On-screen love interests Frank Morgan and Billie Burke also appeared three years later in The Wizard of Oz (1939) as The Wizard/Professor Marvel and Glinda the Good Witch of the North respectively, but they never shared any scenes together.
The game that Jim and Lord Frederick are playing on the ship is called "deck tennis," which is an offshoot of Tennikoit, or "ring tennis." The general object of the game is to catch the ring, without it touching the court, after it is tossed (served) over the net by the opposing player. Then, the ring is tossed back quickly from the same spot. A ring touching the court scores a point for the player tossing it. The rules can vary, with the game scoring being either similar to tennis (15-30-40-Deuce, etc.), or similar to badminton with a game consisting of 21 points (win by two).
