Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her mother, Margarita Vergara Dávila de Vergara, is a housewife. Her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, provides cattle to the meat industry. She has five siblings. She was educated at a private bilingual Spanish/English school. She then went on to study pre-dentistry. However, Sofía was discovered by a photographer, whilst at the beach, and this led to various jobs in modeling and television. Aurora worked with award-winning Italian directors nominated several time to "Davide di Donatello awards" such as Pupi Avati, Paolo Genovese, Carlo Vanzina, etc.

Her breakout role was playing the lead Almadedios in the film 'Faccio un salto all'Avana,' the story of a Cuban con-artist scamming tourist to save her family. Aurora as well played a Spanish tourist in the box-office record-breaking italian comedy film 'Immaturi il viaggio".

After eleven years of success in Italy, she joined the regular cast of 'La Selecciòn' in its second season as "Viviana" Valenciano's lover, the famous real-life story of a pro-soccer player. Filmed in Colombia, the TV series can now be seen on Netflix Latinoamerica. Aurora currently resides in Santa Monica, CA. USA. Yet often travels between Italy & Colombia where she has recently filmed successful series such as "La Reina del Sur" second season (Emmy International award winner series in 2020) and "Verdad Oculta" with the famous Colombian Director Jorge Ali Triana.

She portrayed Stg Melissa Downs in the film "The Ritual Killer" starring Morgan Freeman and Cole Hauser, came out in Theaters on March 10th, 2023.

Her most recent project is the Netflix Limited Series named "Griselda" starring Sofia Vergara and directed by Andres Baiz, the same director of all Narcos successful Netflix series. She played the role of Estella, a Guest Recurring Role .The show Is currently in 2024 the number #1 worldwide in Netflix.
