Single’s Inferno producer, Kim Jae-won, is buoyed by the recent renewal of his hit Netflix dating show. But now he faces a problem.
“The program has become more and more popular and the contestants rack up so many followers on their social media,” Kim explains to The Hollywood Reporter, “This is sparking suspicions.”
Single’s Inferno, which just aired its fourth season on the streaming platform, has not only resonated with viewers in its native South Korea, but it has also become a fan favorite worldwide. Season one made history as the first Korean unscripted show to break into the global top 10 on Netflix, with its second season amassing more than 65 million viewing hours.
The premise is a unique one: a group of young men and women are stranded on an “inferno” (a beautiful yet barren island off the main coast of Korea). Sleeping in makeshift tents, they are forced to...

The term "Rrh" in Single's Inferno season 3 means "round and round Ha-jeong". Gwan-hee was caught in a love triangle between Ha-jeong and Hye-seon, with Ha-jeong hoping he would come back to her. Gwan-hee is considered the breakout star of Single's Inferno season 3, and he ultimately chose Hye-seon after going round and round.
The Netflix Korean dating show Single's Inferno season just aired its finale, during which the new term "Rrh" was introduced. The season started with 12 singles, six men and six women, looking for love on a mostly deserted island. The finale ended with four newly formed couples escaping the inferno together.
Among Single's Inferno season 3 cast members, the most popular was professional basketball player Lee Gwan-hee. He had the interest of three women: student Choi Hye-seon, office worker Yun Ha-jeong, and aspiring news anchor Cho Min-ji. For his part, Gwan expressed interest in at least four women throughout the season.

I wouldn’t be lying if I said, “I hate reality TV.” It’s something I absolutely do not gravitate towards. In fact, I’m appalled by the idea altogether, so imagine my plight when I was told I’d be covering Korea’s hottest reality dating show, Single’s Inferno (big emphasis on the “dating” there). I suppose I don’t hate all reality TV; fashion and food contests have a special leeway, and somehow it seems both of these things are very well represented in this show. Maybe not so much fashion, but my first impression of the show, which is already in its 3rd season, was that this is like watching a Mukbang video rather than reality TV, something I actually quite enjoy. No, do not think this means I’ve changed my mind; it just means I don’t want to turn off Netflix within about 5 seconds of starting the show.

Netflix’s hit dating show Single’s Inferno 2 aired in December 2022. It shared the exact format and execution as Single’s Inferno Season 1 but was, for obvious reasons, better planned. The gist of it is that young and physically attractive singles are “deserted” on a tropical island and are left to fend for themselves. Meanwhile, panel hosts Super Junior's Kyuhyun, rapper Hanhae, actress Lee Da Hee, and comedian Hong Jin Kyung, keep viewers entertained with their commentary.
