Julia C. Phillips was raised in Colorado and Texas before attending college in Kentucky. While at college studying for her B.S. in Biology, a love of writing filled free time during breaks, eventually becoming more than a hobby. The research skills she learned have come in handy researching all aspects of the history and myth she uses for her stories.
She completed and published her first contemporary fantasy novel, "Miranda, Queen of Argyll: Past Sins" in 2006 with the second part of the story, "Unlikely Saints", published in 2007. The science fiction short story "Outpost 6" was published in the 2009 anthology, Space Sirens, and reprinted in the 2017 'Best Of' anthology, Maximum Overdrive.
Novel writing led to contract work adapting books for screenplays and eventually to submitting spec scripts. Currently, she has completed the western drama, "Emerald Rose of Texas" for SteamWorld Studios.
The first book in a new mystery series "Corpses ... Don't Care" is being shopped around for a publisher. The adventure spec script "The 12th King" was a 2018 BlueCat Quarterfinalist and is looking for a producer.
