Robert Pattinson will be returning to play the caped crusader in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II, which gears up for release in 2026. The actor was cast as Bruce Wayne in 2022’s The Batman and despite a barrage of initial protests, his performance was duly appreciated upon release. The film has also been regarded for its unique visual language and storytelling.
Recently, Pattinson’s Tenet co-star John David Washington was asked about his love for Batman and if he would ever want to play the role. While Bruce Wayne has been the primary Batman, there have been some other versions, including an African-American version by Stan Lee. However, John David Washington seemed to leave the job to his co-star.

Stan Lee, one of the greatest creative minds from Marvel Comics, had the crossover opportunity of a lifetime to create his version of DC Comics Justice League. With an all-star team of artists, Stan Lee gave his all with these Marvelized replicas of DCs most famous superheroes.

Stan Lee predicted Green Lantern's connection with the Green twenty years ago, now reflected in DC canon. The Just Imagine series reimagined Green Lantern as a nature god powered by the Green. Lee's vision for Green Lantern ties humanity's willpower to natural preservation, reflecting the official DC storyline.
One of the biggest reveals for the Green Lantern in DC history was actually first predicted twenty years ago by the late Godfather of the Marvel Universe, Stan Lee. Fairly recently, it was revealed that the Green Light of Will (or the willpower of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum) is connected to Green, the source of Swamp Thing's power.
Believe it or not, the prospect of a Green Lantern being powered by the Green was predicted in Just Imagine Stan Lee with Dave Gibbons Creating Green Lantern #1 by of course Stan Lee, Dave Gibbons, Dick Giordano, and Alex Sinclair. As a series, Just Imagine...

Fresh off her hit “Padam Padam,” Kylie Minogue has dropped her new single and title track from her upcoming 16th studio album Tension.

Kylie Minogue just wants to feel the beat of your heart, going “pa-dam, pa-dam” (as she writes it), on her new single, “Padam Padam.” In the video, Minogue writhes, wiggles, and shivers as her sheer, red cape defies the laws of physics floating all around her as she and her dancers, all dressed in red, beat their hands on their hearts. “Padam, padam, I hear it and I know,” she sings over a techno-pop backdrop produced by Lostboy, “Padam, padam, I know you want to take me home.” She also...

Jon Hassell, the avant-garde composer and trumpet player who collaborated with artists like Talking Heads, Brian Eno and Ry Cooder in addition to his explorations into “Fourth World” music, died Saturday at the age of 84.
“After a little more than a year of fighting through health complications, Jon died peacefully in the early morning hours of natural causes,” Hassell’s family said in a statement on social media.
“His final days were surrounded by family and loved ones who celebrated with him the lifetime of contributions he gave to this world– personally and professionally.

1980 produced a variety of horror films (as this week’s amazing pieces are demonstrating); from the dead serious to the utter ridiculous. The Children stands out from the others in the way that it bridges these two extremes. It has some silly moments and some moments that strike some batshit chords, but it comes from a very legitimate fear that was unique to this timeframe. The fear of nuclear energy and the resulting toxic waste was very real towards the end of the Cold War, and The Children is a film that is very of this moment. It is also insanely fun.
As Max Kalmanowicz’s film opens, we see a couple of workmen investigating a possible leak at the Ravensback nuclear power plant. It’s an investigation in name only, as they decide that finding a leak isn’t really worth their effort and knock off early for a beer instead.

Supreme Leader Snoke may be comparable to Emperor Palpatine in that Andy Serkis’ humanoid alien has been angled as the ultimate big bad of Disney’s current Star Wars saga, but whereas the prequels outlined every step of Palpatine’s rise (descent?) into Darth Sidious, Rian Johnson has vowed to exercise some restraint when it comes to Snoke and his place in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
What we do know, though, is that he’s the master puppeteer pulling the strings behind the First Order – the modern incarnation of the Galactic Empire, essentially – and prefers to command his troops from afar. That’s a strategy we saw unfold in The Force Awakens, when Snoke relayed instructions via a floor-to-ceiling hologram.

Fox is said to be in talks with Disney over the sale of its film business. But this might not be great news...
There’s been an understandable level of enthusiasm surrounding news that 21st Century Fox is considering selling its film business, and that Disney is in the box seat to snap it all up. From a fan point of view, that means that the film rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters would revert back to Marvel, thus offering even more options for the Marvel cinematic universe.
Furthermore, one lesser-known side effect: Fox still holds the home entertainment rights to Star Wars: A New Hope. That would become Disney property too. Just imagine the boxset.
But whilst in the case of Fantastic Four – and possibly Star Wars - at least, I can see the upside of this, I can’t help wondering if a...

Working Title, the film company behind Four Weddings and Bridget Jones, plans to open a school in London. Just imagine what could be on the Curtis-icculum
The films of Working Title offer an uncannily accurate depiction of exactly how life in the UK isn’t. Love Actually, Four Weddings, Bridget Jones, Notting Hill – all charming little pantomimes of townhouses in leafy Zone 1 streets, plummy accents, inexplicable affluence and dithery and apologetic lovemaking. No one in London has ever lived like this, partly because no one knows how to. This makes news that Working Title plans to open a school for 16- to 19-year-olds in 2019, training a diverse new generation of filmmakers, quite intriguing. Could it also teach us how to achieve a life as seen in Working Title’s films? Could you finally lead an existence Richard Curtis himself would be proud of? The answer, dear reader, is an emphatic “perhaps.

Even though it's very early, It 2 is easily one of the most anticipated movies of 2019. Given how well received It has been, that alone is going to bring a lot of attention to the sequel. But there's also the matter of who is going to play the adult members of The Losers Club. One popular bit of fan casting has been to have Jessica Chastain play the adult version of Beverly. Now, the actress has signed off on the idea herself.
Jessica Chastain is currently promoting her new movie Molly's Game. She was recently doing an interview with her co-star Idris Elba and she was asked about the possibility of taking on the role of Beverly in the It sequel. While she can't commit just yet, Chastain wouldn't rule it out and expressed her love for director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti. Here's what she had to say about it.

Sometimes, only sometimes, Hollywood serves up exactly what its audiences asks for. Just last summer, many of us asked for “Bad Moms” breakout Kathryn Hahn to gain more recognition for her comedic chops. But not like this: Enter “A Bad Moms Christmas,” a fast-tracked, holiday-themed sequel to the surprise smash hit (nearly $185 million worldwide) that giddily plays up all the worst impulses of Hahn’s indelible character Carla, culminating with the Emmy nominee spouting off the year’s most eye-popping line: “It was almost like waxing the balls of the Dalai Lama.”
You want raunchy Kathryn Hahn, you’re gonna get it, care of a slapdash followup that has mostly forgotten what made the original so weirdly charming.
Set soon after the events of the original film, “A Bad Moms Christmas” follows the eponymous bad moms as they attempt to work through the most stressful time of the year — aka the holidays.

Joss Whedon may not be as closely affiliated with the McU as he once was, but the filmmaker clearly still has a soft spot for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Following The Avengers and its somewhat underwhelming sequel, Age of Ultron, Whedon parted ways with Marvel Studios, during which time he toiled away on an untitled WWII horror pic. Of course, Joss Whedon was still actively involved in a handful of superhero projects (see: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) post-mcu, and later signed on to spearhead a Batgirl spinoff for the DC Extended Universe. But Whedon’s first foray into the Warner Bros. franchise would come much sooner.
Cast your mind back to May of 2017, when Zack Snyder announced plans to step down from Justice League in light of a personal tragedy, and you’ll no doubt remember the moment when Whedon answered the call, before later ordering a series of reshoots to lighten the film’s tone.

Look away now, Universal, for Max Landis has conjured up a pitch that would bring together horror’s slasher icons for an unforgettable event movie.
While appearing on Nerdist’s The Writers Panel podcast (via Bloody Disgusting), the Chronicle scribe revealed his far-flung idea for a franchise crossover, one in which Freddy Krueger, Chucky and even Jason Voorhees inhabit the same universe. It’s a little out there, and Landis is known for pitching crazy ideas for shits and giggles – sometimes they stick (see: Bright), whereas others fade into obscurity.
But let’s entertain this potential doozy for a moment. The elevator pitch for Landis’ horror crossover would center on a “John Boyega from Attack the Block” type 17-year-old who is placed in the care of a picture-perfect suburban family…on Elm Street. From there, things get weird, as our protagonist is poisoned by his new parents and begins to dream of Freddy Krueger.

Bigger than a Star Destroyer? Bigger than the Death Star? Bigger than the Starkiller Base? It certainly looks like it. But sometimes looks can be deceiving and we've come a long way since 1977. Director Rian Johnson is putting the finishing touches on Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And he's sitting in an editing bay as we speak, making sure it's the sequel we all hope and dream it will be. From this editing bay, he has sent out one hell of an image. One very fiery, hellish photo that could spell certain doom for any number of individuals in the Star Wars galaxy.

Imtiaz Ali’s eagerly awaited Jab Harry Met Sejal is a lengthy lumbering, baggy and pointless love story….as lengthy, lumbering, etc, as his earlier Tamasha where two grown-up individuals behaved like a bratty unpleasant couple on a reality-show pretending to be people they were not.
Just imagine if Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone met again in an exotic land and decided to play….ummm…. a cranky closet-misogynist tourist guide and a fast-taking vacuous but charming Gujarati tourist.

In the hours since viewing Dunkirk – the newest film from surprisingly divisive blockbuster director Christopher Nolan – one sensory recollection has stuck out above all others. Every time that British spitfire pilot Farrier (Tom Hardy) accelerates or banks his plane, the soundtrack fills with the noise of metallic rattling, an uncomfortable chorus of knocks and pings that lets you know exactly how much stress and force are working on the riveted metal of the aircraft. It is enough to make the audience member grip his or her armrest and go tense, holding their breath lest their exhalation somehow force the machine apart. On the screen, the yolk trembles and the canopy trembles, and all the while that sound lets you know that these are not tricks of the eye. This is very much a device built by human hands, piloted by a man who depends on it to live, and who...

A few months ago, Sony Pictures had an early press presentation for The Emoji Movie. Tony Leondis (Igor, Lilo and Stitch 2), the film's writer and director, introduced the characters, explained the basic premise, and showed us several extended clips of the film. The Emoji Movie stars comedian T.J. Miller as Gene. He's supposed to be a "meh" Emoji, but can't control himself to be just one thing. Gene lives in the smartphone of Alex (Jake Austen), a fifteen year old teenager. When Gene has issues being just "meh", he's forced to go on the run with Jailbreak (Anna Faris). They navigate the wild and varied world of apps to find Gene's true personality.
From Sony Pictures, The Emoji Movie is packed with symbolism and wicked double entendres. Each Emoji has a distinct personality that fuels their dialogue. Patrick Stewart costars as Poop, everything he says and does has a scatalogical bend.

I’ll get this out of the way now: Transformers: The Last Knight is by far the worst movie of the year, and quite possibly, of the last few years. It’s headache inducing, overlong, incomprehensible, and offensive. I would say that this movie was edited for children who couldn’t keep their attention span focused for more than five seconds, but based on some of the film’s “humor” and language, I wouldn’t recommend any kid seeing this movie. Director Michael Bay has outdone himself here, and this is after I honestly thought the Transformers series could not get any worse after the dreadful Age of Extinction. The new film may be called The Last Knight, but it should also be Bay’s last movie.
I should also mention that I am not a Transformers hater. The first installment came out when I was in the seventh grade and it instantly became one of my favorite movies. Over the years, I have come to accept that it is not a perfect movie, but it is still fun and holds up remarkably well. I was crushed by how awful the second installment, Revenge of the Fallen, was and had given up on the series. The Dark of the Moon was a slight improvement, and you already know my feelings on the fourth film. So, the first film came out at the right age for me and I still love to watch it, but later installments have left me questioning why I ever loved this series in the first place. The Last Knight has left me questioning how we’ve allowed Michael Bay to direct movies for this long.
The Last Knight features the Knights of the Round Table, an evil Optimus Prime, Stonehenge, a re-designed Megatron, an organization called the Trf, and Stanley Tucci as Merlin in a plot so ridiculously convoluted and complicated that makes it Game of Thrones seem as straightforward as a child’s bedtime story. Humans and Transformers are currently not on good terms as humans consider their once robotic allies dangerous, probably because they keep blowing up the planet. Transformers keep falling from the sky in droves and this makes humans wary of another attack. Optimus Prime, who was last seen floating off into space looking for the Creators at the end of Age of Extinction, returns home to Cybertron where he is seduced by Quintessa to help bring an end to the “human race.” There’s a MacGuffin (like there always is in a summer blockbuster) that both humans and robots want that leads to a third-act showdown. There was a lot of chatter the past couple of weeks about The Last Knight’s rumored runtime of 182 minutes long. While that is untrue (the real runtime is 149 minutes) the movie feels like it is well over three hours long. There’s too much going on, featuring too many characters, and too many subplots. I didn’t even mention Sir Anthony Hopkin’s storyline or the main female protagonist’s arc, mainly because it is too convoluted to matter and everything just ends up being blown up so why should anyone care?
This should come as no surprise to anyone who has seen his movies, but director Michael Bay wastes no screen time to develop his stories and even less to develop characters. Bay and his editors think that any shot that doesn’t involve a car transforming into a robot or some other shot with action will bore the audience, which shows their lack of faith in their story and characters. Bay is compelled to bombard the audience with kinetic shots because he knows if the movie stops long enough for people to think about it, it won’t make any sense. This makes for an exhausting experience that is equivalent to being repeatedly bludgeoned on the head with a boombox. It’s nonstop, loud, and makes for a miserable experience. Oh, and the aspect ratio adds to the misery. Someone should explain to Bay what an aspect ratio is.
It’s easy to put most of the blame on Bay, but some needs to get passed onto the film’s writers as well. There’s three credited screenwriters and you can tell that this is a story that was developed by a group rather than a single person. There’s a real difference between movies like this and something like, say, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. That movie was written (and directed) by James Gunn and his unique humor and style are all over that movie. There is no such sense of style or artisanship present anywhere in The Last Knight, which is fine, if it were just entertaining and not offensive. Bay has gotten in trouble in the past over racist and sometimes sexist humor in his movies, but he seemingly doesn’t care. There is literally a scene where a group of women, including her mother, beg Laura Haddock’s character to stop being so smart and just find a guy to date. They refer to her work as unimportant and the only value she will have in life will be determined by who she marries. It’s embarrassing that this movie will be shown on the same screens as Wonder Woman was a couple weeks ago. That movie featured powerful women who were independent and can serve as role models for young girls. In The Last Knight, Bay has a women telling a young woman that her only worth is in finding a man to marry and she should abandon her life’s work. Just imagine Diana Prince putting up with that.
Notice that throughout my bashing of this film, I have not come close to mentioning Mark Wahlberg’s portrayal of Cade Yeager. I am a moderate fan of Wahlberg and enjoy him in comedies like Ted or The Other Guys, but he was terribly miscast in Age of Extinction. He played a failed inventor on a farm, and while there is less farm time in The Last Knight, Wahlberg is just as awful here. It’s hard to blame him because the rest of the acting in the movie is similarly terrible. When Hopkins, who won an Oscar for less than 20 minutes of screen time in Silence of the Lambs, is yelling out profanities and looking at robots like a 12-year-old child, you know it is because of poor filmmaking. Bay has no idea how to convey this ridiculous story, humor, or possibly even worse, his action. The actors are just screaming over the film’s obnoxious volume and none of them ever present any real sense of danger. With all the ridiculousness going around the characters, you would think that Bay would like to add some suspense by putting someone in actual danger. Nope. Instead, we get sweeping shots of Autobots and Decepticons throwing bombs and ammunition at each other. There’s not much any actor can do with that.
It’s become easy to bash the Transformers series at this point, because Paramount could care less what kind of product the series produces. All they see is that Age of Extinction made over a billion dollars worldwide and the global audience wants more of the same. There is no need to invest in writers who develop an interesting story, editors who string together shots that make sense, actors who do more than scream, or more importantly, a director with a more interesting vision. The Last Knight is being confusingly marketed as the last chapter in the Transformers series, which we know is not true because studios love money. This is not only Bay’s last movie (supposedly), but Wahlberg also said he won’t be returning, which is probably the best decision of his career. In the end, Transformers: The Last Knight is the worst kind of summer blockbuster experience, and after Age of Extinction, I was looking for a reason to be back on board Team Bay, but I don’t see myself ever being a Bay fan again.

It’s been just over two weeks since fans of Netflix’s most odd, original and heartfelt TV show found out that the streaming giant would not be renewing “Sense8” for a third season. In those two weeks, many petitions have been sent and many protests raised, to the point where Netflix had to release a follow-up statement to fans explaining that it really did try to bring the show back, but “unfortunately we can’t.”
However, they should. They really, really should, at least in the form of a feature-length film, as we first saw suggested by redditor PrivateFrank, but echoing other shows that received a post-cancellation one-off conclusion following their release. Below are the reasons why it makes sense for Netflix to do it — for the fans, for the creators and for Netflix itself.
[Editor’s note: Mild spoilers for the second season of “Sense8” follow.]

Megan McGee started gaining weight when she got involved in an unhealthy relationship.
“I stopped doing all the things I used to do like seeing friends and going to the gym, so I became quite isolated,” the Middlesex, England-based nurse, 26, tells People. Then she decided to break free. “When I started reconnecting with my friends again, I realized that I’d become the ‘fat friend.’ I didn’t like going out because I hated the way I looked and shopping for clothes would always end in tears. I was a deeply unhappy person — I had no self-worth and no self-esteem.

No actor embodies the American everyman more than Tom Hanks, but that archetype has worn awfully thin. He was ideal as Cpt. Sully Sullenberger in Clint Eastwood’s “Sully,” a valiant working-class hero who always does the right thing — but at one of the most polarizing moments in this country’s history, roles like like start to seem less hand-in-glove and more like a rut. However, the actor’s earlier credits prove that a much broader range lurks beneath his kindly demeanor, and he’s overdue to unleash that potential once more.
In “The Circle,” which opens today, he plays a scheming tech mogul whose charm belies his nefarious vision. The problem is the material doesn’t give him enough substance. The movie finds one of the character’s young employees (Emma Watson) drawn into the company’s live-video platform even as it holds the potential for widespread invasion of...

We recently learned that Ang Lee was in talks to direct a sci-fi film project called Gemini Man that has been waiting to be developed since 1997. The technology it would take to bring this story to life has finally caught up and Skydance Media is ready to move forward with it.
THR is now reporting that Will Smith is in talks to star in the film. The story centers on "an aging assassin who tried to get out of the business but finds himself in the ultimate battle: fighting his own clone who is 25 years younger than him and at the peak of his abilities."
So it looks like we will get to see Smith battle a younger version of himself in the movie, which seems pretty cool. Just imagine the present day version of Smith fighting the younger Fresh Prince of Bel Air version. I'm sold! Who wouldn't pay to see that?...

If you've read either The Andy Cohen Diaries or its equally superb follow-up Superficial, then you know by now that Bravo impresario Andy Cohen fields text messages from the myriad women of the Real Housewives franchise on the regular. Whether they're blowing him up with questions about their future on the series, complaints the way they feel he treated them during a reunion or rants about their co-stars bad behavior, the point is they're always blowing him up. And that got us wondering: Does he ever group text with any of the women? Just imagine getting your hands on the transcript of a chat between AC and, say, the always on point ladies of Real Housewives of New York City. It'd be gold, right? When...

There are always rumors circulating about big companies acquiring other big companies. Last November, there was a rumor circulating that Disney was looking to buy the streaming service Netflix, but thus far, nothing seems to have come of that rumor. It’s with that in mind that we head into this rumor. A lot of this seems to be fueled by speculation and circumstance, but regardless, it's worth discussing.
According to speculative analysis from Rbc Capital Markets (via Variety), Apple has the potential to purchase Disney for over $200 billion, and if they were to do so, they’d create a company with a value of $1 trillion. This would create a ridiculously large company with “almost limitless opportunities in content and technology.”
Apparently, it’s an idea that sounds appealing to investors, and as such, “investors have increased their expectations that Apple could seriously consider acquiring Disney,” Rbc analysts Steven Cahall...

An elusive crime boss committed a gruesome crime, which put Five-0 on her tail on Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 Episode 21.
Not that this was Five-0 at its finest. They tracked Yakuza boss Shioma to her lair, then went in unprepared and undermanned, with just Jerry on comms for backup.
I understand that McGarrett wasn't sure who he could trust at Hpd where Shioma likely had a mole.
If that's the case, do what Jerry did: Go to Duke, and let him recruit officers he trusts. It wouldn't be that hard to put together a strike force.
But no. Instead let's ju, t drop off our heroes in the middle of a private island. Surely, the corpses hanging from the trees was an indication that this wasn't a well thought-out plan.
That's followed immediately by smoke bombs and Yakuza thugs with guns. If the plan was to be brought,...

When Al Gore lost the 2000 presidential election, he found a new platform for his message in storytelling. One reason “An Inconvenient Truth” became a huge success for the environmental movement was Gore’s dramatic comeback made him a natural fit for the movies. He was a tireless advocate whose globe-spanning quest to save the planet excited audiences while bringing them closer to his cause. Now, it’s Joe Biden’s turn.
Judging by the powerful stories he told in a speech at the 2017 SXSW conference about his efforts to fight cancer, Biden would make a killer documentary subject. His appearance, part of SXSW’s Connect to End Cancer series, targeted the tech-savvy audience to play up his efforts to empower digital tools as a means to combat the disease. If perception is reality, at what point will the synths be accepted as equals by the human race, now that more and more of the synths act just like us?
That's where the story is headed, and in Humans Season 2 Episode 3, all the human characters are grappling with just how to accept the inevitability of synths living side by side with them.
The Niska story is obviously the most thought provoking, but all the storylines deal with the sea change of synth self awareness in their own way.
Mia finally telling Ed about her self awareness was big enough, but to drop that she's warm for his form too must have been hard to take.
Just imagine yourself in that situation. What would you do? Ed is clearly lonely, so any port in a storm for him, right?
I like you more than anything I've ever seen, or heard, or touched.

A Dean Winchester who can’t remember who he is?
Sounds like a perfect setup for some great Supernatural comedy.
Supernatural Season 12 Episode 11 certainly took advantage of the scenario delivering multiple humorous scenes hinging on Dean's memory, and it even took a moment to look at the real darkside to forgetting everything.
From seeing his "first" dead guy to getting slapped by a girl he didn't recognize to calling a lamp a lightstick, the situation was a funny one.
But it was watching his progression get worse that reminded me of when he was afraid of everything on Supernatural Season 4 Episode 6. There was plenty of humor there as well.
Who doesn't remember him running from that cute Yorkie?
Additionally, Dean learning that the supernatural is real and that he hunts them or seeing the numerous notes to help Dean out, especially the reveal of the "Stay" note, were funny moments.

Given the popularity of Nascar and monster-truck shows, it was only a matter of time before the Fast and the Furious franchise spawned a live arena show. The movies themselves have grossed billions of dollars worldwide primarily for their amazing stunts involving cars, trucks, motorcycles, tanks, cargo planes and, coming down the pike with The Fate of the Furious, submarines. Just imagine seeing some of those action sequences live in person. Well, it's about to become a reality. According to Variety, Universal will launch a Fast and Furious arena tour in January 2018 with stunts from the eight movies re-created before your very eyes. There's no detail on which spectacles will be included, but we can bet there'll be lots of racing...

It sounds like the DC Extended Universe just got a Massive shot in the arm. Dwayne Johnson, also known around Hollywood as franchise viagra (and for good reason), has received his own film. The studio’s made the smart decision to have him headline an upcoming feature as Black Adam rather than just have him appear as the character in Shazam, which was the original plan. Word on the street is that they intend to get things into motion pretty quickly and now, we may know why.
Initial reports pointed to Johnson making a cameo in an upcoming DC movie to introduce him to audiences before he gets his own solo outing. While there’s no confirmation just yet from Warner Bros. on where he’ll show up, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit thinks it might be in James Wan’s Aquaman, which will swim into theaters on October 5th,...

The IndieWire TV team has already narrowed down their favorite episodes of 2016, but now they’re sharing their favorite TV quotes of the year. Using the hashtag #BestTVLines2016, television critics like New York Times’ James Poniewozick, Variety’s Maureen Ryan and Uproxx’s Alan Sepinwall, among others, tweeted their favorite phrases from some of the best series out there. It’s an annual tradition started by Ryan and Co., but the entire Twitter community is encouraged to participate and share, creating a joyous celebration of the best small moments from the year of television.
Some of the notable shows that they chose bites from include “Billions,” “Veep,” “The Americans,” “BoJack Horseman,” and more. Among our favorites is IndieWire’s Michael Schneider’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” quote (we’re not biased, we promise): “F*ck you, 2016. F*ck. You,” which pretty much sums up the year.

In the pre-Instagram age, it was a lot harder to pick apart the private lives of celebrities. In fact, even in the post-Instagram, pre-Snapchat age, it was difficult. Without a peek into their daily lives, fans were left to languish in a world of mystery and conjecture. Especially Taylor Swift, whose life is so endlessly fascinating. Back in the olden days that we speak of, the most curious aspect was her relationship status. The world was constantly dying to know who she was dating and exactly what was going on behind-the-scenes. Just imagine the expository lyrics we know and love today, but without the benefit of a constant flow of information on social media. And thus, the Taylor Swift Relationship Clue...

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to see the theater experience to crumble before our very eyes. The digital revolution has already revolutionized the way we consume our media. Physical media has almost become a thing of a past (with Blu-ray largely turning into a product for super-geeks to get their special feature or hi-res fix), and fairly soon, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were witnessing the beginning of the end of theater chains.
In the past, we’ve reported on the service Screening Room, which would allow consumers to rent films currently playing in theaters for an inflated price point — with some of the money going to the theater chains. We’ve also reported on certain studios approaching said chains and trying to shorten the window between theatrical and home release. Now, it sounds like Apple is trying to split the difference between the two.

Cristi Puiu. Photo by Alexi Pelekanos, courtesy of the ViennaleSieranevada, Cristi Puiu's latest fictional feature film is not only a fictional film, it is a film about fiction. It is about the fictions and lies we escape to in order to live on. Moreover, it is about the impotence when realizing that we are living in this net of fictions and lies. When asked about his viewing habits the Romanian director loves to stress that he prefers documentary to fictional cinema. Many of those who have written about Puiu focus on the so-called documentary qualities of his cinema, meaning his kind of realism, the way his camera and editing does not interfere too much with the action. Such observations are arguable to say the least because for Puiu, who has made some documentaries inspired by Raymond Depardon like 25.12.1995, București, Gara de Nord (1996) or 13 - 19 iulie 1998, Craiova, Azilul de batrani...
