(Toronto, On – October 12, 2023) Today, Nigerian born, Los Angeles-based artist TOBi delivers his bold new album Panic via RCA Records. Out now, the soulful, funkafied 12-track project further cements TOBi as a chilling storyteller with cleverly-written and tightly-woven bars as he continues to take us through pivotal moments in his life’s journey, but where TOBi becomes taciturn on certain tracks, the fullness of the production, instruments and layered harmonies, convey what’s left unspoken.

With Brockhampton done, Kevin Abstract is ready for a new era. On Wednesday, the musician released the single “Blanket,” a rocky, ominous track that features just a few lyrics with repeating yelps backed by a rocky guitar and drums.
Clocking in at less than 2 minutes long, “Blanket” seems to be the first taste of the new music from a rock album on the way. Abstract recently performed solo shows at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Masonic Lodge and at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right, where he debuted the tracks on the upcoming record.

Philly rapper Armani White has teamed up with A$AP Ferg for “Silver Tooth,” the latest preview from his upcoming debut EP, Road to Casablanco. Stream it below.
Produced by White’s frequent collaborator July Da Producer, the track samples Bow Wow’s early 2000s hit “Take Ya Home.” It marks White’s second song to flip a single produced by the Neptunes after his breakout hit “Billie Eilish” was built around N.O.R.E.’s “Nothin’.”

When Arlo Parks set out to make her second album, she wanted to make sure everyone knew that she was singing about her lived experiences, and no one else’s.

Gru and the minions are back in an all new blast from the past adventure. “Minions: The Rise of Gru” takes viewers back to Gru’s childhood where, on the brink of adolescence, Gru wants nothing more than to join The Sinister Six, a group of villains notorious for their collaboration in crime.
The adventures of all these characters as well as the minions are backed by a reimagined soundtrack full of ’70s hits.
Produced by Jack Antonoff, the soundtrack includes St. Vincent’s rendition of Lipps Inc’s 1979 hit “Funkytown,” H.E.R.’s version of “Dance to the Music” from Sly and the Family Stone in 1967, Bleachers’ rendition of John Lennon’s 1970 song “Instant Karma” and Phoebe Bridgers’ version of The Carpenters’ 1972 ballad “Goodbye to Love.” Even the Minions get a few spotlight moments like when they sing Paul Simon’s “Cecelia.”

Shia Labeouf, who got to the quarterfinals of the Page International Screenwriting Awards for up-and-coming screenwriters two years ago for his script for last year’s “Honey Boy,” has now entered a second contest for aspiring scribes. And won.
Earlier this month, the Sun Valley Film Festival declared Labeouf’s “Minor Modifications” the winner of its High Scribe award — which offers him “one-on-one meetings with some of the industry’s finest to discuss their work” as well as “mentoring from an experienced professional.”
The victory by Labeouf — who has starred in dozens of films, including last year’s “Honey Boy” — has led to frustration and confusion from other emerging screenwriters, questioning both how a festival focused on helping undiscovered talent could award a star like Labeouf, and why someone with the actor’s name recognition would even enter such a program in the first place.

Usher has been mostly quiet for the better part of four years. He has released a dud here, a solid single there. But since R&b is less interested in the vocal acrobatics, washboard abs, and lithe dance moves that are this star’s stock and trade, he appears content to sit back, enjoy the hundreds of millions of streams he amasses annually on his hit-filled back catalog, and wordlessly make fun of Jacquees.

I'm fully convinced Brockhampton remixed their song "Sugar" with Dua Lipa for me. Like, specifically me. What other explanation is there for two of my most played artists to suddenly collaborate? I've been secretly hoping Bh would do an unexpected mashup, and here we are now, jamming to the surprise altered R&b tune from their 2019 album, Ginger.
The track, which dropped on March 6, also features singers Jon B and Ryan Beatty, who was on the original version. After Ciarán "Bearface" McDonald opens with a nod to Usher's 1997 hit "Nice & Slow," Dua Lipa croons a verse, saying, "I move mountains on my own / Don't need nobody's help / I've been looking after me like only I can watch my back." And, yes, Joba even gets an added verse at the end (Where my Joba stans at?!). Ginger is a brisk, restrained listen. At 12 songs and 44 minutes, Brockhampton‘s fifth album operates like a tightrope act between the group’s propensity for overwhelming earnestness and the chaos of their kinetic cyphers. That’s what makes the album’s second track, “Sugar,” feel like a bold swing after the darkness of the preceding intro track, “No Halo.”
Wistful and sweet, “Sugar” is centered by a mesmerizing hook from Ryan Beatty. “Spendin’ all my nights alone, waiting for you to call me,” Beatty’s layered vocals sing on top of a sparse,...

From the beginning, Brockhampton had an ending in mind. It’s unconventional — and slightly macabre — for a boy band to have their breakup planned out in advance, but knowing when to bow out always seemed smarter than imploding.
“We’ve talked about it since before we even put out Saturation 1,” Kevin Abstract, the group’s leader, says. “We’ve always known we didn’t want to do this forever as a group. So it’s like, let’s make the best of this opportunity and this moment. See how much...

Brockhampton have dropped one final music video before the release of the band’s new album, Ginger. “No Halo,” a track from the album, gets a low-key visual accompaniment directed by Spencer Ford, who has helmed several other recent videos for Brockhampton.
In the clip, which features the silver jumpsuits that appear in the band’s other videos, the musicians are joined by singer Deb Never, who guests on the track. There’s no real storyline to the video, which sees the band members roaming the streets, sitting in a...

Brockhampton bring a small marching band and people coated in blue paint to a sprawling field in the video for their new song, “If You Pray Right.” The track is set to appear on the group’s forthcoming album, Ginger, out later this month.
“If You Pray Right” is centered around a skittish drum groove, a queasy synth and a delightfully boozy trombone riff that’s as good as an excuse as any to get a small marching band to follow Dom McLennon as he spits the song’s opening verse in the video.

Director John Singleton’s film Baby Boy is a classic of early-2000s black cinema. Tyrese Gibson stars as Jody, a guy with a serious Oedipus complex living in South Central Los Angeles. Throughout the movie, Jody deals with the ramifications of being an absent father, a nigh-worthless son and a bad fighter. If you haven’t seen Baby Boy, turn on Bet or VH1 right now; there’s a 75 percent chance it’s currently airing.
This brings us to Brockhampton frontman Kevin Abstract‘s new solo song, “Baby Boy.

The following post contains spoilers for the emotional season nine finale of Shameless.
When entering the Gallagher household during the season nine finale of Shameless, it's only appropriate that Lil Wayne's "Mess" plays in the background. As the lyrics go, "My days is a mess, my nights is a mess, my life is a mess," Fiona walks through the longtime family home to see what's left for her on the South Side of Chicago: Frank's very smelly bedpan and an expected six-month recovery from his leg injury, Debbie and Carl sticking together to face their own problems, Liam wanting nothing to do with the family, and her empty suitcase ready to be packed up.
While fans feared the worst for Fiona and her impending departure from the show, after 111 episodes and nine seasons, Emmy Rossum's character exited gracefully. For a character who has found herself in some very low places,...

Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and the 1975 were big winners at Wednesday night’s Brit Awards, taking home the Best British Single (for Harris and Lipa’s “One Kiss”), Album of the Year (for The 1975’s “Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships”) as well as Best British Group (the 1975).
While the show, livestreamed from London’s O2 Arena, features plenty of non-English talent, the Brits are basically the U.K.’s version of the Grammys, where Little Mix, the 1975, George Ezra and Tom Walker are superstars and Jay and Beyonce and Drake and Ariana are relegated to the “international” categories. The evening featured eye-popping performances from Little Mix, Harris — who was joined by both Sam Smith and Lipa — and not least Hugh Jackman, who opened the show with a “Greatest Showman” bit. There were also comparatively low-key performances from sultry R&B singer Jorja Smith and a duet between Jess Glynne and...

Last August, a business-school-101 discount technique sparked a fight between rap royalty. With help from a generous assortment of album-merchandise bundles — sell a fan a T-shirt, hat or hoodie, throw in an album download — Travis Scott’s Astroworld beat Nicki Minaj’s Queen to Number One. Minaj wasted little time in condemning the gimmick, even though she used it too: “What we’re not gonna do is have this fucking Auto-Tune man [Scott] come up in here selling fucking sweaters and telling y’all he sold half a million fucking albums,...

Brockhampton performed a visceral, dizzying version of “District” on Tuesday’s Tonight Show. The alternative hip-hop collective, who recruited a live string quartet and crew of backing vocalists, alternated between punk screams and soothing auto-tuned crooning.
