After a trip to theaters last month, Bloody Disgusting and Screambox‘s summer camp-themed horror-comedy Shaky Shivers is now streaming on Screambox and VOD platforms.

Fast & Furious actor Sung Kang makes his directorial debut on the creature feature that features stand-out performances from newcomers Brooke Markham and Vyvy Nguyen, as well as practical effects from Gabe Bartalos.

Sung Kang, who is best known for playing the fan favorite role of Han in the Fast and Furious franchise, has made his feature directorial debut with the ’90s-set creature feature Shaky Shivers, which landed a North American distribution deal with Cinedigm. They teamed up with Fathom Events to bring the movie to theatres for one night last month, and now it has been announced (via our friends at Bloody Disgusting) that Shaky Shivers will be receiving a digital release on October 17th. The digital version can be pre-ordered on Amazon. The movie will also be streaming on the Screambox service.

Shot over the course of five weeks at a closed down girl scout camp back in 2020, Shaky Shivers takes viewers on a hilarious and nostalgic journey to an abandoned camp where two young women, played by Brooke Markham (In the Dark) and VyVy Nguyen (The Sympathizer), stumble upon a book of magical spells.

Fathom Events unearths a creepy lineup of tricks and treats this Halloween season, as Fathom Fright Fest rises again—terrorizing theaters nationwide beginning on Sunday, September 3.

Featured in this year’s event are two upcoming Screambox Original horror movies, the horror-comedy Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls and creature feature Shaky Shivers, which are joined by a pair of classics from horror mastermind John Carpenter plus The Exorcist, House of 1000 Corpses, and Hitchcock’s The Birds!

Best known for playing the fan favorite role of Han in the Fast and Furious franchise, Sung Kang has now made his feature directorial debut with the ’90s-set creature feature Shaky Shivers, which is being presented to potential distributors at the American Film Market. Shot over the course of five weeks at a closed down girl scout camp back in 2020, Shaky Shivers tells the story of two ice cream shop employees stranded at an abandoned camp, where a book of magical spells puts them in contact with a number of classic movie creatures.

Brooke Markham (Friend Request) and VyVy Nguyen (Young Sheldon) star as the ice cream shop employees and are joined in the cast by Jimmy Bellinger (Blockers), Erin Daniels (House of 1000 Corpses), Skyler Day (Parenthood), and Herschel Sparber (Lucky Stiff).

Audiences who know Sung Kang from the Fast and the Furious films might not expect him to pivot to a low-budget horror-comedy for his directorial debut. But in the height of Covid in 2020, the actor, who plays Han in the Fast films, spent five weeks at a closed-down Girl Scout camp shooting Shaky Shivers, a ‘90s-set monster mash that is an ode to the types of ‘80s films he grew up loving.

“I didn’t want to do something really heavy,” Kang says. “I think a lot of people expected, because of my association to these big blockbuster action movies, that I would do some action film.”

Now Kang is offering the project at AFM this week.

Sung Kang ditches the fast and furious lifestyle for his directorial debut Shaky Shivers — a delightful gateway horror treat that recalls the Goosebumps television show or Are You Afraid of the Dark. In The Dark will end after its upcoming fourth season on the CW. Season 4 is slated to premiere June 6.

The drama series, from CBS Studios, Warner Bros. TV and Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films, was on the bubble, but had been boosted by streaming. In The Dark is written by Corinne Kingsbury and directed by Michael Showalter. It had debuted as a mid-season entry during the 2018–19 television season, and aired during the late spring/early summer in 2020. Its third season ended on October 6, 2021.

The series stars Perry Mattfeld as Murphy Mason, Brooke Markham as Jess Damon, Casey Deidrick as Max Parish, Keston John as Darnell James, Morgan Krantz as Felix Bell, Theodore Bhat as Josh and Matt Murray as Gene Clemens.

In the first three seasons, Murphy Mason (Mattfeld) had gone from a lazy receptionist to a drunken vigilante detective to a drug front proprietor, and then, a woman-on-the-run.

Viewers will be able to continue following Muphy's unique life. The CW has renewed the In the Dark drama series for a fourth season which will air as part of the 2021-22 television season (September 2021 through August 2022). Now, there is an official shift in power, but what will that mean for Murphy and the gang?

For the most part, In The Dark Season 2 Episode 11, was a slower hour gearing us up for the final two installments of the season when they'll likely ratchet up all the drama, excitement, and stakes.

Murphy and the crew are free of Nia, but they're nowhere near out of hot water.

As expected, the first few moments of the hour showed us what led Jess to the bar, pulling that trigger to save Murphy, and the truth about Sterling came out along the way.

Sterling was the quiet Mvp of the hour, and it's doubtful any of them could have pulled off much of anything without her.

After most of the season seemingly laid back and with showing limited grit compared to her boss or ex-girlfriend, it was her hour to shine...

The second season has managed to be more stressful than the first.

Everything that transpired on In The Dark Season 2 Episode 8 was the equivalent of a roller coaster ride, and yet there's still no indication of how the season will come to a close.

It's hard to predict what's going to happen next, but that's the way I like it.

Did anyone have "Darnell and Nia are brother and sister" on their Bingo Card? It came as a complete and utter shock, but it also makes some sense when you consider how often Nia has let Darnell off the hook.

She wanted to keep their relationship secret so that the others who work for her wouldn't believe she was playing favoritism. Except, as Darnell said, she's not doing the best job at coming across impartial.

Sam has taken notice of all of this, and she's already raised some brows and questioned Nia's judgment before.
