As shooting for the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Boys continues, Antony Starr has shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set to Instagram along with two throwback snaps from the previous season and some unused concept art.
Starr is suited-up as Homelander in the set photo, and it doesn't look like there's been any major alterations to his costume. There was speculation that the leader of The Seven might don a new outfit for this final season after he took a step closer to the White House in the season 4 finale.
The actor also revealed some artwork for Ryan's (Cameron Crovetii) "Homeboy" costume, which never actually made the cut. Ryan appeared to fully give himself over to the "dark side" after killing Grace Mallory (Laila Robins) in the finale, so perhaps we'll see him suit-up alongside his father at some point in season 5.

Attention, Spn Family. You’re invited to a Supernatural reunion, though it takes an alternate form from what you’d assume. Word has come down the wire that Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are officially joining Jensen Ackles for the fifth and final season of The Boys as guest stars.
Eric Kripke, who created The Boys for television, also created Sam Winchester and Castiel, Padalecki and Collins’ respective Supernatural characters. Supernatural fans have waited years for these three to reunite, and it’s only natural for them to cross paths on The Boys before the show goes the way of the dodo.
The trio announced they’re getting the band back together via an Instagram video, proclaiming they’ve “got work to do” for The Boys Season 5. Padalecki and Collins’s roles are being kept under wraps, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start celebrating what is sure to be a momentous occasion.

It doesn’t sound like we’re getting a Supernatural revival any time soon, but we’re getting the next best thing:
A Supernatural reunion on The Boys.
News broke on The Boys’ social media channels Wednesday afternoon that Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki had landed guest starring roles on the Prime Video hit’s fifth and final season.
(Colin Bentley/The CW)
They join Jensen Ackles, who has been a prominent character over the last few seasons as Soldier Boy.
The character’s popularity has opened the door for Jensen to co-lead an upcoming spinoff with Aya Cash.
(Bettina Strauss/The CW)
But we’re sure viewers will be most excited about seeing Jensen, Misha, and Jared together on-screen again because they were a formidable trio on the former CW drama Supernatural.
Despite ending after 15 seasons in 2020, the series remains talked about thanks to its passionate fanbase, who have...

Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have joined the fifth and final season of “The Boys” as guest stars, reuniting with their fellow “Supernatural” alum, Jensen Ackles.
Details on their roles are being kept under wraps.
“The Boys” creator Eric Kripke has long expressed a desire to cast Padalecki on the satirical superhero drama, telling Variety last year, “I feel like I have to complete my game of ‘Supernatural’ Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.” He later told Variety he was talking to Padalecki about a role on the final season, saying, “I love him and you try to work with people that you love.”
In addition to Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, “The Boys” has also featured “Supernatural” actors Jim Beaver (playing Robert Singer), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (playing Joe Kessler) and Rob Benedict (playing Splinter).

Shortly after the fourth season of The Boys wrapped up, showrunner Eric Kripke indicated that Jensen Ackles' (Soldier Boy) former Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki might be set to join him in the upcoming fifth and final season.
Now, a new video posted to the show's X account confirms that Padalecki has indeed joined the season 5 cast... along with Misha Collins!
Supernatural starred Ackles and Padalecki as demon-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester, while Collins played their angelic ally Castiel.
The Boys has also featured fellow Supernatural actors Jim Beaver (Robert Singer), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Joe Kessler) and Rob Benedict (Splinter).
We have no idea which characters Padalecki and Collins will be playing on The Boys, but we'll be sure to update if and when the trades weigh in.

If there's one thing you can count on in every season of The Boys, it's Hughie Campbell winding up covered in blood.
Cameras have been rolling on the fifth and final season of the Prime Video series since last November, and star Jack Quaid has now shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set.
Though the image doesn't provide any context, it seems pretty clear that Hughie will be taking yet another bloodbath when the show returns next year.
In the season 4 finale, Hughie and most of his teammates were captured by Homelander's forces (these slightly spoiler-y set photos reveal where they were most likely sent), leaving only Annie January - now powered back up as Starlight - and Billy Butcher on the lam. With the latter on a crusade to wipe out all Supes, it's probably going to be up to Annie to rescue Hughie and the others.

The Boys has always been right on the nose when it comes to its satire of the world’s political state. Season 4 certainly upped the ante in this respect, and now Season 5’s stage is set to deliver a violent, controversial, and politically-charged finale that will, as usual, be somewhat reflective of the current state of the real world. With the U.S. political landscape about to undergo a dramatic change, showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed the impact this will have on the final season.
The Boys has evolved over the years to go from a straight-up parody of Marvel and DC superheroes, to being much more focused on real-world situations, all-be-it with some brutal and bloody deaths and larger-than-life characters. After Season 4’s finale was forced to add an on-screen disclaimer due to its depictions of an assassination, the question of how blurred the lines between fiction and reality...

Cameras have been rolling on the fifth and final season of The Boys since last November, and star Erin Moriarty has now shared some new behind-the-scenes photos from the set.
There's nothing particularly revealing here, but we do have one monitor shot of Moriarty filming a scene, and it looks like we can expect Annie January, FKA Starlight, to enter her "vengeance era."
In the season 4 finale, Annie and Billy Butcher were the only members of the team to evade capture from Homelander's forces (these slightly spoilery set photos reveal where they were most likely sent), but with Butcher on his own personal crusade to wipe out all Supes, it will probably be down to the now rejuvenated and powered-up Starlight to free her friends.

Series creator Eric Kripke revealed their approach to developing The Boys episodes. He also teased how current events (and how these unfold) will be written into Season 5's storylines.
Eric Kripke said they're developing The Boys Season 5's script on the fly. "I mean, they're not all written, by the way," he told Forbes. "They're about half-written. I mean, look - things adjust all the time." That revealed so much about their creative approach, which also put the previous seasons' plots in perspective. The Boys does not pull any punches in tackling difficult issues; Kripke has confirmed the show is a cautionary tale on authoritarianism, and Homelander is the embodiment of absolute, unchecked power. Kripke asserted that has always been their goal.

There are so many of the best TV shows returning with new seasons in 2025, especially the Netflix shows. New seasons of Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, and more good Netflix shows premiere in 2025. HBO and Max have new seasons of The White Lotus, The Last of Us, and many more. After a rough couple of years for good TV shows, 2025 is going to be one for the books!
Unfortunately, even with all those good TV shows coming back in 2025, there are still a handful of TV shows that definitely won't be back with new seasons this year. We'll be waiting until 2026, or even later, potentially, to watch new seasons of some of the best shows on TV.

If anyone can dethrone Tom Cruise from the top of the streaming charts, it's going to be Laurence Fishburne. His 2024 sci-fi film, Slingshot, knocked Top Gun: Maverick from the top spot on the Paramount+ streaming chart.
The film stars Casey Affleck as ambitious John, joining Fishburne as Captain Franks, Tomer Capone as Nash, and Emily Beecham as John's girlfriend, Zoe. Directed by Mikael Håfström (1408), Slingshot is about a team of astronauts heading on a multi-year mission to one of Saturn's moons, Titan, to gather different natural materials to help Earth.
They use a technique called the slingshot, where the ship takes advantage of the gravitational field of a planet to travel, which also saves fuel. The crew must go through 90-day hibernation cycles for the long journey. When John wakes up from one of many hibernation cycles, he begins to suffer from paranoia and loses touch with reality.

The Boys Season 5 Set Photos Confirm Major Plot Point; Reveal First Look At New Supe Team - Spoilers

In the season 4 finale of The Boys, Homelander took a major step towards taking full control of the United States by removing all political obstacles and rounding-up his enemies, including Mother's Milk, Frenchie, Kimiko, and Hughie (only Starlight and Butcher remain at large).
It was strongly hinted that Homelander's plan would involve interning those who opposed him in prison camps, and we now have confirmation that "Freedom Camps" will indeed be employed for this purpose.
These latest set photos reveal adverts for the camps on the sides of some buses, which also provide a first look at new Supe team, Teenage Kix.
This group is a parody of the likes of the Young Avengers and Teen Titans, and counts A-Train, Sister Sage and the late Popclaw among its former members. In the comics, the roster also includes Big Game, Jetstreak, Hyperion, Shout Out and Mesme.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently spoke about why he was cast in Amazon's hit superhero series The Boys. Morgan plays Joe Kessler in the show's fourth season.
Morgan's character of Kessler was a major antagonist in Season Four of The Boys. Kessler was a CIA case officer and soldier during the War on Terror who was an acquaintance of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). During a battle, Kessler was left for dead by Butcher and killed -- and now, years later, a side effect of overusing Temp V caused Butcher to hallucinate Kessler's appearance, with Morgan's character urging The Boys protagonist to take violent actions and, at times, even control him.

Jack Quaid, one of the various stars of the Prime Video superhero TV show The Boys, says that the final season, which is currently in production, is going to be "crazy" and "messy." Which is not exactly a shift in tone from what we're used to — but it is very exciting nonetheless.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Quaid spoke about three upcoming movies he's involved in: Heads of State, Companion and Novocaine. But he also took to the mic to answer some questions regarding the upcoming fifth and final season of The Boys, the show that shot him into stardom some years ago when he was still only known for being Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan's son. A few years have passed, and Quaid has become part of the new Hollywood generation and one to watch.
We're sure playing Hughie in The Boys is already an essential part of Quaid's life.

2024's Slingshot is a science fiction psychological thriller starring a three-man crew of astronauts who start questioning what is real on a years-long journey to the Saturn moon of Titan. Directed by Mikael Håfström, whose credits also include 1408 and Escape Plan, Slingshot is a space survival story starring Laurence Fishburne, Casey Affleck, and Tomer Capone. The film premiered on August 30, 2024, and debuted below expectations, earning only $818,279 at the box office (via BoxOfficeMojo), and garnering only a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In the film, a team of astronauts is on a multi-year mission to a moon of Saturn, where they intend to harvest precious methane for use back on Earth. The trip and the return require that each man, Captain Franks (Fishburne), John (Affleck), and Nash (Capone), stay in drug-induced hibernation for 90-day cycles, awakening only to perform routine tasks on the ship. The end is near for The Boys, and Jack Quaid promises the fifth and final season will be nothing short of “crazy.”
In a recent interview with THR, Quaid opened up about the decision to conclude the hit Amazon Prime series with its upcoming season, emphasizing that the show is ending on its own terms. “I think it’s good that we end with Season 5 because we’re ending on our own terms,” Quaid explained. “It’s not like someone canceled us and we’re trying to quickly make a season that feels final. This was always the showrunner’s intention to end with five seasons, and I’ve actually known that for a little bit and tried to keep my mouth shut about it [Laughs].”

The Boys offered glimpses of Homelander at his breaking point, which doesn't bode well for anyone caught in his tantrums. Showrunner Eric Kripke hinted the fans will finally see the supe's complete meltdown in the series finale.
Homelander could go full rage mode in The Boys' Season 5 finale. Showrunner Eric Kripke teased as much by describing the supe's mental state coming into the final season. "He's literally all trauma," he told Variety. That could suggest he's finally lost his humanity; he now has unfettered power as Vought overlord and United States dictator. He also has the support of a supe army, and that validation could push him to sever his relationship with Ryan. These fly in the face of his impending mortality, however, which fuels internal conflicts he "resolved" in Season 4 when he massacred those scientists at the Vought laboratory.

The Boys Season 4 ended with Homelander seizing the Capitol. Showrunner Eric Kripke said this will come to a head in Season 5 with a complete takeover.
Eric Kripke confirmed that Homelander will gain full control of the United States in The Boys Season 5. "He took over the country," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It's his country now." Homelander hit a new low in the Season 4 finale when Butcher's crew foiled plans for a supe takeover, but Sister Sage saved the day with a contingency. The final season will give Homelander the keys to the U.S. government, and it will be interesting to see how he wields that power. Kripke teased Butcher and the boys will hit a brick wall wall before the series is over.

In season 5 of The Boys, we expect to find America under the thumb of Homelander as he remakes the country in his twisted image. The supremacy of Supes will be bad news for humans, something that's evident from these newly released set photos.
We see that internment camps have been built across the country, with this one dubbed "Freedom Camp 47." Likely inspired by real-life concentration camps like Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, it's an unsettling piece of imagery, particularly as they're located in modern-day America.
This camp also declares that "Freedom Sets You Free."
We'd imagine this is where Hughie and the rest of The Boys are being kept after their capture in the season 4 finale, and the design of the signage appears to be heavily inspired by both the American flag and Homelander's costume.
The series has never shied away from making its political leanings clear and season 5 promises double down...

Photos taken from the set of The Boys season 5 show the sinister lengths that Homelander (Antony Starr) will go to quell any resistance by anti-supe protesters. The dark Prime Video superhero series imagines a world where the profession of powered heroes is dominated by corrupt corporations and dangerous and power-hungry narcissistic individuals. The fifth and final season of The Boys will see Homelander finally gain control of the world, as the titular group is divided and imprisoned.

The Boys Season 4 ended with Homelander poised to take over the United States government. The final season is looking grim for the human population as new set photos tease what's in store.
The Boys Season 5 will feature a World War II concentration camp setting, based on recent photos shared on Reddit. User True_Cabinet_9733 posted images of what appears a massive compound in the woods with a "Freedom Sets You Free" sign over the entrance. It's also one of at least 47 "Freedom Camps" built, hinting there are more in operation across the United States. "Vernon Corporational Services" is written on the sign, possibly in honor of Robert Vernon (a.k.a. Tek Knight), who was murdered in Season 4. He confirmed a deal with Homelander and Sister Sage to use prisons for detained Vought dissidents, both humans and supes.

As has become something of a tradition, The Boys star Karl Urban has marked the start of production on season 5 of the Prime Video series by sharing a set photo of his character, Billy Butcher, covered in claret.
A blood-splattered Butcher is not exactly a rare sight in The Boys, but following the events of the season 4 finale, this shot might just have even more sinister connotations than usual.
Butcher has always been a morally flexibal guy, but when we last saw him he had fully embraced his dark side (manifested by the late Joe Kessler), killed Victoria Neuman and set off on his own to begin a Supe genocide.
This left the rest of the team on the run, with everyone bar Annie January/Starlight rounded up by Homelander's forces, while the now unopposed leader of the Seven moved one step closer to world domination.

Homelander actor Anthony Starr recently discussed one of the most entertaining scenes from Prime Video's hit series The Boys, revealing why it was one of his favorites. In Season 2's third episode, "Over the Hill with the Sword of a Thousand Men," Chace Crawford's The Deep chases Billy Butcher and his titular team's Yatch down riding a whale. Butcher eventually impales the creature with the boat when the Vought hero attempts to block their escape, leaving The Deep devasted.
Starr and The Boys' creator, Eric Kripke, discussed the series and its upcoming season in a Collider interview, where the actor insisted that the characters on the show are awful and almost always do bad things for a reason, enabling them to connect with fans. To emphasize his point, Starr recalled the scene from Season 2, which seemed ridiculous to him at the time but worked because it was character-driven. "One...

Cameras are now rolling on the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Boys, and showrunner Eric Kripke has taken to social media to share the first official set photo.
The shot features returning stars Antony Starr, Chase Crawford and Nathan Mitchell, who will be back to antagonize Billy Butcher and the gang as Homelander, The Deep, and Black Noir, respectively.
The Deep and Noir - who took up the mantle after Homelander killed the original masked villain in season 3 - became a lot more dangerous in the season 4 finale, stepping up as Homelander's enforcers after fully embracing their penchant for merciless brutality.
Things look very bleak for The Boys - especially after Butcher's betrayal - so let's hope the team gets some super-powered back-up in season 5.

Over the past four seasons of The Boys, the show has peeled back the layers of Antony Starr's Homelander. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that Season 5 will depict the character in his weakest state yet, as we will see the powerful supe physically vulnerable for the first time. As The Boys' satirical version of Superman, Homelander has most of the Blue Boy Scout's same powers, with some incredibly patriotic adornments to his costume (his Stars and Stripes cape belongs in a Michael Bay movie). However, the character doesn't yet have his own version of kryptonite – at least, not one that audiences have seen.
Speaking to Variety, along with The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, Antony Starr teased what fans can expect from his villainous supe in the fifth and final season. "Homelander starts the season off discovering his own mortality," the actor revealed. In the past, the closest...

The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, disputes claims that the hit Prime Video series has gone woke, saying it's the world that has changed to match the series. Despite its comical setting with evil superheroes, The Boys has always been a scathing satire of the American commercial system. Later seasons saw the show get political, as Homelander (Antony Starr) made a play for the White House in Season 4. Fans criticized the series for being too on the nose with its satire in Season 4, but Eric Kripke never could have predicted just how accurate the show's reflection of reality would be.
Speaking to Variety, Eric Kripke discussed how The Boys became one of the most relevant superhero shows around. Unlike the McU's Falcon and the Winter Soldier, whose social lesson boils down to "do politics better," The Boys takes a multi-faceted approach, dissecting several elements of the American political and capitalistic system.

Fans assumed that season 5 of The Boys would likely start shooting this week after star Laz Alonso (Mother's Milk) shared a photo of the cast meeting up for dinner to his Instagram page, and showrunner Eric Kripke has now confirmed that cameras are rolling on the Prime Video show's final batch of episodes.
Kripke posted the first page of episode 1's script to social media, revealing the title: "Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite."
While speaking to TV Guide about his plans for the final season earlier this year, Kripke was asked if he's already decided who is going to survive and who will come to a no-doubt messy end.
"Anyone who dies in season 5 will richly deserve it. We have a certain sense of who live and who dies, but we don't have it all totally figured out. But you get to do the final season of a show and...

The Boys Season 5 is set to begin production soon, and the crew has already shared a behind-the-scenes look at the final chapter of the mature-rated superhero saga. After the cliffhanger ending that saw Homelander and Billy Butcher on one final collision course toward calamity, the upcoming season will finally conclude the raunchy superhero storyline that began in 2019. No stranger to grotesque and adult-only sequences, The Boys is once again teasing another insane season premiere that lives up to expectations.
The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke shared the first page of the script for the premiere of Season 5 with the caption "One. Last. Ride." The title of the episode, written by Paul Grellong, is "Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite," which could reference a variety of things that could happen in the fifth season. Without speculating where these many inches of dynamite could possibly be placed in, it would not be shocking if...

The Boys season 5 gets a new update, with creator Eric Kripke unveiling an intriguing title for episode 1. First released on Prime Video in 2019, the hit superhero satire has become one of the streamer's most popular offerings. After the release of season 4 earlier this year, which continues Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) bloody quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr), The Boys season 5 is confirmed to bring the show to an end, with production getting underway in Toronto this month.
Kripke now takes to X, formerly Twitter, to share an image of the script title page for The Boys season 5, episode 1, revealing the title to be "Fifteen Inches Of Sheer Dynamite." The title page also confirms that episode 1 was penned by Paul Grellong and directed by Phil Sgriccia, both of whom are also executive producers on the show. Kripke's post includes a "#DayOne" hashtag, seemingly confirming that filming is now underway. Check out Kripke's post below:

Queue up that famous Thin Lizzy song because filming has begun on the fifth and final season of The Boys. Based on the graphic novels of the same name by Garth Ennis, Prime Video's The Boys has been a runaway hit and a breath of fresh air in the increasingly stagnant superhero genre. Starring Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukahara, Chace Crawford, Laz Alonso, Colby Minfie, and many, many more, The Boys is set in a world where superheroes are real, and they're all arrogant, narcissistic celebrities. Season 4's finale saw Homelander (Starr) eyeing a place in The White House, while Billy Butcher (Urban) unleashes his most violent desires.
Laz Alonso revealed that production on Season 5 has officially begun through an exciting post on Instagram. The photo showed the entire cast of The Boys Season 5 getting together for dinner. In the photo, Quaid, Urban,...

The Boys has spent several years satirizing the world of commercial gains, political underhandedness, and corporate greed, but as the series comes to an end and the universe of the franchise expands in new ways, creator Eric Kripke is terrified of turning the superhero drama into the very thing they have been ripping to shreds. Season 5 will bring The Boys to a close, but Gen V and Vought Rising will keep the flags flying for now. With other spinoffs potentially on the cards, there is a question of when enough is enough.
In an interview with Collider, Kripke addressed the future of The Boys, and explained his worry that the show could end up being the thing it has parodied so perfectly for five years on Prime Video. He said:
Were gonna look at the chips we have on the table right now. I live in absolute terror of becoming...

Over the course of its four seasons, Prime Video's The Boys has taken aim at major superhero franchises (numerous shots have been fired at Marvel Studios and Warner Bros./DC), with Vought basically doubling for a massive studio machine that churns out endless sequels and spin-offs with little regard for the quality of the projects.
It hasn't gone unnoticed that, as the show has grown in popularity over the years, these parodies have been lacking some bite, and The Boys has spawned a few spin-offs of its own. In addition to Gen V and the animated Diabolical series, we have Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico in development (and they're just the ones that have been announced).
While speaking to Collider, showrunner Eric Kripke admitted that he is afraid of the show selling out by becoming what it's been satirizing.

With The Boys preparing for its final season and several spinoffs to grow the franchise, its show creator hopes the hit satirical superhero series doesn't become what it hates. Series creator Eric Kripke reveals his biggest fear for the series as its fifth and final season draws closer.
Speaking with Collider, Kripke claimed he "lives in absolute terror" that The Boys could "sell out" once its various spinoff shows debut, ensuring the series becomes what it's been parodying throughout its acclaimed run. "The thing about The Boys is that its punk rock, and it hurts extra hard when punk rockers sell out. I'm really working hard not to sell out," he said. "There's no doubt that were a franchise now, but were trying to do it with as much integrity as Hollywood could muster, which isnt much, but its a little."
