Film and stage artist Sonia Okacha is remarkable for her atypical career path.
Born in Morocco from a french mother and a Moroccan father, Sonia participated in stage productions as a child and developed a strong interest in drama.
After classical studies in Paris, in trade and marketing, and a successful starting career in international press, she decides to go back to Morocco in 2010. Her meeting with N. Lakhmari and her part in his film Zero, one year later, marked a turning point in her career as an actress.
In 2013, She won her first film award (Best Supporting Actress) for her performance in Zero at the National Film Festival In Tangier.
Since, Sonia has made several appearances in US TV series (The red Tent, AD. The Bible, Killing Jesus...).
In 2015, she has her first leading role in La Moitié du Ciel for which she won the Best actress award at the Muscat International Film Festival in Oman (2016).
In 2016, she will star as Al Horra in Brahim Chkiri's historical TV serie Assayeda Al Horra.
Her upcoming projects are Brad Anderson's Beirut (2016) and Yassine Maroccu's Catharsis or the Afina Tales of the Lost world (2016).
