Exclusive: Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ward Horton and Albert Jones are being promoted to series regulars for the upcoming third season of Netflix’s The Night Agent, Deadline can reveal.

On the action thriller series based on Matthew Quirk’s novel, Evans-Akingbola plays secret service agent Chelsea Arrington, with Horton as Governor Richard Hagan, and Jones as Deputy Director Aiden Mosely.

Shawn Ryan, the show’s creator, showrunner and executive producer, confirmed Evans-Akingbola’s Season 3 return in a recent interview with Deadline. A fan favorite, she returns to the series regular status she held in Season 1 after only making a cameo in the second season. Horton’s promotion was presaged by the Season 2 finale, which found his antagonist Hagan poised to become the next president. Looking ahead, the finale teased that the new mission of Night Agent protagonist Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) will be to probe Hagan’s links to shady information...

After a stellar second season and ending, The Night Agent season 3 is already in the works, but it might be missing one of the two main characters from the first season of the series.

In an interview with Deadline, Luciane Buchanan, who stars as Rose Larkin, revealed that she doesn't know if Rose will be part of season 3. She obviously wasn't going to spoil anything, but that's definitely concerning for Rose fans.

Heading into The Night Agent season 2, which just premiered on Thursday, Jan. 23, Variety profiled Gabriel Basso, who stars as Peter Sutherland, the lead character in The Night Agent. In the interview, Basso revealed his plans to leave acting behind sooner rather than later. Ryan followed up with a massive reveal that the show could continue without Peter Sutherland as the focus should Basso choose to leave the profession behind.

A popular series regular character from Season 1 of The Night Agent, Chelsea Arrington, played by Fola Evans-Akingbola, will be coming back after a season-long absence.

The Netflix action drama opted for a clean slate in Season 2 with only the lead, Gabriel Basso, who plays the titular character Peter Sutherland, and Luciane Buchanan, who plays Rose Larkin, the woman Peter was charged with protecting in Season 1, returning.

Back in Action marks Cameron Diaz's long-awaited return to acting and a reunion with co-star Jamie Foxx. Though Cameron and Foxx play a couple in the Netflix action comedy, director Seth Gordon insists their chemistry off-screen was "inspiring" enough to make their on-screen work believable.

Speaking with People, Gordon hailed Foxx and Diaz's close friendship and how their understanding of each other made them an ideal pairing for the recently released Back in Action. According to Gordon, the duo were equally supportive throughout filming, including following Foxx's medical emergency during production. "They took turns in a really deep way supporting each other," Gordon said. "Anyone who was on set will tell you [Jamie] was the biggest cheerleader and hype man for [Diaz], and really for everybody involved, but especially for her. RadioTimes.com had the opportunity to sit down with Seth Gordon to discuss the ending of Back in Action, which involves Emily and Matt being approached by Baron (Scott) for another mission, this time involving Emily's father. Gordon teased that he has "got some ideas" about what that could involve in a possible sequel, which has not yet been officially greenlit by Netflix.

Cameron Diaz is one of the most popular comedy and drama actors, and her films grossed billions at the box office. However, the actress stepped out of the spotlight to focus on her family for a decade and her comeback movie is not the success she'd hoped.

Netflix's Back in Action, where she stars with Jamie Foxx, is Diaz's first film in 10 years. The movie premiered on the platform on Jan. 17, and its debut score has just been unveiled. Out of 23 reviews, Back in Action has an abysmal 26% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which might fluctuate as more reviews come in. The audience score is currently not available, as there are fewer than 50 ratings at the time of publishing.
