Every episode of Tracker introduces a new missing persons case from a different location in the U.S. for survivalist Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) to tackle. The one case that has loomed over his head for decades, however, is that of the death of his father. Throughout the series, namely the first season, bits and pieces about Ashton’s (Lee Tergesen) mysterious death have come together.
In Season 2, Episode 13, titled “Neptune,” a new character is sort of introduced that might not completely disappear now that this case is done. In fact, some suspect, or at least hope that he might be a missing link to bring everything about Ashton Shaw to light.
'Tracker' Season 2, Episode 13 Dives Into Government Spy Territory

Drasa is a sniper for hire and business has been good. At least until she finds out her identity has been compromised. Needing to drop out of site for a while she accepts a year-long assignment operating a watchtower overlooking a mysterious gorge that doesn’t exist on any maps.
Directly across from it is another tower, this one manned by Levi a former Marine sniper. He’s been recruited by Bartholomew who tells him its a chance for him to pull himself out of the bottle and get his life back together.
Why are the towers there? That has something to do with what’s in the gorge, creatures referred to as The Hollow Men, after a poem by T.S. Eliot. Nobody knows what they are, but they wiped out a force...

If, like me, you start off watching Apple TV+’s latest release, The Gorge, without having any idea that Scott Derrickson directed it, you might initially mistake it for a psychological thriller/romance drama until the supernatural elements of the narrative start popping up, turning the movie into a generic survival thriller and somewhat hampering the overall experience. Don’t get me wrong, the prosthetic work, and the phantasmagoria of the set design was top-notch, as can be expected from a prolific horror director like Derrickson, and the overall camera work is lavish to say the least. But when it comes to the spooky bits, the narrative treatment is generic at best. For a character and romance-driven plotline, the dialogue is unironically cheesy and clunky, which I don’t really know if it was intentional or not. All in all, The Gorge had the chance to elevate itself out of the eponymous formation,...

The Gorge’s Darklake is reminiscent of Resident Evil’s Umbrella Corporation, which had been conducting secretive research to develop bio-weapons and super soldiers for the highest bidder. I know, Bartholomew did mention that the aim of Darklake’s project was to make American forces unbeatable, but you can’t really tell when an evil corporation will switch sides to suit their interests. The film suggested that, after the 1946 outbreak, the biochemical research project was completely shut down, and both the Eastern and Western powers made efforts to keep their mess a secret. They had built huge watchtowers on opposite sides of the valley to make sure that the biochemical contaminant never ever left the Gorge. Both parties respected the ground rules until, in 2004, a paramilitary group called Darklake started a covert operation, the Darklake Genome Advancement Initiative (Dgai), aimed at advancing DNA manipulation technology for military and medical applications.

Too bad the movie fails to do justice to their talents, despite the narrative providing every opportunity to do so. After the duo ends up falling into the gorge, they need to make an escape while taking on the undead monstrosities of the hellish landscape, and in the process, they discover the sinister secrets that created these abominations in the first place.

Two elite sharpshooters-turned-assassins are hired separately for a secret mission to guard either side of a gorge that contains a mysterious threat in remote, secret location. On one side of the gorge is ex-Marine Levi (Miles Teller), hired by the U.S. Army, and on the other is Lithuanian assassin Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy), hired by the Russians, in a secret agreement between the West and the East that has persisted since the early years of the Cold War. This unlikely agreement was made to contain a threat so deadly that both sides want it confined to this remote gorge, and this decades-long arrangement is so secret, even the U.S. Presidents were unaware of it. Each year, countries in the West and nations in the East send a new guard to man the tower on their side of the gorge.

Through the Hollow Men, Apple TV’s The Gorge gives us a visual depiction of T.S. Eliot’s “The Hollow Men,” who, in his poem, speak about men who are dead on the inside and have nothing, but guilt and shame left within them. In the film, these lost souls are a manifestation of their inner malice and insatiable desires that have corrupted their hearts and blurred their consciousness, filling them with an eternal darkness that cannot be contained. These creatures have somehow survived death, but in the process lost their humanity. Wandering on the surface like a mindless fog, they want to remake the world in their own image, just like the biochemical virus mentioned in the film. During the Second World War, the Eastern and the Western forces joined hands to stop one ruthless dictator, but in their zeal to do so, they created something more monstrous than the world had seen before.

The Gorge is a romantic sci-fi thriller starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller and directed by Scott Derrickson. The story revolves around two snipers, one sent by the United States government and the other by the Russian government, to protect a secret location known as the Gorge. The area was inhabited by strange creatures, named Hollow Men after T.S. Eliot’s poem. As a sniper, Levi had many records to his name; he was an ex-marine who had worked for private contractors after his retirement and continued to serve the Marine Corps occasionally. He had recently been diagnosed with Ptsd, and he suffered from acute loneliness. Bartholomew, who headed the secret operation, was in search of someone who did not have anything to hold them back, and Levi fit her requirements perfectly. Meanwhile, Drasa, a brilliant sniper, was in trouble after she shot an oligarch for the Russian government. She needed to disappear somewhere safe,...

The Gorge’s ending was all about Levi and Drasa trying to survive the horrors that existed in the town at the bottom of the titular chasm. Hired by a mysterious company called Darklake, Levi was stationed at the West Tower and Drasa at the East Tower, which were located on opposite sides of a seemingly bottomless ravine. They were told to not contact each other no matter what happened and only report back to HQ via radio on a daily basis about whether they had restocked all the weapons around the abyss and checked if the cloaking devices were working fine or not. What were those weapons and cloaking devices for? To keep these grotesque-looking humanoid creatures from getting out of the hole they were in and terrorizing human civilization. Although the nature of the job was strenuous and life-threatening, Levi and Drasa struck a chord and met each other.

Scott Derrickson directed and Zach Dean wrote the film The Gorge (2025), which is the sort of high-brow B-movie picture Hollywood has forgotten to make in the glut of IP content the major studios are chasing. A genre mash-up of romance, horror, and action in the vein of video game adaptations, “The Gorge” juggles multiple tonalities rather well, admirably taking in stride the usual contrivances and tropes.

I genuinely love movies about elite soldiers facing off against horrors beyond human comprehension. The sight of watching a warrior’s arrogance and bravery, which comes from their ability to wield the latest cutting-edge weapon, evaporates as they come to the realization that their primitive ways of warfare are of no use is oddly satisfying. I suppose Aliens is responsible for this obsession, immediately followed by the evergreen classic that is Predator. Dog Soldiers is really underrated and should get a lot more mainstream attention. I didn’t initially like Annihilation, but upon a rewatch, I admired what it was going for. I fell in love with Overlord almost instantly. I’m not sure if it counts, but I’ll give a shoutout to Underwater. Also, Love, Death & Robots’ shorts set in this subgenre, The Secret War, Sucker of Souls, Kill Team Kill, and In Vaulted Halls Entombed, are incredibly rewatchable.

Miles Teller certainly scored points in Top Gun: Maverick, but now with The Gorge he has really flown into the danger zone.
Valentine’s Day is certainly appropriate to release this hybrid of several genres including horror, sci-fi, action and romance, the latter due to a clever “meet cute” angle between two sharp-shooting assassins hired to guard East and West towers separated by 600 meters, below them an imposing, dense, foggy forest that holds a dark secret.
No doubt it is a lonely job when Bartholomew (Sigourney Weaver), the shady corporate operative who is one of the few who knows of the top kept secret of what the Gorge holds, recruits Levi (Teller), an ex-Marine and private contractor, a hit man talented with guns and weapons who Bartholomew decides is perfect for the yearlong assignment of making sure there is no escape from the mysterious gorge, a place of which even nine Russian heads and 13 U.

The Gorge director Scott Derrickson opened up about his newest sci-fi action horror movie, which will feature Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy as an elite sniper tasked with guarding the gateway to hell. This marks Derrickson’s first high-profile action movie in a while, after directing Doctor Strange in 2016.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Derrickson confirmed that he was inspired by several popular horror video games like Silent Hill and Until Dawn, during the development and production of The Gorge. "I love those games, and I do think that gaming has sort of set the bar for gun-play action, especially if you're really with a single character or two characters, you kind of can't beat it," he shared. "I think that the challenge of the movie was not letting it fall into just the straight, chaotic stimulus of gaming-type action. The challenge was to have that kind of stimulus and power and really utilize that.

Director Scott Derrickson‘s new sci-fi thriller “The Gorge” is largely a two-hander between Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy as assassins tasked with guarding opposite sides of an enormous and highly classified chasm.
That chasm is also home to a supernatural force that cannot be allowed to get out, under any circumstances. Outside Teller and Taylor-Joy’s central story — a romance that develops over binoculars as they communicate without ever traversing the space between them — one of the movie’s biggest pleasures lies elsewhere.
That’s in Derrickson’s casting of Sigourney Weaver as Bartholomew, the imposing and enigmatic operative who hires Teller to guard the gorge without revealing its secrets — or her own intentions. Part of the fun of watching Weaver in the role is seeing her as a character that recalls not Ripley, the heroine she played in four “Alien” films, but one of the shadowy figures behind Weyland-Yutani,...

Stephen King is known for his generosity when speaking about other writers' works, and a recent book he praised will make for an excellent TV series when it finally hits screens. These days, King is a champion of books, even if they're not his, lending his name and thoughts to many new publications to help boost their visibility. After all, the King of Horror's words carry weight with lots of readers, with Stephen King's recommendations for horror and thriller books being particularly strong. As such, plenty of writers have benefited from his reviews, whether in an official blurb or simply his own thoughts on social media.
One of those he's praised is Riley Sager's 2019 book Lock Every Door. The story follows Jules, a down-on-her-luck woman who agrees to take a job as a professional "apartment sitter" for the rich and famous denizens of the posh, mysterious Bartholomew apartment building.

This article contains spoilers for the One Piece manga.
One of the many points One Piece constantly reiterates is that no organization can be taken at face value to be purely good or evil. The marines have a lot of nuance past the image they put up. While they are the greatest defense for civilians against dangerous pirates, they're also the tool the Celestial Dragons use to keep power. They keep secrets and are just as likely to order harm to a civilian populace as they are to protect it. The Buster Call is the most public means by which they cause blatant destruction. Civillians aren't supposed to know about them, but Buster Calls are well known within the marines. While Buster Calls have only been shown in three instances in the manga, they are clearly something the marines are willing to use as often as they deem necessary.

The following contains spoilers for One Piece.
Bartholomew Kuma's life experiences reinforce the series' central themes of freedom, tyranny, and oppression. Kuma's story connects with major parties like Dr. Vegapunk, the Five Elders, Monkey D. Dragon, and the sun god Nika, highlighting the struggle for freedom in One Piece's world. Kuma, as a priest, represented the faith of the downtrodden that Nika would one day save them, and it's happening now.
For hundreds of chapters and anime episodes, One Piece kept the truth of Bartholomew Kuma a total secret. His character was taken at face value, being a stern, taciturn enforcer of the World Government's will as a huge man armed with the Paw-Paw Fruit. He also served as the model of the Pacifistas, meaning he became the very image of World Government and Navy authority. More recently, though, One Piece manga readers learned the heartbreaking truth.

We’ve seen Zoom call horror (Host), and live-stream horror (Deadstream), and now Welcome Villain Films brings us ‘wellness influencer horror’. This realm of online content can easily veer into the uncanny with its commodification of health and self-care through ultra-positive ambassadors. Mind Body Spirit explores the pitfalls of this lucrative corner of the internet while telling the haunting story of a woman trying to break into the industry.
Anya (Sarah J. Bartholomew) is a woman who is lost and on a journey to find herself through the online wellness community. She is able to embark on this venture by inheriting her estranged grandmother’s house which becomes her filming space. The film is shot like a found footage movie as she switches between her “on-screen” yogi persona and the woman struggling to find meaning in what she is doing. Bartholomew does a fantastic job in this practically one-woman show.

Filmmakers could spend the next decade highlighting the mounting horrors of influencer culture, especially with standout dissections like Alex Henes and Matthew Merenda’s Mind Body Spirit. The filmmaking duo organically recreates a hopeful celebrity vlogger’s downward spiral with the utmost Screenlife dedication. Henes and Merenda make tremendous use of a single-location California estate that never feels overused, while cinematography stays cleanly static when recreating YouTube-ready shooting styles. Where other Screenlife titles get bogged down in the technical nitty-gritty, Mind Body Spirit centers on an effortlessly zen production that becomes a haunting supernatural confrontation no positive mental attitude can exorcise.

In the sixth episode of Beacon 23, the origin story of Beacon 23 introduced us to Dr. Ree Avalon, the first beacon keeper and the one who gave Bartholomew the nickname Bart. Avalon was the first human from Earth to see the artifact, created by the space silicates swimming around a light. Avalon tried to unravel the mystery surrounding the artifact, which caused her severe hallucinations. It even led Avalon to leave the space station to embark on a journey into infinite space to decode the source of this miracle. However, Avalon lost her life in the process. After Avalon, when a couple became the keepers of Beacon 23, they accidentally became pregnant and chose to give birth to the child, keeping it a secret from Isa. This child, named Parsim, grew up to be Aster Calyx, whose parents had to escape from the space station in order to evade the capture of Isa.

After the 2016 reboot, The Magnificent Seven is now set to return in the form of a Prime Video TV show from True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto. John Sturges' The Magnificent Seven was first released back in 1960, serving as a Western-style remake of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. The film was remade in 2016 by director Antoine Fuqua starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt, earning mixed reviews and becoming a modest box office success.
Now, Variety reports that, after co-writing the 2016 reboot, Pizzolatto is set to reboot The Magnificent Seven once more in the form of a Prime Video TV show. The project was initially announced in March as an original series, but will now serve as a reimagining of the classic Western. The reboot show is part of larger plans in the works at Amazon to capitalize on the valuable IP the company inherited following its acquisition of MGM last year.

The Pirates Code is an essential set of rules (or guidelines) in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but are they a real part of piracy history? While Disney's wildly popular franchise is full of supernatural curses and exaggerations, some aspects of the story surrounding Captain Jack Sparrow and the rest are inspired by actual events and locations. Still, even these were significantly changed by the Pirates movies—including the Pirate Code.
The Code of the Brethren Court (often reverently called "the Code") was first mentioned in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie—The Curse of the Black Pearl —when Elizabeth Swann enacted the right of parley. She claimed that according to the rules established by Morgan and Bartholomew, the pirates that had broken into her house and murdered her attendants were bound to bring her unharmed to their captain.

If you've seen The Lego Movie, starring Chris Pratt (voice), Elizabeth Banks (voice) and Will Ferrell then chances are you know the song "Everything Is Awesome." While you may remember it as being an ultra-upbeat pop track with nothing but lyrics about "blue skies, bouncy springs" and endless partying, you may be surprised to learn that writing the tune was anything but. In theory, the songwriting process for The Lego Movie's theme song seems like it would have been a blast. Well I hate to burst bubbles but it turns out everything was Not awesome for one of the track's songwriters, Mr. Shawn Patterson, who co-wrote the now-infamous tune with Joshua Bartholomew, Lisa Harriton and The Lonely Island. Patterson explained what made the process of writing "Everything Is Awesome" so excruciatingly painful for him in an interview with THR: I was going through a very ugly divorce when I...
