As much as we love covering the careers of prominent actors like "Spider-Man" franchise star Zendaya or "Mad Max: Fury Road" protagonist Tom Hardy, there's something uniquely exciting about looking at the work of a fast-rising star like Louis Partridge. Since appearing in Netflix's "Enola Holmes," opposite "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown, the 21-year-old English actor has appeared in some high-profile films and television shows, building his resume under the guidance of visionaries like Matthew Vaughn and Academy Award-winners Danny Boyle and Alfonso Cuarón.
At present, it sure seems as though Partridge is preparing to set the world on fire for the next few years, with starring roles in Steven Knight's "House of Guinness" and George Jaques' "Sunny Dancer" on the way. Greta Gerwig's first Chronicles of Narnia movie may now have a theatrical release window, but only if one key condition is met. Gerwig is the director behind Lady Bird, Little Women, and most notably, the 2023 hit Barbie. Since making Barbie, the director was offered the opportunity to work with Netflix on two movie adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia. Unlike the Disney movie adaptations of the story, Gerwig's version has been reported to follow the chronological order of the books. With so many Sherlock Holmes adaptations out there, it's understandable why Netflix's Enola Holmes has achieved accomplishments that others (like Robert Downey Jr.'s 2009 film) haven't, as it stands out from the rest. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Enola Holmes has an all-star cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, and more. Still, the 2009 adaptation of Sherlock Holmes starring Downey Jr. was a success and quite entertaining. Unfortunately, Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes hasn't reached the heights of Enola Holmes, and perhaps it never will.

The psychological thriller, written and directed by Oscar-winner Alfonso Cuarn and based on Rene Knights 2015 novel, stars Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, an acclaimed documentary journalist who becomes the subject of a mysterious novel that seems to expose a long-buried secret from her past. The story unfolds in a non-linear format, revealing crucial events from a young Catherines (Leila George) sordid affair in Italy with Jonathan (Louis Partridge) and its present-day repercussions.
In an interview with USA Today, George and Partridge discussed the intensity of their roles at the center of the series twist. The series finale reveals that Catherine was actually the victim of a series of sexual assaults by Jonathan, portrayed as the innocent victim in The Perfect Stranger, the novel written by his mother, Nancy, that haunts Catherine throughout the series.

From writer/director Alfonso Cuarn, the seven-part Apple TV+ series Disclaimer follows acclaimed investigative journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett) as she receives a novel from an unknown author that she quickly realizes shes actually the main character of. It delves into her past and her darkest secrets but does so from a perspective that is very different from her own memories. As the audience learns about Catherine, she is reminded of her experience many years prior with a young man named Jonathan (Louis Partridge) while facing how that has shaped her and affected her own family in the present. And everything is complicated even further by the fact that timelines and perspectives are woven together in a way that bursts the bubble Catherine has insulated herself, but that also doesnt fully grasp the true extent of the trauma until shes willing to open her own past wounds.

Editor’s Note: The following story contains major spoilers for the series finale of “Disclaimer.”
Like great opera, “Disclaimer” reaches a shattering — and unashamedly emotionally overwrought, and series-overturning — conclusion in its final seventh hour. And that’s even well before Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett), hyped up on a pitcher of homemade cold brew downed at a junkie’s pace to dilute the tranquilizers Stephen (Kevin Kline) put in her tea, falls to her knees in a hospital at the notion that Stephen may have just killed her son (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
We learn in Episode 7 that the tell-all book dropped on Catherine’s doorstep in the premiere was indeed an elaborate fiction written by Jonathan’s (Louis Partridge) mother (Lesley Manville). That that summer two decades ago in Italy wasn’t a seduction on the young Catherine’s (Leila George) part but instead a stalking that ended in her brutal rape...

It’s late into the evening when Louis Partridge finally finds time to talk to The Hollywood Reporter.
The British star is shooting House of Guinness, a new Netflix series from Peaky Blinders mastermind Steven Knight. Partridge explains that he is playing a young Edward Guinness, effortlessly transitioning into a spot-on Dublin accent as he speaks: “It’s a posh, Dublin, Rp in 1869, so he talked like that. It’s not like the Dublin that you hear today, which is more like [boxer] Conor McGregor.”
As you read on, you’ll see the young actor has a knack for impressions. His acting chops are landing him bigger and bigger roles. Partridge’s big break came with Netflix’s mystery movie Enola Holmes, starring opposite Millie Bobby Brown as her love interest. At just 21, he’s now worked with the likes of Danny Boyle, Paul King, and is set to star in...

It is evident that discovering a secret about a loved one, especially someone with whom we’ve shared a significant part of our lives, can be devastating. As we scrutinize the relationship, trust comes into question, and doubts begin to creep in. But how often do we verify that the information is accurate, or consider that there may be another side to the story? How often do we give the other person an opportunity to explain or share an alternate perspective? Based on Renée Knight’s titular novel Disclaimer, a psychological miniseries written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón explores these themes. Currently streaming on Apple TV+, it delves into the complexities of trust, perception, and the hidden truths that can reshape our understanding of those closest to us. By exploring obsessions with love, jealousy, the male ego, and the pleasures of activities like eating, drinking alcohol, and smoking, Cuarón’s...

The first half of the “Disclaimer” finale dedicates itself entirely to Catherine (Cate Blanchett) — her story, from her point of view, in the way she wants to tell it — and, fittingly for a series as meticulously constructed as one would expect from writer-director Alfonso Cuarón, the very first sentence she speaks works as both ominous foreshadowing for the revelations to come, as well as a useful complement to last week’s opening line. Then, she started by saying, “The truth is,” and now, she starts by referring to Jonathan (Louis Partridge) as “the stranger.” Via voiceover, she says, “As soon as I got back to my room, the stranger immediately disappeared from my mind.” For Catherine, that’s all he was: an unknown man whose formal identity she only learned in death, and whose innermost monster she discovered the night prior.

Sometimes, great movies that are met with universal acclaim from both critics and audiences alike do not find the same success at the box office. And one such example is the 2006 dystopian action thriller, Children of Men, which is now available to stream for free. Considered by many to be one of the best examples of the genre, Children of Men remains underrated among wider audiences who are seriously missing out on this stark look at what happens to society two decades after humanity suddenly becomes infertile.
Tackling several subjects that will hit (almost too) close to home, including a totalitarian police state, pandemics, the vicious treatment of immigrants, and the total collapse of society, Children of Men picks up in 2027 (getting closer!) and follows Clive Owens former activist as he stumbles across what might just be humanitys last hope. If you do feel like staring into the abyss, Children of Men...

It also, literally and purposefully, starts with three telling words: “The truth is.” Immediately, not only do we hear directly from Catherine (with Blanchett providing narration over the character’s fateful trip to Italy), but writer-director Alfonso Cuarón frames her story as the truth — not a book written by a grieving mother, not a set of photographs taken by her dead son, but the truth, straight from a primary source.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Disclaimer episode 6.Disclaimer episode 6 ends with one of the show's biggest cliffhangers yet, as things begin to come to a head between Catherine Revenscroft (Cate Blanchett) and Stephen Brigstocke (Kevin Kline). The truth about what happened between Catherine and Jonathan (Louis Partridge) in Disclaimer has not yet been fully revealed, but the sixth and penultimate episode does start twisting the narrative away from the events depicted in the book The Perfect Stranger, and perhaps towards reality.
Throughout the episode, flashbacks to Italy in Disclaimer's past timeline are now narrated by Blanchett herself, allowing Catherine to tell her side of the story: that she and Jonathan did not have an affair, but rather that he was creepy, and seemingly stalking her. It's part of a complicated episode that ratchets up the tension, including Stephen's plan to murder Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee), and ends with a confrontation, finally, between...

Back in 2018, Netflix and the C.S. Lewis Company reached a multi-year deal to adapt all seven Chronicles of Narnia books as movies. Then, in 2022, it was revealed that Greta Gerwig — the director behind mega-blockbuster Barbie — had signed on to helm at least two of those films. But other than that, we don't know much more about the upcoming Narnia reboot.
Netflix has not been in any rush to push out a new string of Narnia films. The streamer has plenty of family-friendly fantasy movies and shows in its catalog to pass the time, such as Damsel and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Narnia movies are still in the early days of development, and nobody has been cast yet. Several names are being rumored, such as Louis Partridge and Saoirse Ronan.
As for right now, before production has even started, Greta Gerwig is reportedly still figuring out the logistics of how to release the movies.

Jack Gleeson appeared on Game of Thrones for four seasons as boy king Joffrey Baratheon, a character so vile and loathsome that fans universally cheered when he was poisoned to death at his own wedding. Gleeson became famous off the back of that role, but being best known as a preening, sadistic jackass probably isn't the kind of famous most of us would like, which might be part of the reason Gleeson laid low for a while after he exited the series. Apple TV+'s buzzy new mystery meets psychological thriller Disclaimer features an intriguing narration style that keeps viewers on their toes. Disclaimer focuses on successful documentary filmmaker Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett), who receives a novel in the mail that details the true story of a deeply personal secret from 25 years earlier. The show marks acclaimed director Alfonso Cuarn's television debut, following his Academy Awards for 2013's Gravity and 2018's Roma.
Catherine's secret is her previous affair with a 19-year-old Jonathan Brigstocke (Louis Partridge) on an Italian beach vacation years earlier, while her husband Robert (Sascha Baron Cohen) was away on business. Jonathan drowned saving her toddler-aged son on the beach, and Catherine seemingly lied to local police about not knowing him personally. Disclaimer's alternating narration, relayed largely by Indira Varma, shows the characters' varying perspectives on Jonathan's untimely death and its aftermath.

We caught up with actors Leila George and Louis Partridge as their acclaimed new miniseries Disclaimer began streaming on Apple TV+. From masterful director Alfonso Cuarn, it's a twisty, star-studded ensemble led by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, whose journalist protagonist must revisit her past once certain long-lost events resurface in more ways than one. Playing a young Blanchett in a series of gripping flashback sequences is fellow Australian actress Leila George (Animal Kingdom).
"I would have loved to spend more time watching [Cate] and shadowing her on set, but unfortunately, I came to the project really late in the process, and she was wrapping up just as I was beginning, so I had about one day's crossover to rehearse," George told MovieWeb, adding:
"We all blocked through some scenes together, some of the major, more important scenes, just so that we could see what her vision for those scenes were, and...

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains light spoilers for “Disclaimer.”]
Alfonso Cuarón’s new foray into the world of television with the AppleTV+ thriller, “Disclaimer,” based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight, delves into many of the questions that have peppered his work — ideas about family, both biological and chosen, masculinity, and secrets that can threaten a life carefully constructed.
Knight’s novel has plenty of those themes to work with and the medium gives Cuaron’s already-expansive world-building even more breathing room. The series stars Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, a famous journalist and documentarian, who unexpectedly receives a copy of a new novel, which she soon discovers features a barely-masked version of her as the main character. Along the way, the novel reveals a secret she’s long kept hidden from her family and the world at large.
The series is deliciously twisty and gorgeously rendered, and putting Blanchett toe to toe with Kevin Klein...

We spoke to chameleonic icon Sacha Baron Cohen on the day his new miniseries Disclaimer began streaming on Apple TV+. Working off the acclaimed novel by Rene Knight, Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarn wrote and directed the entire small-screen adaptation, which offers a wild array of twists and turns thanks to a dense story about modern journalism and broken families. Cate Blanchett leads the A-list cast, and Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7) plays her troubled husband. Film buffs already know of Blanchett's extreme talents as an actress, and Baron revealed to us how his extensive experience through those acclaimed mockumentary films paid off in spades to help keep up with performing alongside her:
"She's such an incredible actor. I mean, she's one of the legendary actors of screen and stage there. For me, it was easier, actually, because a lot of the reality stuff that I've done, you know,...
