It's officially 2025, and we can’t wait to welcome back all of our favorite shows! One show we're especially excited to see return with a brand new season is the supernatural mystery drama School Spirits. The long-awaited second season is set to be released on Paramount+ sometime early this year.

After the shocking reveal of Maddie's fate at the end of the first season, we're really looking forward to diving back into the story in School Spirits season 2. Season 1 follows Maddie Nears, a teen girl who ends up trapped in the afterlife after mysteriously dying at her high school. Throughout the first season, we watch as Maddie tries to uncover the truth behind her death with the help of other spirits trapped at the school.

In season 2, the story picks up right where the first season left off. Maddie is still stuck in the afterlife, but now she knows what really happened to her.

In the last thirteen months, we’ve seen two different time travel slashers, Totally Killer and Time Cut, get streaming service releases. Now, Deadline reports that Alliance Media Partners is representing the world sales rights for a time travel supernatural thriller called You Don’t Belong Here at the American Film Market, which is currently going on in Las Vegas. Totally Killer starred Kiernan Shipka from the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Time Cut starred Madison Bailey from the Netflix series Outer Banks and Antonia Gentry from the Netflix series Ginny & Georgia, so it seems fitting that the lead role in You Don’t Belong Here went to another Netflix star – Nikki Roumel, who co-stars with Gentry on Ginny & Georgia.

Peacock's One of Us is Lying is a riveting teen mystery based on Karen M. McManus' 2017 novel of the same name. This now-canceled series joins a list of teen shows with edgy premises but is sadly marked by a season 2 cliffhanger that will likely never be resolved. Peacock is reworking its slate, and it's bad news for fans of YA dramas Vampire Academy and One of Us Is Lying.

Deadline reported Friday night that both series had been canceled after their most recent runs on the streaming service.

Vampire Academy came from Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and was expected to be a big hit for the service, but Deadline notes that the numbers didn't justify a second season.

"St. Vladmir's Academy isn't just any boarding school — it's a hidden place where vampire royals are educated and half-human teens train to protect them from the savage 'Strigoi' vampires who would like to see them destroyed," reads the logline for the series.

Vampire Academy stars Daniela Nieves (Snowfall) as Royal Moroi vampire Lissa Dragomir, Sisi Stringer (Mortal Kombat) as Rose's Dhampir Guardian Rose Hathaway, and Kieron Moore (Sex Education) Dhampir Guardian Dimitri Belikov.

Say goodbye to “One of Us Is Lying” and “Vampire Academy.” On Friday, Peacock canceled both shows, the latest in a wave of cancelations as studios, streamers and networks cut costs heading into 2023.

“One of Us Is Lying,” the very first pilot Peacock ordered to series, debuted in 2021 and was renewed for a second season, which premiered last fall. “Vampire Academy” has been staked through the heart after just one season.

The NBCU streamer has cancelled One Of Us Is Lying and Vampire Academy.

One Of Us Is Lying ran for two seasons, while Vampire Academy, which comes from Julie Plec, has ended after one.

Deadline understands that execs at Peacock were happy with both shows creatively but they just didn’t find the requisite audience to justify further seasons.

One Of Us Is Lying, which is based on Karen M. McManus’ novel, launched in October 2021 and was the first Peacock pilot to go to series. It was renewed for a second season earlier this year that aired in October 2022.

Vampire Academy was handed a straight-to-series order in May 2021 and premiered in September 2022.

Both shows come from Universal Studio Group.

Telling another mystery after the original is dead and buried is tough.

Many mystery series struggle to follow up that first big hook, but One of Us Is Lying Season 2 manages to elevate the mystery and the stakes to leave viewers with a sense of dread.

TV Fanatic got the chance to screen the entire season ahead of launch, and you'll be glad to know that the series takes things in a drastically different direction.

That's not to say there were any significant flaws with the first season. It's just that taking things in a different direction as opposed to reinventing what made the first season successful is a sign that the creatives are confident in their storytelling.

We pick back up with Addy (Annalisa Cochrane), Cooper (Chibuikem Uche), Bronwyn (Marianly Tejada), Nate (Cooper van Grootel), and Janae (Jessica McLeod) in the immediate aftermath of that text.

The identity of snarky gossiper Simon Kelleher’s killer in season one was identified at the conclusion of Peacock’s One of Us is Lying season one. And, mini-spoiler alert, the gang took care of that problem (Rip Jake) but wound up creating a new one. Which, of course, leads us to season two.

The two-minute season two trailer reveals the Murder Club members will be tormented by “Simon Says” and forced into doing his/her bidding or else their involvement in Jake’s “disappearance” will be exposed. Hiding the truth is a recipe for disaster.

Peacock unveiled the official trailer for One of Us Is Lying Season 2 on Tuesday, and it looks like the net is closing in on the Bayview four.

The trailer dials up the intrigue as we pick up following that huge death at the end of the freshman season.

Peacock warns that the second season, premiering October 20, will find the teenagers going to great lengths to protect "their secret, themselves, and each other."

The season 2 cast includes Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Cooper van Grootel (Nate), Jess McLeod (Janae), Melissa Collazo (Maeve), Sara Thompson (Vanessa), and Alimi Ballard (Kevin).

TV Fanatic got the chance to chat with Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Cooper van Grootel (Nate), and Barrett Carnahan (Jake).

Elite-turned-One of Us Is Lying showrunner Darío Madrona knows a thing or two about fictional teens and murder mysteries. But don’t mistake the high schoolers in the new Peacock drama (now streaming its first three episodes) for the glam partiers in the Netflix soap.

In fact, if the kids of Elite could give the One of Us Is Lying characters some advice, “they would probably tell them to enjoy themselves more and get out a little bit, maybe do some drugs and hook up with each other,” Madrona jokes with a laugh.

AMC’s “The Walking Dead” Universe and ABC’s “The Wonder Years” are among the series the Paley Center for Media announced as a part of its special 15th annual PaleyFest Fall TV Preview lineup.

Other series making the cut this year are Showtime’s “American Rust,” Fox’s “The Big Leap” and “Our Kind of People,” CBS’ “CSI: Vegas” and “Ghosts,” Peacock’s “Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol,” Disney Plus’ “Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.,” Paramount Plus’ “The Harper House,” HBO Max’s “Love Life,” Peacock’s “One of Us Is Lying,” NBC’s “Ordinary Joe,” ABC’s “Queens,” TNT’s “Rhodes to the Top” and TruTV’s “Tacoma Fd.”

Once again, PaleyFest is going virtual amid the Covid-19 pandemic, with panel available to Citi cardmembers and Paley Center Members on Sept. 14, and then to the general public on Sept. 20. Citi once again returns to sponsor of the event.

One of Us Is Lying finally has a premiere date. 

The highly-anticipated teen drama launches Thursday, October 7, on Peacock.

The 8-episode season will roll out over the course of three weeks, with new episodes dropping in batches on Thursdays.

As a result, the rollout plan is as follows:

Episodes 1-3 will drop Thursday, October 7

Episodes 4-6 on Thursday, October 14

Episodes 7-8 on Thursday, October 21

The streamer released the official trailer for the series Monday, which is based on Karen M. McManus’ bestselling book of the same name, as well as an Oct. 7 premiere date. The eight-episode season will span out over three weeks, with new episodes dropping on Thursdays.

Peacock has ordered an eight-episode adaptation of “One of Us is Lying,” the streamer announced Wednesday.

The new series, which is based on the best-selling young adult novel of the same name by Karen M. McManus, will be run by “Elite” co-creator Darío Madrona and star Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, Chibuikem Uche, Barrett Carnahan, Jessica McLeod and Melissa Collazo.

The story centers on a mystery of what happened when five high school students to walk into detention together but only four make it out alive. Everyone becomes a suspect, and of course everyone has secrets they are hiding.

Peacock has handed a series order to young-adult mystery drama One of Us is Lying and has tapped Darío Madrona, co-creator of Netflix’s Elite, as showrunner.

The streamer has given the adaptation of Karen M. McManus’ novel an eight-episode order after ordering a pilot last year.

It marks the first of Peacock’s pilot orders to have been picked up to series and comes after straight-to-series orders for Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s Girls5eva, starring Sara Bareilles and written by Meredith Scardino, and MacGruber, starring, co-written and executive produced by Will Forte.

Peacock has ordered the adaptation of Ya novel “One of Us is Lying” to series.

The series is based on Karen M. MaManus’ novel of the same name. “One of Us is Lying” is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive.

The series had been in development first at E!, before moving over to Peacock last year. It has been ordered for eight episodes.

Dario Madrona, who co-created the Spanish-language Netflix series “Elite,” will serve as showrunner. Jennifer Morrison directed and produced the pilot, which was written by Erica Saleh. The series is also executive produced by John Sacchi and Matt Groesch of 5 More Minutes Productions. The series will be produced by Ucp, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Chris Pratt stars in the live-action feature, which follows a husband and father who is drafted to fight a future war in which the fate of humanity may rely on his ability to correct issues of the past.
