Fauda actor Idan Amedi is recovering after he was seriously injured while fighting in Gaza during reserve duty for the Israeli Defense Forces, according to Israeli media reports.
Amedi, who plays the role of Sagi Tzur on Netflix’s popular Israeli drama, joined Israel’s military campaign in Gaza as part of the Combat Engineering Corps immediately after the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in southern Israel by Hamas that killed more than 1,100 Israelis, most of whom were civilians.
The Times of Israel newspaper reported an injured Amedi was brought to the Sheba Medical Center in Israel, where he underwent surgery and continues to receive treatment. Amedi’s life is not in danger, the Israeli singer and actor’s father told the Hebrew-language Walla news site.

The co-creator of the popular Netflix show Fauda, which depicts the conflicts and challenges of a fictional elite Israeli special forces unit, once had an idea for a storyline in which hundreds of Hamas terrorists infiltrate Israel and overwhelm a village. But, as Avi Issacharoff told a reporter, he decided not to go with it because “it sounds crazy” and wouldn’t be realistic.
If only that were true.
On Oct. 7, what was seen as “crazy” to some of world’s most creative screenwriters came to life in 22 kibbutzim and villages across southern Israel. Hamas terrorists infiltrated by air, sea, and land with one intent: To kill as many Jews as possible. By the time they were driven out, more than 1,400 people were dead — 1,200 of them civilians, and 30 of them Americans. Nearly 200 people, including babies, the elderly and the disabled were kidnapped and taken to Gaza, a war crime and a moral travesty.

As the conflict between Israel and Gaza continued to escalate, Israelis and their allies in Hollywood pleaded for support and said they were riven with anxiety for the well-being of friends and family.
“Some of the immediate reaction is disbelief, rage and anger. And I think I’ve settled in over the last 24 hours to just immense sadness,” said Casting Networks co-ceo Rafi Gordon, who was born and raised in Israel before moving to the United States as a teenager. “This feels like a 9/11 kind of moment, where I don’t know what normal is on the other side of this.”
“People have tried justification for violence for 3,000 years and it doesn’t work. We need to find justifications for peace,” MRC co-founder and co-ceo Modi Wiczyk, who has close family in Israel, told TheWrap two days after surprise attacks by Hamas left some 900 Israelis dead and thousands wounded.

The Indian adaptation of the popular Israeli action-thriller series ‘Fauda’ is returning with its second season. The second season will retell a tale of the Indian Army’s many counter terrorist operations in the Kashmir Valley, in greater detail.
This is much like how ‘Fauda’ covered the Israeli Defence Forces’ covert operations against the terrorist organisation Hamas.
The first season of ‘Tanaav’ followed a black ops group of the Indian Army, the Special Task Group, carrying out operations against the Pakistan Army sponsored terrorist organisation Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.
It also showed the separatist activities in Jammu & Kashmir, as well as the inflow of weapons and finances to the terror groups from various outposts in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey.

Fauda, the breakout Israeli thriller drama, is unexpectedly returning for a fifth season, Deadline has confirmed with sources.
Yes, the Israeli network behind the show, reportedly unveiled plans for a new season of the show at an event earlier this week. Ilan Sigal, CEO of Yes, appeared on stage with co-creator Avi Issacharoff to confirm the news, according to several Israeli media outlets.
Fauda, which means ‘chaos’ in Arabic, became a huge international hit for Netflix after the streamer licensed the first four seasons of the show. It follows Doron, a commander in Israel’s Mista’arvim counter-intelligence unit, and regularly touches on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
It garnered significant viewing in countries such as Lebanon and cut through in Europe, Asia and the U.S. There have been several remakes, including in India where SonyLIV ordered Tanaav, a Hindi remake.
Season four launched last year and was expected to be the final run.

Ilan Sigal, CEO of Israeli network Yes, revealed the news earlier this week, according to the Jerusalem Post. The newspaper reported that Sigal appeared alongside the show’s co-creator, Avi Issacharoff, at Yes’s annual “Bar Series” event to share the news.
Netflix streams “Fauda” internationally. The fourth season of the show, which was also meant to be the last, released earlier this year.
According to Israeli publication Ynet, “Fauda” was picked up for a fifth season following protracted negotiations between the network and the creators. No details have been confirmed in terms of the season’s plot or when it might air.

Imad Mughniyeh was responsible for more American deaths in terrorist attacks before the devastating 9/11 bombings and was able to outsmart not only the CIA but also the Mossad. Making matters even more difficult was the fact that no one knew what he looked like. By 2001, he was on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist list with a $15 million bounty for information leading to his arrest. The reward was later bumped up to $25 million. He ultimately appeared on the most wanted list in 42 countries before he died was assassinated at the age of 45 in a car bombing in 2008.
Showtime’s new limited series “Ghosts of Beirut” shines the spotlight on the terrorist and the CIA and Mossad’s attempts to capture him. The Washington Post’s national security reporter Shane Harris recently conducted a Zoom conversation with co-creators Greg Barker and Avi Issacharoff and star Dina Shihabi.

Showtime has released an official trailer for Ghosts of Beirut, a four-part spy drama that revisits the true-life manhunt for the deadly Hezbollah mastermind Imad Mughniyeh, who killed more Americans than any other terrorist before 9/11 as he eluded the CIA and Mossad for over two decades.
“You push the button, and go to Paradise,” a voice-over in Arabic says at one point in the limited series trailer, as Mughniyeh, also known as the Ghost and played by Hisham Suleiman, sets up more deadly terrorist strikes.
The heart-pounding thriller comes from Fauda creators Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz and will stream on Showtime May 19 before making its on-air debut May 21. The trailer has a pulsing score and explosive action sequences as Ghosts of Beirut spans decades and weaves in first-hand, real-life interviews with officials from the CIA and Mossad to connect the turmoil of 1980s Beirut with the spy games of the modern Middle East.

Fauda is a series created by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff. With Lior Raz, Hisham Suliman and Shadi Mar’i. You can watch the fourth season starting January 20 on Netflix.
Fauda in its fourth season in a mix of action, political thriller and the (evident) touch of social conflict. Beyond the evident confrontation (this is not a product about politics), this is a very entertaining series that has rhythm and intelligence and has known how to captivate the viewer with its complex plot, it elaborate characters and above all, its frenetic rhythm and elaborate construction in the parallel stories that have known how to reach an audience seeking big thrills.
This is a great success and excellent entertainment. The action scenes are very elaborate.
This season is just as good as the past ones: more of the same, more than one expects have made Fauda a phenomenon worth watching.

“No End,” described as “a magical and subtle portrayal of Iran’s regressive socio-political system,” also earned its lead actor Vahid Mobasseri the Silver Peacock for best male actor. In its citation, the jury commended Mobasseri’s “economy of gestures and being capable to transmit,...

Fauda creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff are attending the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) in Goa for the world premiere of the fourth season of the show. Since the first season started streaming on Netflix, the Israeli political thriller has built up a huge following in India, and also has a Hindi-language remake, produced by Applause Entertainment for local streamer SonyLiv.
“When Netflix first bought the show, we started to notice on social media that we were getting so many followers in India,” says Raz, speaking to Deadline on the sidelines of the festival. “We didn’t know what was happening, but we started to understand that we have a good relationship with the Indian audience.”
That relationship is something they want to take further as part of a push into producing international content through their Tel Aviv and Los Angeles-based Faraway Road Productions, which was recently acquired...

Netflix is poised to unveil several of its series and two of its movies at the International Film Festival of India. The festival gets underway on Sunday and runs to Nov. 28.
Streaming platforms and film festivals can have uneasy relationships – due to its relationship with French cinemas, Cannes refuses to program Netflix films in premiere slots, and in India streamers were accused of taking advantage of pandemic conditions to license movies that could not access theaters – but increasingly they are finding common ground. Iffi will hold panel discussions after screening some of the Netflix content.
Monday will witness the global premiere of “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,” a crime thriller series that Netflix describes as “pulpy.” Directed by Neeraj Pandey, it navigates the birth of a super cop and a super villain and their epic clash in Bihar. Panelists will include Shital Bhatia, Bhav Dhulia, Karan Tacker, Avinash Tiwary, Jatin Sarna,...

Mayer, the Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Candle Media, which acquired Moonbug late last year, will give a keynote alongside Rechtman discussing the strategy and future plans of both Candle and Moonbug.
Sky Studios CEO Cécile Frot-Coutaz will also speak at the market, which takes place in early April in person after two years of cancellations.
“It could not be timelier to welcome René and Kevin to the Cannes stage,” said Mip TV director Lucy Smith. “Whilst their new owners are presently the industry’s most high profile, acquisitive startup investing in, and supporting, storytellers whose companies can thrive creatively, commercially, and technically in a future media landscape. Updated with official announcement: Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs’ Blackstone-backed Candle Media has formally clinched its latest deal — for Faraway Road Productions, the company behind Fauda and Hit & Run.
The acquistion had been anticipated and marks the latest expansion of the company into content in a handful of deals in recent months that’s made it a major player in media M&a. Last week, it agreed to buy a minority stake in Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Inc., which followed acquisitions of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and Moonbug Entertainment, producer of Netflix runaway kids’ favorite CoComelon.

The roll-up media venture led by ex-Disney execs Tom Staggs and Kevin Mayer has set its next acquisition: Faraway Road Productions, the Israeli entertainment company behind Netflix series “Fauda” and “Hit & Run,” Variety has confirmed.
The deal for Tel Aviv, Israel-based Faraway — founded by and headed by Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz (pictured above) — is the third for the still-unnamed company formed by Stagg and Mayer with the backing of private-equity company Blackstone. It’s a comparatively small tuck-in: The price tag for Faraway is under $50 million, according to a source familiar with the pact, compared with $3 billion for kids’ media company Moonbug Entertainment and $900 million for Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
Issacharoff and Raz first inked a deal with Netflix in 2017 for political thriller “Fauda,” in which Raz also stars, based on his and Issacharoff’s experience serving in the Israel Defense Forces‘ special forces unit. The duo...

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to renew geopolitical espionage thriller Hit & Run, co-created, executive produced and headlined by Fauda’s Lior Raz, for a second season. The news comes a month and a half after the release of Season 1, which ended with a major cliffhanger.
Hit & Run, which also starred Sanaa Lathan, Kaelen Ohm, Moran Rosenblatt and Gregg Henry, was well received by critics and viewers, with 70%+ ratings from both official reviews and audience feedback. But the sprawling drama, whose first season, impacted by the pandemic, filmed in New York and Israel, is expensive.
Because of the Covid-related industry shutdown, the nine-episode Season 1 took three years to produce. It debuted August 6 and broke into Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 the following week at No. 8. It was the thriller’s only appearance on the overall weekly chart, which other Netflix originals like Outer Banks and Virgin River recently topped.

Hit & Run will not be getting a second season at Netflix.
Despite a major cliffhanger ending, the espionage thriller from Fauda creators Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz, and co-showrunners Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin (Judging Amy, The Killing), will be ending its run after one season at the streaming giant, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Both sets of co-creators have overall deals at Netflix, which had seemingly made the creative choice of ending the first season on a cliffhanger a safer bet. The first season released in early August and Issacharoff and Raz re-upped their deal the following week.

Ask anyone who has ever watched Lost, and they will tell you the “look both ways” cause of death is never easy to witness.
But when the title of a show is Hit & Run, the best thing you can do is brace yourself for visual impact. Adding to the wince factor is the fact that Danielle, the woman who dies after getting mowed down by a speeding BMW during the Netflix spy thriller’s premiere, gets hit over and over in the top-of-the-show recaps for most of the drama’s nine episodes.

Lior Raz is ready to take Hollywood by storm. Over lunch at the Sunset Marquis, the Israeli actor-cum-co-creator of “Fauda,” the high-octane thriller focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, is primed for what comes next. Most specifically he’s focused on his recently-launched Faraway Road Productions and nine-part crime drama “Hit and Run,” which bows Aug. 6 on Netflix.
The series, which follows a Tel Aviv-based tour guide whose wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident, was co-created with writer-journalist Avi Issacharoff, whom Raz met during their compulsory army duty and with whom Raz has not only developed and birthed “Fauda,” but also a steady parade of upcoming titles for both film and TV under their Faraway Road umbrella.
The focus, says Raz is “to make TV shows and stories that bring out new voices, different voices, foreign voices.”

HBO Max released the official trailer for the upcoming reality dating series “Fboy Island,” which will premiere on July 29.
Hosted by Nikki Glaser, the series follows three women, Nakia Renee, Cj Franco and Sarah Emig, who move to a tropical island where they’re joined by 24 men. Half of the men are “nice guys” also looking for a real relationship, while the others are self-proclaimed “f-boys” competing for a cash prize. By the finale, all will be revealed — who is a nice guy, who is an “f-boy” and who will the women ultimately choose. The series is a social experiment that asks the age-old question: can “f-boys” truly reform or do nice guys always finish last?
Glaser will executive produce alongside creator Elan Gale, Jason Goldberg, Ben Bitonti and showrunner Sam Dean.
