Padmarajan at his best
7 February 2012
This movie my Padmarajan really made me cry..............One of the best Malayalam movies I have ever seen. This guy is really one of the gods our God's own country has given birth to. I could not find a single fault with the film. The acting, screenplay and direction compete to excel each other.

The movie portrays the events that happen in a family in the 1980s in the backdrop of division of the family. Kaviyoor Ponnamma has given her best performance ever as the loving matriarch of the family. Mammootty and Karamana as her sons, Sreevidya and Unnimary as the daughter-in-laws complete the core cast. Good supporting performances from Ashokan and Kukku Parameshwaran as well.

The film concentrates on a particular feature of the modern day families, the modern ritual of sending elderly people to old age homes. The movie explores the rights and wrongs of this practice. The internal disturbances happening in the family are detailed in the film with much accuracy. The main focus of Padmarajan is on individual emotions. The characters stand out separately. We can identify with each of them. They are all characters we will find in our own neighbourhood.

Another important aspect is the role nature plays in the movie. Nature is a main supporting actor in every single one of this genius' movie. This too is not an exception. It is amazing how he makes us love our own home, our own courtyards and our own gardens. He is truly a director of NATURE
