Encanto is still waiting for its sequel, as despite its success, a new installment has yet to be officially announced by Disney. However, John Leguizamo has hinted that Encanto 2 may be closer to happening than fans might realize.

Leguizamo discussed the possible sequel in a new interview with People at the opening night for the Buena Vista Social Club. He shared how he's just as eager as the fans to see Encanto get a sequel, though he has the advantage of knowing the decision makers. Leguizamo teased that he's been personally badging the Encanto team about getting progress moving on a follow-up film, sharing a promising update on the movie finally happening.

"I'm also waiting for an Encanto 2 when all we do is talk about Bruno," Leguizamo quipped, referring to "We Don't Talk About Bruno," the popular song featured in the film. "I'm calling them everyday saying 'When is number two coming?...

While a lot of filmmakers are focused on making the next cult classic, kids' movies are still a massive part of this lucrative industry. An Encanto sequel remains a possibility at Disney. Jared Bush, who co-directed the 2021 animated movie and was recently appointed as the new Cco of Walt Disney Animation Studios, has addressed whether fans can expect to see a return to the world of Encanto in the future.

Per Fiction Horizon, Bush shared at D23 Brazil that Encanto remained "a film that is kept in my heart," adding that he loves "all the characters of the Madrigal family." While he tiptoed around confirming a new Encanto project, he seemed to hint that something may be in the works. "Ill say, without revealing too much, that I would love to spend more time in the Madrigal House and return to Encanto. I hope that one day it will be possible," he added.

The animated Disney movies have become a genre of their own with almost every animated feature released by the studio becoming an instant classic.

Disney's Encanto is one of the House of Mouse's most celebrated animated movies of recent years. With its all-star cast and hit songs like "We Don't Talk About Bruno," "Surface Pressure," and "Dos Oruguitas" from legendary songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film almost instantly took its place among the most recognizable Disney movies of all time.

With a rich Columbian heritage featured heavily in the film and a primarily Latinx cast, it was only right that the film be dubbed in Spanish. While some cast members did return to voice their characters, some other original voice actors were recast with new Columbian voice actors who brought an entirely different life and magic to the story.

Yvette Merino, the producer of Encanto, mentioned that they are exploring different ways to keep the world of Encanto alive, including the possibility of attractions at Disney Parks. Encanto could also expand through publishing and consumer products, as the team is collaborating with partners to ensure the franchise stays alive.

In a recent interview, producer Yvett Merino hinted that Disney is working on ways to “expand across the company.”

“There’s different—we’re working closely with our friends in publishing and consumer products to make sure—there’s always different ideas and needs and wants for, for it to stay alive out there,” Merino said in an interview with The Direct. “But I don’t have anything official to say, but I love the ‘Encanto’ world and can’t wait to see it expand across the company.”

Although Merino didn’t delve into the idea of a direct sequel to the animated film, she did say that the parent company wants to keep the world of Encanto alive.

“I think we will continue to work on what that actually means.

Stephanie Beatriz expressed her excitement about the possibility of reprising her role in an Encanto sequel and praised the incredible team behind the film. Beatriz shared her love for Disney and her willingness to continue working with them, as fans eagerly await news about a potential sequel. Despite no official word on a sequel, Disney CEO Bob Iger previously referred to Encanto as a "Disney franchise," highlighting its potential for further storytelling.

“I would love to work with them again. That team on that film was so incredible to work with that. I think a lot of [Jared Bush and Byron Howard’s] time right now is being taken up by other stuff,” she told TheWrap during an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike about her new Peacock series “Twisted Metal.” “I know Jared and I think Bryon too are working on the second ‘Zootopia’ right now. But I would love to work with them again.”

She noted that she is a “huge” Disney fan.

“I go to the parks a lot and whenever people recognize me they ask about that too.

Transforming Disney’s award-winning animated feature “Encanto” into a live experience at the Hollywood Bowl in front of an audience of 17,000 people was no easy feat, with factors such as the pandemic, limited access to the venue and unexpected weather conditions all in play. But the production team, cast and crew pulled it off in under 72 hours, delivering a Broadway-quality experience.

Unlike a Broadway show, the original voice cast, scores of dancers and production team did not have the luxury of rehearsing at the Bowl. Gabe Turner, executive producer of the event, said, “We could only gain access to the Bowl for four days before we were due to welcome our dancers, orchestra and cast into the space.”

The 2022 American Music Awards were held live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (20 November).

The ceremony was hosted by American TV personality Wayne Brady.

Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the night with six wins, including Artist of the year and Favourite Music Video.

Other top awardees were Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Machine Gun Kelly, Anitta and Coldplay.

The star-studded ceremony saw performances from P!Nk, Cardi B, Anitta and Missy Elliot.

New Artist of the Year winner Dove Cameron also made her AMAs stage debut in a theatrical performance of her hit single “Boyfriend”.

The Ama nominees were based on criteria such as record sales, streaming performance and radio airplay. However, the winners were chosen via online fan voting.

“In the past few years, I have released more music than I did in the entire decade preceding that,” she said during her acceptance speech. “I really feel that’s down to the fact that you, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music that I would make — you encouraged me.”

Swift said that the more music she put out the happier she felt and thanked the fans for her happiness as they were the motivators.

The Hollywood Bowl can be a magical place. Set in the Hollywood Hills, this giant amphitheater that opened in 1929 seats 17,500 people. They host countless musical acts, but one of the big draws is when a live orchestra plays along with a popular film. The LA Philharmonic recently performed alongside an "Amadeus" showing, and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" with live music is one of the venue's hottest tickets. Now Disney is bringing the Academy Award-winning film "Encanto" to the Bowl with the original voice cast. 

Not everyone can get to Los Angeles, of course, but Disney+ subscribers will be able to stream the special. The concert will happen over two nights on November 11 and 12, 2022, and will be available to stream at the end of the year. 

That's not a bad deal! As cool as the event space is, this means you won't have to deal with the insane traffic, parking nightmares...

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the breakout hit from Best Animated Feature winner “Encanto,” has been an unexpected chart-topper since the movie debuted on Disney+ at Christmas. The song finally got the live treatment at the Academy Awards Sunday night even though, you know, it wasn’t actually nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar.

Cast members Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Carolina Gaitan, and Diane Guerrero performed the infections song alongside the previously announced Becky G and Luis Fonsi and a very unannounced Megan Thee Stallion. And while it indeed was a hoot (you can watch it below), it wasn’t exactly the live-action performance many of us were expecting (okay all of us were expecting), especially when the Lin-Manuel Miranda lyrics were swapped out with some platitudes about Oscar night.

The cast of Disney’s Encanto — Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Diane Guerrero (Doom Patrol), reggaeton singer Adassa, and Colombian musicians Carolina Gaitán and Mauro Castillo — took the stage at the 94th Academy Awards for the first-ever televised performance of the movie’s hit song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda was not on hand to accept Oscar accolades Sunday night, but his work was certainly well-represented, as his song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” provided the Academy Awards telecast one of its splashier moments, uniting voice-cast members from “Encanto” with additional top music stars.

It’s almost unprecedented for a song that could have been nominated for the best original song Oscar but wasn’t to get a performance on the Oscars. That’s nonetheless what happened for the 2022 show, as Miranda’s more somber ballad, “Dos Oruguitas,” was what got nominated by Disney from “Encanto,” and ultimately nominated. But it’s the romp “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” that unexpectedly became a multi-week No. 1 pop hit, and it was close to a fait accompli that “Bruno” would be the tune the Academy, the “Encanto” camp and families around the world would want to see on the show.

As I tipped in my story on the Best Original Song performers announced Tuesday for the 94th annual Academy Awards, another key movie song not mentioned in their release, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto, will be performed on the big show even though it wasn’t even submitted by Disney and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda for consideration in the category. Miranda is a nominee for another tune from the same film, “Dos Oruguitas.”

Since then, both in promo spots running on ABC and in an official press release today and confirmation from producer Will Packer at the just-concluded Oscars press conference, the word is getting out that this is intended to be a major highlight of the show, advertised as the first live performance of the song, which has topped music charts for weeks.

We don’t talk about Bruno. But we do sing about him. And that is what Encanto cast members will do this Sunday at the Oscars, in a first-ever live performance of the breakout song from Disney’s Academy Award-nominated, animated hit.

Oscars producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan announced on Thursday afternoon that Encanto cast members Adassa (who voiced Dolores), Stephanie Beatriz (Mirabel), Mauro Castillo (Felix), Carolina Gaitan (Pepa) and Diane Guerrero (Isabela) — along with Becky G and Luis “Despacito” Fonsi, for good measure — are set to perform “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” during Sunday’s telecast on ABC.

Walt Disney Animation Studios' CG-animated musical fantasy feature "Encanto", directed by Jared Bush, Byron Howard and Charise Castro Smith, starring Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Carolina Gaitán, Diane Guerrero and Wilmer Valderrama, has won the 'Golden Globe' award for the year's 'Best Motion Picture – Animated' by the 'Hollywood Foreign Press Association':

"...forced by an armed conflict to flee her home, a young 'Alma Madrigal' loses her husband 'Pedro' but saves her children 'Julieta', 'Pepa' and 'Bruno'.

"By a 'miracle', her candle attains magical qualities, blasts away their pursuers, and creates a sentient 'Casita' house for the Madrigals, in a town sheltered by surrounding 'encanto' mountains.

Disney’s “Encanto” and Paramount’s “Paw Patrol: The Movie” have snagged China releases for next month, set to debut Jan. 7 and Jan. 14, respectively.

The news marks the first revenue-share import titles to make it into China from their respective studios in quite some time, as the pipeline of Hollywood content in China has run relatively dry as numerous titles have been stuck in censorship limbo without release dates.

“Encanto” was directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, co-written by Bush and Charise Castro Smith, and features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The voice cast includes Stephanie Beatriz, Maria Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Wilmer Valderrama, and others.

Despite its positive reviews, the film has underperformed at the box office, grossing $88 million in the U.S. and $194 million globally so far. It ran for a month in U.S. cinemas from Nov. 24 before its release on Disney Plus on Dec.

Disney Animation’s newest feature, “Encanto,” centers on the extended Madrigal family, who possess magical powers and live in an enchanted house. Only teenager Mirabel, voiced by “In the Heights” actor Stephanie Beatriz, lacks the gift of incantation.

The movie, which debuts in theaters Nov. 24, is rooted in Colombian culture, so filmmakers Byron Howard and Jared Bush traveled to Cartagena and Bogotá to study the details that would capture the country’s essence. Howard says, “We visited Bogotá, Cartagena and small towns like Barichara, Salento and Palenque and stunning natural landmarks like the Cocora Valley, and spent some time with Colombian families.”

Howard and Bush also learned about secret forests and places of magic called ‘encantos’ which helped the storytellers including Charise Castro Smith bring the Latin experience to the feature and help firmly root the story in magical realism. Says Howard, “These are all over Latin America, usually in areas of natural wonder.

In the film, the magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.
