Recent leaks have given a sad update on BioShock 4's development. The long-awaited title, which is rumored to be set in a fictional Antarctic city, seemed to be on track with developer Cloud Chamber with the hiring of writers as recently as last year, but this newest update seems to indicate things aren't moving as smoothly as many thought.

In a series of tweets by Oops Leaks, BioShock 4 is "still haunted by the curse of problematic development" and is in "development hell."

A former Ghost of Tsushima writer has revealed that they will be the Narrative Lead on the upcoming BioShock game. Publisher Take-Two announced the fourth BioShock was in the works at its new studio Cloud Chamber back in 2019, with previous developer Irrational Games having shut down in 2017. It did follow up this announcement with a statement that it would still be several years until the game's release, before going quiet for years.

Liz Albl took to Twitter (as reported by Eurogamer) on Dec 7 to declare "the dream is real" as they revealed their new role as BioShock's Narrative Lead, taking over the franchise from BioShock’s creator Ken Levine, who helmed the first BioShock and the series third entry BioShock Infinite in the series but left the world behind with the closure of Irrational Games. The Game Awards are back to celebrate the best titles of the year. Taking place in three studio locations — Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London — the event is hosted once again by executive producer and presenter Geoff Keighley, with special guest appearances from Brie Larson, Christopher Nolan, Gal Gadot, Keanu Reeves, Tom Holland, John David Washington, Reggie Fils-Amie, and more.

Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards has revealed nominations for the annual celebration of video games. Among the top nominees are The Last of Us II, Hades and Ghost of Tsushima.

Neil Druckmann’s sequel leads nominations with a total of 10, while Hades and Ghost of Tsushima follow with eight and seven noms, respectively.

The Game Awards will celebrate 95 video game titles and the accomplishments of gaming individuals and teams across genres and platforms. The annual show will also feature a gender-neutral Best Performance category, where a diverse number of actors will compete for the honor. Those vying for the award are The Last of Us Part II‘s Ashely Johnson and Laura Bailey, Ghost of Tsushima‘s Daisuke Tsuji, Hades‘ Logan Cunningham, and Nadji Jeter of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
