old. Old enough, at least, to remember the 1980's rock 'n' roll scene. Old enough to have been enamored with the novelty and electricity of early music videos. Old enough to identify with the ringing authenticity of Sing Street – an utterly charming coming of...

They’re feeling weird feelings about each other that they can’t explain. Their parents are probably starting to piss them off. Their parents who are probably us. We could be the parents of...

With her sleepy, seductive eyes and patrician, pack-a-day voice, the actress enters the room of Humphrey Bogart’s world-weary fishing-boat captain, Harry Morgan. She calls him “Steve” even though that is not his name, and offers him money to help him get out of a fix—we get the impression that it’s merely the latest in a long line of fixes resulting from hard luck and muddled politics that Bogie’s character will have to get out of. He stubbornly refuses her offer. Pride and all that. She falls into his lap and plants a kiss on his unexpecting lips.

It’s all well and good committing crime virtually, isn’t it? Via a digitised avatar on your telly box, I mean. Do pretty much what you please in that regard – that’s what video games are for. A playground for the imagination. And as I’m sure everyone in existence is aware, last year’s critically exalted Grand Theft Auto V was a pretty good barometer for that, suggesting that maybe you should rob that bank, and then kill those 500 policemen on the way out. And maybe that one woman on the drive home, too, because she accidentally bumped into your car (that you stole).
But we’re all well-rounded adults here. It’s just a game, etc., and – anyway – I”m talking about actual crimes. The type you go to an actual prison for. Or get fined a huge amount of money for. Or maybe just have...

For 19-year-old Logan West, being Miss Teen USA definitely has its perks, like the opportunity to help other young women.
When Logan West was named Miss Teen USA on July 28, 2012, her whole life changed. During a recent visit to HollywoodLife.com, she revealed exclusively what it’s been like living with Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and former Miss USA Nana Meriwether, what she wants to do to help the youth — and what dating is really like.
Logan West: I Took A Stand Against Bullying
Receiving the Miss Teen USA title meant many things to Logan — most importantly that she got to stand up against bullies, something she admits she struggled with:
I was bullied when I was in the seventh grade by a student who told me I did not act my skin color, but I had no idea what bullying was. I didn’t really know how to describe it.

It’s now twelve Premier League matches into his maiden season at the helm of Liverpool Fc, and with the former ‘top 4’ club sitting in lowly 11th place, just how do Fenway Sports Group (Fsg) measure the success of their summer appointment?
With the mercurial talent of Luis Suarez carrying the team over the line whether it be to steal a draw at Stamford Bridge or to stop the nail-biting at Anfield with a well-taken brace, Brendan’s revolution is under way but is it enough for a group of fans who expect success and American Owners who want more exposure via the highly coveted Champions League places?
In all honesty, sitting in 11th place will not appease either Fsg or the Kop but what will is the improvements the club has shown in recent weeks under Brendan’s guidance. This article will look at four of those positives…

Hours after Us Weekly released photos suggesting that Kristen Stewart cheated on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with "Snow White and the Huntsman Director" Rupert Sanders, the actress issued a groveling apology.
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Stewart said in her emotional apology issued to People magazine. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
But some have questioned why Stewart even felt the need to apologize.
Comedian Kathy Griffin, notorious for poking fun at celebs for their less-than-stellar moments, had some advice about cheating for the 22-year-old "Twilight" starlet.
Oh Kristin Stew, have u learned nothing from men in Hwood ??:) Lie & make the Guy feel crazy! #schwarzenegger

While the Olsen twins are now more primarily known for their impressive fashion empire and unconventional style, they also have a distinct look -- big eyes, super-petite and blond hair (or as Jamie Kennedy once referred to them on a memorable episode of Cribs, "baby Cameron Diaz's").
But Mary-Kate Olsen recently decided to drastically change it up, dying her hair completely dark brown.

Mk debuted the new look at last night's 2012 Cfda Fashion Awards in New York City, sporting a super-straight hairdo and tucking her hair behind her ears to show off a pair of heavy drop earrings you just know cost more than your car.
The new 'do makes her look a little more mature, no?
... Perhaps it has something to do with her rumored new boyfriend, Olivier Sarkozy, who's 17 years her senior?

Celebrity shoe man Steve Madden pretty much confirmed everyone's suspicion that Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen aren't the most ideal co-workers, when he candidly called them a "pain in the ass" to work with at last night's star-studded Italian sneaker brand Superga's SoHo party.

"They are difficult. They are exacting," he told Fashionista.com, after calling their collaboration experience on both the twins' Elizabeth and James shoe line and now the Superga sneakers "painful." "They are a pain in the ass. But they're very good though."
"They're very demanding, they're very tough," he continued. "You know, just tough, tough. They want what they want. And so we worked hard to get that done."

What else is there to say about Tim Burton? At this point, he's been working the same sort of thematic and visual material for thirty years now. And how old am I? Old enough to think of Burton as "relatively recent" in terms of working directors. It's easy to reduce Burton's work to his stylistic signatures and his incredibly familiar color palette. When you see a Tim Burton movie, you know you're watching a Tim Burton film. You may hate the film you're watching, and I've certainly felt that way several times in his career, but you still have to acknowledge...

Old enough or not, HollywoodLifers, You think Miley is one bada** bondage babe!
We couldn’t help but notice the love of bondage-wear in Hollywood so we put together a round up of those our favorite bondage babes and asked You who was the hottest, and though she is just legal it was a hands down win for Miley Cyrus! So why is she the sexiest bondage girl when most 18-year-olds wouldn’t be let out of the house in these outfits? The only rhyme and reason I can find behind this one is that Miley has some seriously devoted fans! Though many claim Miley has alienated her younger followers with her vamped up looks, others seem to be cheering her on. Whether Miley decides to go good or bad she seems to have a Huge fan base in both areas who are not going anywhere!

Man, it has been a long time since I've heard anyone even mention the movie Silent Scream. It seems as if it's been lost a good long time. Thankfully a new DVD label known as Scorpion Releasing is changing all that, and the DVD will be hitting home in November! Hell yeah!
From the Press Release
A new DVD label, Scorpion Releasing, announces the 11/24/09 DVD release of one of the highest grossing slasher films from the golden age of the slasher genre, reaching number one at the box office in February of 1980. For the first time on DVD anywhere in the world, Scorpion Releasing is proud to present Silent Scream, the classic slasher film featuring Barbara Steele in one of her most terrifying roles. Out of circulation for decades, the film has recently been mastered in HiDefinition by Scorpion Releasing, and will be sure to shock a whole new generation of horror fans.
