1989 joined the CDJ (Christian Democratic Youth), 1993 to 2002 member of the state board of the Young Union of Saxony and Lower Silesia, 1995 to 2001 state treasurer, 1994 to 2000 deputy CDU district chairman in Görlitz, since April 2005 secretary general of the CDU Saxony. 1994 to 1999 City Councilor in Görlitz.
