Holland is back as Peter Parker for his fourth feature film, following Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). That doesn't count all of the times his version of Spidey appeared with the other Avengers in various MCU productions. The new Spider-Man begins filming later this year.

Over its first five days, the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again racked up 7.5 million views worldwide. That makes it the most watched premiere on Disney+ this year so far. The superhero series, starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, originally ran for three seasons on Netflix, concluding in 2018. It's the 13th TV series in the canonical Marvel Cinematic Universe. After releasing the first half of Gremlins: The Wild Batch back in October 2024, Max is slated to drop the last batch of episodes of the season this April.

Indie movies are getting the spotlight at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards and we’re recapping all of the celebs who showed up on the red carpet!

The afternoon awards show is being held on Saturday (February 22) at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles.

Disney's latest animated series might have drawn some controversy recently, but that didn’t stop Win or Lose from debuting on Rotten Tomatoes with a score that clearly shows it's a home run. Premiering yesterday, Feb. 19, on Disney+, the Pixar series' Rotten Tomatoes score sits far from the bleachers at 89%, and with six episodes still left to go in the first season, that number could go even higher.

"Win or Lose greatly benefits from its diverse tapestry and stories. It feels real and genuine in its attempts to illustrate a close-knit community," said Ferdosa Abdi from Screen Rant. Alex Maidy from JoBlo's Movie Network had much the same to say in his review, adding:

With just one week before the first two episodes of Pixar Animation Studios’ Win or Lose series launch on Disney+, two new clips and key art are now available.

Pixar’s first-ever original series features the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game—the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, and even a lovesick umpire.

The clips highlight characters from two upcoming episodes:

“Meet Sweaty” – The first episode introduces Laurie (voice of Rosie Foss), a 12-year-old softball player whose insecurity manifests into an ever-growing anxiety blob called Sweaty (voice of Jo Firestone) that only she can see.

“Cheating” – Episode four stars bubbly mom Vanessa (voice of Rosa Salazar), whose daughter Rochelle (voice of Milan Elizabeth Ray)—a talented player on the team—is accused of cheating on a test at school. Vanessa insists it didn’t happen—or did it?

The Win or Lose...

The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards took place on Friday, February 7, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Three films—Wicked, Emilia Pérez, and The Substance—each won three awards. However, none of them claimed the top honor of Best Picture, which went to Anora. Interestingly, Anora didn’t win in any other category that night.

Jon M. Chu, director of Wicked, won Best Director, making him only the third filmmaker to win the award for a musical. The others were Baz Luhrmann for Moulin Rouge! and Damien Chazelle for La La Land. Chazelle later won an Oscar for directing La La Land, but Luhrmann and Chu didn’t even receive Oscar nominations for their films. Wicked also took home awards for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

Emilia Pérez won Best Foreign Language Film, Best Original Song for “El Mal”, and Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña.

Wicked and Conclave went into the 2025 Critics Choice Awards with the most nominations, but voters (myself included) spread the wealth around, showering Wicked, Conclave, The Brutalist, Anora, The Substance (congrats Demi Moore!), and Emilia Perez with film awards. On the TV drama side, Shogun earned Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress awards. Hacks cleaned up in the TV comedy categories, scoring Best Comedy, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress.

The Critics Choice Awards were held on February 7, 2025 with Chelsea Handler returning as host for the third time. Handler spent time during the opening of her monologue to thank first responders for their incredible work during the Los Angeles wildfires. She also thanked Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni for providing a distraction from waking up every day not knowing what news will disappoint or horrify us.

Critics Choice Awards 2025: The award season continues with another much-coveted award night. It is the 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards, where both films and television artists are awarded. After two separate delays due to the Los Angeles wildfires, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards have all finally been handed out. The winners list provides another indicator of the strength of several films leading into the Academy Awards March 2, though TV plays a big role in the Critics Choice Awards as well — even if many of the top contenders on that side of the event, such as “Shogun,” which led the TV awards with four wins, are not eligible for this September’s Emmys having already stormed last year’s Emmys.

“Anora” won Best Picture out of a field of 10 nominees. It was the only Critics Choice Award the Sean Baker film starring Mikey Madison won full stop. The most film wins went to “Wicked,” “Emilia Pérez,” and “The Substance” with three each.

“Wicked,” “Emilia Pérez,” and “The Substance” each triumphed with three wins at the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards on Friday night. However, it was “Anora” that claimed the best picture prize at this year’s ceremony.

The Neon release entered the race with seven nominations, including best actress for Mikey Madison and best director and original screenplay for Sean Baker. But ultimately, “Anora” walked away with the coveted best picture award, and nothing more.

Meanwhile, “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu, who wasn’t nominated in the Academy Awards’ best director category, beat out several Oscar nominees to win the best director honor at the Critics Choice Awards. “I’m going to win that Oscar!” Chu said jokingly on stage.

The trailer for Pixar Animation Studios’ first-ever original series, “Win or Lose,” has been released, with the full series streaming on Disney+ on February 19. The animated show features the intertwined stories of eight characters as they prepare for their big championship softball game. Those characters have undergone at least some adjustments at the behest of Disney, which requested the removal of a storyline about a trans character and adjusted lines of dialogue to remove any mention of gender identity.

“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline,” a spokesperson said in a statement to IndieWire at the time.

Pixar's Win or Lose has faced some choppy waters before finally pulling into shore on Disney+. After some creative disputes and gender-representational conflict, fans will finally be able to watch the new series this February.

What began life as a coming-of-age story with a softball team became a creative way to illustrate internal monologues certainly bears a lot of promise for Pixar, especially if the trailer below is to be believed.

‘Win or Lose’ is an upcoming animated series by Pixar, set to premiere on Disney+ on February 19, 2025. It follows a middle school softball team, the Pickles, in the week before their championship game, showing each player’s perspective with unique animation styles.

Created by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, the series explores themes of love, rivalry, and life challenges through an eight-episode run. The series features a cast that includes Will Forte, Ian Chen, Izaac Wang, Jo Firestone, Milan Ray, Josh Thomson, Erin Keif, and Rosie Foss.

The story was supposed to feature a transgender-themed story arc in the latter episodes, but according to THR, it was removed ahead of release.

A Disney spokesperson confirmed the story arc was removed and shared a statement:

When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.

The Unforgettable Gala, an end-of-year award celebration that honors the Api community’s brightest talents in entertainment, arts and culture, held its 2024 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton over the weekend.

Co-hosted by Stephanie Hsu, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Jr De Guzman, the awards ceremony’s 2024 theme was “unforgettable together” and featured one-of-a-kind segments and performances. The event was produced by GoldenTV and Character Media.

Shogun star Hiroyuki Sanada was honored with the global icon award, while his co-star Anna Sawai was presented with the actor in TV honor. Sawai was unable to attend in person, but the Emmy-winning actress sent in a video thanking the crowd for the honor. Unforgettable also honored the cast of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender with the vanguard award, with much of the young cast in attendance.

Win or Lose, a new original animated series from Pixar, is heading to Disney+ in 2025. Ahead of the show's arrival, it's been confirmed that a transgender storyline was scrapped.

The animated series focuses on a middle school softball team and its associated coach, players, parents, and others. Per The Hollywood Reporter, a Disney spokesperson has confirmed that a transgender story arc was removed from the final cut of Win or Lose. Reportedly, the decision was made several months ago. While not named, the transgender character is still said to be a part of the series, but all lines of dialogue that referenced gender identity have been removed. The official reason given for scrapping the storyline was due to parental concerns.

Wicked and Conclave lead the list of the 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards, earning 11 nominations each, followed by Dune: Part Two and Emilia Pérez with 10. The top four nominated films will go head-to-head in the Best Picture and Best Director categories.

The Brutalist picked up nine nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Adrien Brody), and Best Supporting Actor (Guy Pearce). Anora and The Substance received seven nominations, with Sing Sing and Nickel Boys scoring five nominations. Nosferatu, Challengers, and Gladiator II earned four nominations, and A Complete Unknown and A Real Pain collected three nominations each.

It’s popes vs. witches. “Conclave” and “Wicked” both received 11 nominations for the the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards, which were announced Thursday morning. That put the two very different films in first place among nominees, followed by “Dune: Part II” and “Emilia Pérez” with 10 nominations each.

All four of the top nominees earned Best Picture nods, as did “A Complete Unknown, “Anora,” “The Brutalist,” “Nickel Boys,” “Sing Sing” and “The Substance.” Directors of the top four were also recognized: Edward Berger, Jon M. Chu, Denis Villeneuve and Jacques Audiard.

“The Brutalist” and “Anora” also scored multiple nominations, with nine and seven, respectively.

The Critics Choice Association last week announced nominations in its TV categories, with Shogun scoring a leading six nods.

The winners across film and TV categories will be revealed during the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler, which is set to take place on Jan. 12 at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar and will air live on E! from 7-10 p.m. Et/Pt, with the show moving to the NBCUniversal cable network from its previous home of The CW.

“Conclave” and “Wicked” lead the tally for all movies for this year’s Critics Choice Awards nominations with 11 nods each.

The Cca, celebrating its 30th year, announced three of the top categories live on NBC’s “Today” which included the 10 movies in the running for best picture: “A Complete Unknown,” “Anora,” “The Brutalist,” “Conclave,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Emilia Pérez,” “Nickel Boys,” “Sing Sing,” “The Substance” and “Wicked.”

Among Hollywood’s biggest stars recognized for acting are Timothée Chalamet in best actor for his transformational turn as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic “A Complete Unknown” and Mikey Madison’s breakout performance as a stripper who gets mixed with a Russian oligarch’s son in Sean Baker’s poignant dramedy “Anora.” The supporting actor and actress categories include Kieran Culkin from the heartwarming “A Real Pain” and Zoe Saldaña from the Spanish-language musical “Emilia Pérez.”

The San Diego Film Critics Society selected Sing Sing as Best Picture of 2024, with the film also receiving Best Actor (Colman Domingo) and Best Adapted Screenplay awards. Wicked tied as the most-awarded film, earning Best Supporting Actress, Best Production Design, and Best Costume awards.

Dune: Part Two led the list of San Diego Film Critics Society nominees with 12 nominations and won two: Best Director and Best Sound Design. Anora and September 5 also took home two awards from the Southern California-based critics.

The San Diego Film Critics Society is known for marching to the beat of its own drum. Last year, the So. California group named Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret the Best Picture of 2024. And this year’s nominees break from other critics groups, with Dune: Part Two leading with 12 nominations. Conclave followed with nine, and Sing Sing and Wicked each earned eight.
