Jay Crownover made a splash with readers of romance novels 12 years ago with “Rule,” a good-girl-tames-bad-boy tale that generated five interlocking follow-ups. Their blanket title “Marked Men” referred to tattoos — a frequent motif in the prolific author’s several subsequent books. Now there’s a screen translation in “Marked Men: Rule + Shaw,” which ostensibly draws on the whole sextet but focuses on its first installment.

Whether this Fathom Events release will itself generate sequels is a question mark left dangling at the end of these 90-odd minutes, which play theaters nationwide Jan. 22 and 23. Crownover’s fans enthuse over her bringing above-average character dimension to the genre’s usual “spicy” content requirements. Per TV Line, Shields will also share the screen with three-time Emmy Award winner and eight-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close. All's Fair is described as a "high-end, glossy and sexy adult procedural set at an all-female law firm." Created by Ryna Murphy, the series will also feature Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash-Betts, Matthew Noszka, Teyana Taylor, and two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts. During her Jan. 13 Q&a with She Media CEO Samantha Skey (hosted by TVLine sister site Flow Space), Brooke Shields spoke warmly of recently acting alongside three-time Emmy winner/eight-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close and two-time Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts.

TVLine now hears that Shields worked with Close and Watts as a guest star on All’s Fair, the “glossy” legal drama that the prolific Ryan Murphy has in the works at Hulu. (Neither Hulu nor 20th Television would confirm Shields’ casting.)

Netflix's Let It Snow hasn't even come out yet, but I'm already obsessed with the cast. On Monday night, the stars joined together for the film's premiere at The Grove in La. Kiernan Shipka, Jacob Batalon, Shameik Moore, Matthew Noszka, Odeya Rush, Liv Hewson, and Isabela Merced looked quite cozy as they huddled up for a group photo before striking some silly poses together.

Just like the film's photocall earlier this month, the premiere was transformed into a Winter wonderland complete with fake snow on the red carpet. Netflix's new holiday rom-com Let It Snow looks like Love Actually, but for modern-day American teenagers. Unlike the 2003 holiday film, however, the new movie is based on a work of literature. Back in 2008, Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances was released as a Ya book, and that's what forms the inspiration for the upcoming Netflix movie.

Technically, Let It Snow is not a novel in the true sense of the word.
