Dexter: Original Sin has become a new favorite among Dexter fans. The prequel explores the origin story of ‘America’s favorite serial killer,’ following a young Dexter as he embraces his Dark Passenger under the guidance of his adoptive father, Harry Morgan.

Exploring the early years of Dexter’s life, the prequel also reintroduces several familiar faces, including Brian Moser, Dex’s older brother. However, Brian’s presence posed a significant challenge for showrunner Clyde Phillips. While reflecting on the character’s appearance, Phillips revealed that one particular scene had the potential to completely derail the continuity of the original series.

Finally, the season finale of Dexter: Original Sin is here, and it does not disappoint. Riddled with tension and blood spatter, episode 10 gives us an in-depth look at Brian’s (Xander Mateo/Roby Attal) life post-Dexter (Patrick Gibson), intense showdowns between Harry (Christian Slater) and Brian as well as Dexter (Patrick Gibson) and Captain Spencer (Patrick Dempsey), and a little resolution that sets us up nicely to glide right on into the events of the original series. Let’s break down the season finale in this week’s recap!
Brian’s life post-Dexter
Episode 10 opens with Brian recounting to his psychiatrist, Dr. Paul Petrie, all the times in his life that Dexter has been taken from him. The first was when Harry took Dexter from Brian’s arms in the shipping container, and we really see how much this impacted Brian, who’d bravely comforted his little brother with...

Dexter: Original Sin totally understood its assignment. Fans wanted to see the backstory of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) from Dexter play out versus only in flashbacks. Score one for Patrick Gibson as a younger Dexter. They also wanted to dive deeper into the character of Harry, played by James Remar in flashbacks in the original and Christian Slater in this show. Score two.
There was even icing on top, including a new cast playing beloved characters from the original and greater context relating to characters like Brian Moser (Christian Camargo/Roby Attal), Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter/Molly Brown), and especially Harry. Score bonus points. Overall, the show is fantastic, but the ending left a lot to be desired. This is...

It finally happened, a face-to-face in Dexter: Original Sin that fans hadn’t even considered could or would occur after watching the original series Dexter. But the second a young adult version of Brian Moser (Roby Attal) appeared in Dexter: Original Sin, fans knew there would be more to his story. The older brother of Dexter Morgan seemingly had a Dark Passenger long before the shipping yard container incident. That trauma drew out the worst in him, however. Unlike Dexter, who appeared to have become broken only after the tragic event (despite having repressed the memory), Brian was already showing signs of psychopathy as a young child. And Harry (Christian Slater) knew it.

With the season finale of Dexter: Original Sin literally sitting right on our doorstep, this week’s pre-finale episode drenches us in answers that pave a big ole bloody path for it to slide right on in and spatter all over the place. Episode 9, "Blood Drive," is full of eye-popping moments, so buckle up, kids. In this week’s recap, we’ll check in on Bobby (Reno Wilson) and explore the horrific aftermath of Laura’s (Brittany Allen) death as Harry (Christian Slater) solves the N.H.I. cases, Dexter (Patrick Gibson) takes down (then sets up) Captain Spencer (Patrick Dempsey), and … wait for it … we get a surprise peek at the origin of the Ice Truck Killer! It’s exciting, I know, so let’s get rolling.

[This story contains spoilers from the third season, including the finale “Essex Strong,” of The Sex Lives of College Girls.]
Gracie Lawrence’s Kacey joined Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls in the third episode of the show’s third season as a transfer student assigned to a four-person suite with Bela (Amrit Kaur), Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) after Reneé Rapp’s Leighton transferred to MIT.
Initially in a long-term relationship with Calvin (Tyler Barnhardt), with the pair ostensibly saving themselves for marriage, promise rings and all, Kacey quickly discovers that Calvin is cheating on her. As she gets involved with the school’s drama department, she meets Cooper (Roby Attal), who she ends up losing her virginity to in the penultimate episode of the season before he breaks up with her in the season finale, saying their relationship is moving too fast.

[This story contains spoilers from the third season, including the finale “Essex Strong,” of Max’s Sex Lives of College Girls.]
If Sex Lives of College Girls fans are worried that that season three finale, which ended with the series’ main characters looking happy as they relaxed together in their dorm suite, was meant to be a series finale or a signal that their beloved show could end part-way through sophomore year, co-showrunner Justin Noble insists that wasn’t the intention.
“No one told us to, like, wrap up the show or anything like that,” he said, explaining that his approach to ending the season was more about his personal preference than any sort of dictate.
“I think just me as a creator, I’m losing interest in cliffhangers,” Noble told The Hollywood Reporter about the mostly cliffhanger-free finale. “I think it’s longer than ever between seasons for logistical reasons within the industry, and frankly, I don’t think audiences like cliffhangers the way that they used to. Spoiler Alert: This post spoils the finale of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3.
Another semester at Essex College has come to an end in the finale of Season 3 of The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Showruner Justin Noble directed the Season 3 finale, which ends on a very different note compared to the Season 2 finale which had some tension brewing between Pauline Chalamet’s Kimberly and Alyah Chanelle Scott’s Whitney as well as some uncertainty for Amrit Kaur’s Bela.
“Very intentionally, this is a finale that chooses joy. These girls have come into their sophomore year of school. They’ve been challenged severely, and it felt only right that we should show the wins for all these young women who succeed in all these different ways,” Noble told Deadline. “The title for this episode was in the works for a while, it’s called ‘Essex Strong,’ and...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale of “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”
For once, the sex lives of the college girls in “The Sex Lives of College Girls” are going all right.
Bela (Amrit Kaur) has the most surprising evolution of the quartet: In the finale, after three seasons of maximally obsessing over sex with men, she spontaneously kisses her new friend Haley (Belle Adams), then gleefully comes out as bisexual to all of her friends the next day. There’s a slight hiccup when her mom (Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier) shows up to a comedy show at which she planned to publicly announce her queerness. But later, she holds hands with Haley in front of her mom, who reacts with nothing but love and acceptance.

The only way is Essex. “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” Max’s cult hit comedy series, returns the week before Thanksgiving, the streaming service announced Wednesday. Max also released a new teaser trailer for Season 3 of executive producer Mindy Kaling’s series.
Things are typically wild as the girls return for sophomore year. Bela (Amrit Kaur) wants to hook up with the mascot, Franklin the Fox. Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) swipes right on Whitney’s (Alyah Chanelle Scott) dad. Normal stuff at Essex College.
Season 3 finds breakout star Renee Rapp transitioning to a recurring role and making her exit from the series during the season as she focuses on her music career. She is heavily featured in the trailer, though, cracking jokes and hugging her suitemates.
Returning series regulars include Chalamet, Kaur, Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and Renika Williams. New cast members include Gracie Lawrence, Mia Rodgers, Nabeel Muscatwalla,...

The Sex Lives of College Girls co-creator Justin Noble is assuring fans they haven’t seen the last of Reneé Rapp‘s Leighton, who is back for a handful of episodes to wrap up her storyline in Season 3.
News of the actress’ departure from the Max dramedy broke last year, with a Deadline exclusive report. At the time, it was revealed that the singer-songwriter would not be a series regular, readying to leave the show after a few episodes.
“[She] definitely still has some lessons and room to grow ahead of her,” Noble told Teen Vogue in a recent interview previewing the forthcoming third season. “She’ll be faced with a couple of big choices and she’ll have to make a couple of big decisions in all aspects of her life.”

Netflix is parting ways with two of its freshman dramas.
The streaming service canceled Partner Track and The Imperfects.
Partner Track launched on August 26 but failed to garner much traction.
The series followed Ingrid Yun (Arden Cho), a 1st generation Korean American and the first lawyer in her family, who experiences the trials and tribulations of excelling at the prestigious (but old school) law firm, Parsons Valentine.
Bradley Gibson (Power Book II: Ghost), Alexandra Turshen (Ray Donovan), Dominic Sherwood (Shadowhunters), and Rob Heaps (Good Girls) also starred.
The cast was rounded out by Nolan Gerard Funk (The Flight Attendant), Matthew Rauch (Banshee), and Roby Attal (The Haunting of Bly Manor).
Unfortunately, the series ended on a big cliffhanger, meaning it joins the ranks of Netflix's other one-and-done series that failed to get conclusions.

Netflix’s upcoming romantic dramedy series “Partner Track,” set at a Manhattan-based white-shoe law firm, has been described as “Sex and the City” meets “Suits,” but for star Arden Cho the series is unlike any other that she’s seen on television. That’s because the story centers on a first-generation Korean American merger and acquisitions lawyer, Ingrid Yun (Cho), as she navigates everything from forbidden romance to microaggressions at the male-dominated company — something Cho said is hard to come by in shows about single 20-something women in New York City.
“Ingrid just sticks out to begin with,” Cho told TheWrap. “She is an Asian American woman, and there is some diversity at the firm but it’s very clearly noted. You’ve just got, ‘Oh, we’ve got a couple of people of color. Let’s stick them together, and that’s your diversity,‘ which is something we see happening in the world.

Strap in for the ride of your life and death! A terrifying tribute and modern twist on classic bloody slasher fun, Hell Fest is the perfect treat for anyone who doesn’t want Halloween to end! More than just a stylish setting, the theme park’s lavishly constructed labyrinth of grim attractions become characters in their own right, as we join the hapless teens in fearful suspense of what may simply be part of the festivities, or something more sinister.

Hell Fest is the latest simplistic, conventional, horror film from the depths of the money-grubbing Hollywood machine. Helmed by director Gregory Plotkin, only his second feature after highly successful stints as an editor on numerous productions, ranging from Jordan Peele’s Get Out to the Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams comedy Game Night. Plotkin is most noticeably and well known to have been a longtime series editor on the long-enduring and softly effective Paranormal Activity franchise, even helming the fifth entry Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, with little to no acclaim or credit. He returns back to the director’s chair with his latest venture in Hell Fest,...

Shockingly high concept for its astonishingly low budget, Robert Rodriguez’s “Red 11” was never meant to see the light of day, but turned out so well that the director opted to share it with the public as a kind of empowerment tool. Make no mistake: The thriller — which takes place in a medical research lab where young people sell their bodies to science, at a price — is a clunky, badly acted, and frequently embarrassing by-the-numbers picture at best, held together with shoestring and paper clips, but that’s almost beside the point.
Debuting at SXSW just weeks after Rodriguez’s most expensive production yet, “Alita: Battle Angel” (and shot over 14 days during post-production of that project), “Red 11” was inspired by the unorthodox way Rodriguez made his Sundance audience award-winning debut, “El Mariachi,” and designed to prove that resources are irrelevant when it comes to teaching oneself how to make movies,...

This attempt at a retro slasher flick has no sharp edges whatsoever.
The most interesting aspect of Hell Fest is its setting: a rather large and labyrinthine horror amusement park of sorts, full of mazes and attractions and costumed employers all in the service of scaring the pants off the customers. The exhibits and rides are all elaborate and detailed, in keeping with the increasingly extravagant events that pop all over the country this time of year, making one beg the question: why watch this movie when one can find a real-life horror show to slink through instead?
The truth is, even if you don’t have any such destination near you, there is really no reason to watch Hell Fest anyway. Ostensibly a throwback to the glory days of slasher movies (circa the 1980s), Hell Fest is too calculated in its objectives, missing the grittiness and nastiness of the...

Eye candy without much to offer the brain or emotions, “Hell Fest” is a competently crafted slasher film rendered instantly forgettable by its disinterest in character, plot, and motivation, let alone original ideas. An early Halloween salvo, it will be gone from theaters before that holiday (or even the latest screen “Halloween”) arrives, but should in the short term satisfy that seasonal itch among horror fans before bigger, better fright-fests arrive.
After the obligatory prior-victim’s-fate prelude, we meet the film’s college student protagonists, who are young and cute but not much else. Natalie (Amy Forsyth) reunites with ex-roomie Bff Brooke (Reign Edwards) — the movie suggests there’s some reason why they haven’t seen each other for a while, but never gets around to explaining it — while less enthusiastically renewing acquaintance with Brooke’s irksome new flatmate Taylor (Bex Taylor-Klaus).
Nonetheless, all three are soon off to Hell Fest,...

Halloween is right around the corner. The season for creepy costumes, pumpkin carving, and candy collecting is nigh. Above all, it’s the season for haunted hayrides, menacing mazes, eerie escape rooms, and spooky spectacles. These attractions are more popular now than ever. Forbes reported on the numbers: Halloween spending reached $8.4 billion in 2016, and it was estimated to reach $9.1 billion last year, so the timing is perfect for a big-screen horror film that’s set almost entirely in an amusement park on All Hallows’ Eve.
Hell Fest falls back on a familiar formula: put archetypal, good-looking young people in peril on a dark night and let the body count commence. The “Hell Fest” of the title is a traveling carnival that features a labyrinth of horror-themed rides, diversions, and themed rooms, and attracts thousands of fans wherever it goes. It’s all fun and games at first, but our heroes...

A serial killer is on the loose and brutally murdering people in a horror-themed traveling amusement park in this new red-band trailer for Hell Fest. What makes this film so interesting is that the people who are being hunted down think that all of these killings are fake and all part of the show... at first. Then reality kicks in and they are fighting to survive!
I like the concept of this movie because it's something that I think a lot of us may have thought about while going to these fun and creepy Halloween attractions every year. What if a demented killer went on a killing spree in one of these settings?
