Internet icon Benito Skinner Aka Benny Drama is making his TV debut with semi-autobiographical comedy series “Overcompensating.”

Skinner writes, executive produces, and stars in the college-set Prime Video series that boasts a who’s who of legendary co-stars. Connie Britton and Kyle MacLachlan appear in the show, with Charli Xcx serving as the executive music producer and guest star. The official synopsis reads: “‘Overcompensating’ is a college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Skinner), a closeted former football player and Idaho homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen, a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs. With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.

Prime Video has revealed the premiere date and first photos for Overcompensating, created by and starring Benito Skinner.

The comedy series, produced by A24 and Amazon MGM Studios, will premiere all eight episodes on May 15, 2025, on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The 30-year-old actress joined co-stars Anna Baryshnikov and Julia Fox at the premiere of their new movie Idiotka on Wednesday (March 12) held at Zach Theatre in Austin, Texas.

Fellow cast members in attendance included Owen Thiele, Benito Skinner, Mark Ivanir, Galina Jovovich, and Nerses Stamos along with director and screenwriter Nastasya Popov.

Idiotka, “which is set in the vibrant, eccentric world of West Hollywood’s Russian enclave, unspools against the high-stakes drama of a ‘Project Runway’-style reality show,” according to Deadline.

Cooper who hosts the viral podcast Call Her Daddy, has landed her first unscripted series at Hulu, a “unique” dating show, with the working title, Overboard for Love.

The official logline reads in part: “Step aboard the ultimate luxury yacht, where sexy singles are ready to mix and mingle … and find love. But there’s a twist … gaining access to the yacht’s extravagant amenities won’t be so simple. As the journey unfolds, romance ignites; alliances form; and hearts are shattered. The three were featured on separate Variety Power of Young Hollywood covers, as the mag recognizes the annual Young Hollywood Impact list, profiling the top young actors, musicians and creators in the industry.

Jay Kanter, agent to superstar Hollywood clients including Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, died Tuesday at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 97.

His son, Adam Kanter of Independent Artist Group, remembered his father as someone who conducted his entire career with “integrity and kindness.”

Kanter also inspired Jack Lemmon’s character in Billy Wilder’s classic comedy “The Apartment.”

Jay Kanter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and started out working at McA, with mentoring help from Lew Wasserman. At just 22 years old, he was sent to pick up Brando at the train station and they became friends, with Brando becoming his longtime client.

He went on to represent stars including Warren Beatty, Gene Kelly and Ronald Reagan.

Kanter relocated to London when McA bought Universal, where he oversaw production for the studio in Europe. When the studio shut down European operations, he founded a production...

Jay Ira Kanter, veteran film producer and agent to a long list of Hollywood luminaries including Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, among others has died. He was 97.

Kanter died peacefully and surrounded by his family in his Beverly Hills home on the morning of August 6.

The agent and executive got his start in the business after his stint in the US Navy, which he joined during World War II. Kanter applied for a job at McA and rose up quickly through the ranks. He was mentored by Lew Wasserman.

At age 22, Kanter sought an offer for a young actor named Marlon Brando. Brando then traveled to Los Angeles via train, and Kanter picked him up at the station. Upon arrival, the two became fast lifelong friends, with Brando becoming Jay’s longtime client.

FX is picking up “Snowflakes” for a series order. The upcoming comedy from executive producers Nick Kroll, Jonathan Krisel and Stefani Robinson is set to premiere next year.

The half-hour series comes from Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw (“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”) and follows a group of 20-something housemates “trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet,” a press release for the series reads. The comedy stars a relatively unknown cast that includes Malik Elassal (“Joe Pickett”) as Smir, Lucy Freyer (“Paint”) as Billie, Jack Innanen (“The Dessert”) as Paul Baker, Amita Rao (“Emperor of Ocean Park”) as Issa and Owen Thiele (“Theater Camp”) as Anton. The pilot was written by Kronengold and Shaw and directed by Krisel.

The Disney-owned outlet has handed a series order to Snowflakes, an ensemble comedy about “a group of codependent housemates trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet,” as the show’s logline puts it.

The series, for which FX ordered a pilot in January, comes from FX Productions and writers Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon). Nick Kroll (who has a first-look deal with FX Productions), Baskets co-creator Jonathan Krisel and Atlanta and What We Do in the Shadows alum Stefani Robinson are among the executive producers. Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao and Owen Thiele play the five twentysomething housemates.

Exclusive: Alex Cooper, host of the hit Call Her Daddy podcast, is adding to her talent pool.

Cooper has signed actor Owen Thiele, who starred in Theater Camp, to The Unwell Network, her burgeoning talent network.

Thiele is the latest rising star to join The Unwell Network’s ranks, following the likes of content creators Alix Earle, Madeline Argy and Perfect Match star Harry Jowsey.

Cooper launched The Unwell Network in August 2023 and is behind podcasts such as Hot Mess with Alix Earle, Pretty Lonesome with Madeline Argy and Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey. It is part of her media company Trending, which she founded with her husband Matt Kaplan of Ace Entertainment.

It will now work with Thiele to develop and produce upcoming projects.

The retail giant/streamer is developing Off Color, a semi-autobiographical comedy created by and starring Theater Camp breakout Thiele.

Off Color is based on Thiele’s unconventional adopted family. The logline reads, “He’s gay and Black, they’re all Jewish, his mom should be on Real Housewives and his cousin’s a former party girl turned Rabbi-in-training. The comedy is about a son who doesn’t want to grow up, a mother who has no intention of letting him, and a dad who’s probably faking a nap in the other room so he doesn’t have to engage.”

Theater Camp tells a funny and heartfelt story of an eccentric staff of the rundown theater camp AdirondACTS in upstate New York. When the beloved founder Joan (Amy Sedaris) falls into a coma, her misfit, bro-y son Troy (Jimmy Tatro) tries to run the camp.

When Troy arrives, he does not receive a very warm welcome. He simply does not fit into this musical world.
