The literary model is really wonderful and radiates a lot of Christmas magic. The ideal material to read aloud to the little ones (and grown-ups too) at this time of year. The cinematic realisation can only begin to reproduce the feeling and doesn't even seem to want to do so faithfully. For example, I would have imagined the whole Christmas market scene in a completely different and more detailed way. Instead, the mayor makes a very cringeworthy appearance. All in all, not recommended. If you're looking for the original Christmas magic or the feeling of this time of year in general, you've come to the wrong place.
