Exclusive: Aurora Perrineau (Prodigal Son) has been tapped for an undisclosed role in Angels in the Asylum, an upcoming indie drama marking the feature debut of writer-director Rob Sorrenti.
Perrineau joins an ensemble which also includes Katherine Waterston, Simon Pegg, Minnie Driver, Cush Jumbo, Rose Williams and Miriam Margolyes, as previously announced.
Inspired by a BBC Newsnight exposé, the film tells the untold story of 50 women who were forcibly confined in isolation at Surrey’s Long Grove Asylum. Beginning in 1907, these women — deemed typhoid carriers — were imprisoned in the former psychiatric hospital, their lives shaped by fear, stigma, and medical injustice. Pic explores their struggle for freedom and dignity in the face of a system that saw them as threats rather than individuals, shedding light on a dark chapter in medical history.
Heather Greenwood, Marie-Elena Dyche and Charlotte Carey are producing the pic, currently shooting in the UK, with Parkland Pictures handling sales.

Locked In Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Famke Janssen, Rose Williams, Alex Hassell, Finn Cole, Anna Friel
Director: Nour Wazzi
Locked In Movie Review ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
What’s Good: The film’s initial allure is undeniably captivating, immersing audiences in a gothic melodrama enriched by Nour Wazzi’s direction and the opulent setting. The clever twist of Katherine’s locked-in syndrome adds a unique layer to the mystery, initially promising an engaging plot.
What’s Bad: As the story progresses, “Locked In” disappoints with a lackluster execution of its promising elements. The detective game loses its charm, giving way to a predictably stretched conclusion. Famke Janssen’s performance, though promising, falls short under Rowan Joffe’s direction. The film’s reliance on a frustrating trope and a limited cast further hampers its impact.
Loo Break: Feel free to take a break during the prolonged flashbacks and contemplative scenes. You...

Not to sound like a stereotype, but I don't particularly get along with my mother-in-law. But the situation in the latest Netflix thriller, "Locked Up," is a great reminder that things could always be much, much worse. Despite little fanfare upon release and next to no promotion tied to it, "Locked In" has been consistently holding it down on the streamer's Top 10 list since it arrived on November 1. If you've not heard of the film, here's the official synopsis:
Katherine, a former Hollywood actor, wakes up in the hospital unable to move. She's been hit by a car and suffers from locked-in syndrome — her eyes are the only thing she's able to move. Through her nurse, Nicky, we find out what's led to Katherine's hospitalization. Katherine, communicating with her via letter board, blinks when Nicky reads the correct letter: She claims there's been a murder. Through flashbacks, we see snapshots...

Famke Janssen plays an ex-Hollywood star in this forgettable gothic mystery that could have flown its freak flag a little higher
Crashing rain, a remote countryside mansion, illicit sex, a British-accented Famke Janssen holding a shotgun while riding a horse – one might easily assume that the lurid Netflix thriller Locked In is a four-wines-in blast. At times it threatens to be, usually when at least two of those aforementioned elements are in play, but it’s all tease and no payoff, the heightened silliness of the first act wearing wafer-thin by the last, charmingly farfetched turning into an annoyingly far reach.
Written by Rowan Joffe, whose adaptation of Sj Watson’s enjoyably nutty thriller Before I Go to Sleep handled a similar balance far more effectively, Locked In also feels as if it’s based on an airport-bought page-turner. There are flashbacks, a potentially unreliable narrator, shifting perspectives, a hidden...

The supernatural horror genre is overflowing with thought-provoking gems deserving of wide viewership and Britain's The Power is but one example of the many recent indie offerings where the horror is matched by the thematic complexity. Elegantly directed by debuting filmmaker Corinna Faith, The Power is a heady exercise in slow-escalating terror anchored by a resolutely believable Rose Williams as an embattled nurse thrust against menacing forces. Williams' Val credibly morphs from tentative night nurse to rampaging crusader - and the character arc is expertly handled. Tackling provocative themes delicately while delivering ensuring scares abound, The Power is a must-see for genre enthusiasts and sits among the very best films currently available to stream on Shudder.

Masterpiece has released a trailer for the upcoming final season of Sanditon, the drama inspired by Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel, that was adapted and created by Andrew Davies and produced by Red Planet Pictures.
The series took on its own direction (Austen only finished 11 chapters before her death) and writer Justin Young took the helm as lead writer and executive producer for seasons 2 and 3. The drama will premiere on 9 p.m. Sunday, March 19, on PBS. The series also will be available to stream the same day.
Returning characters for Season 3 include Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams), Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes), Tom Parker (Kris Marshall), Mary Parker (Kate Ashfield), Lady Denham (Anne Reid), Edward Denham (Jack Fox), Arthur Parker (Turlough Convery), Lady Susan (Sophie Winkleman), and Ralph Starling (Cai Brigden).
More new faces are joining the series, like Lady Montrose, who is the quintessential Austen mother. She arrives in Sanditon with one objective: matches for her children, Lydia and Henry. Lydia is an independent young woman who is not as eager for a match as her mother, while Lord Henry Montrose is charismatic and confident, but he holds a secret.
There’s also Rowleigh Pryce, a wealthy, curmudgeonly investor who is interested in teaming up with Tom Parker on the seaside resort’s expansion. Their plans become complicated when Rowleigh runs into Lady Denham. Also new to Sanditon is Alexander’s brother, Samuel Colbourne – a lawyer, and a charming bachelor.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris grossed 1.35 million in its second week with a mix of arthouse and commercial theaters among top 10 locations and a nice hold from its opening weekend (-31). Cume to date is 4.65 million for the film starring Leslie Manville as a British housekeeper who dreams of owning a Christian Dior gown. It was No. 10 in North America for the weekend in 1,001 theaters.

Spoilers abound for Sanditon Season 1 (and the first episode of Season 2) below. You’ve been warned!
Fans of romantic period dramas, rejoice! March brought the sophomore return of two beloved Regency-era shows — Netflix’s “Bridgerton” and PBS Masterpiece’s “Sanditon.” While the former is definitely the more boisterous and popular of the two, the latter has amassed a small-but-mighty fanbase of devotees.
Based on the 11 chapters of Jane Austen’s unfinished manuscript, “Sanditon and The Watsons,” the series first premiered in the UK in 2019, followed by a January 2020 release in the United States. Created by Emmy and BAFTA-winning “Bridget Jones’s Diary” writer Andrew Davies, “Sanditon” follows the free-spirited Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) as she relocates from her rural town to Sanditon, a fishing village with aspirations of becoming a bustling seaside resort. While there, she meets the Mr. Darcy-esque Sidney Parker (Theo James), an initially uninviting man who nonetheless piques her interest.
