Actor Michael Fassbender is known for his role as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto in the X-Men franchise. Fassbender first appeared as the character in 2011’s X-Men: First Class, taking over the role from actor Ian McKellen. It served as a reboot/prequel to the original 2000 film. During an interview, Fassbender spoke about the dynamic between Charles Xavier and Magneto.

Sir Ian McKellen is known for playing the role of Gandalf in the critically acclaimed Lord of the Rings films directed by Peter Jackson. He is also synonymous with the role of Magento in the X-Men films, first appearing as the Marvel Comics character in 2000’s X-Men. However, both these iconic portrayals almost did not happen.

Around the same time he signed on for these roles, McKellen was offered a part in the sequel to Tom Cruise’s blockbuster Mission: Impossible. However, McKellen revealed that he decided to turn down a chance to work with Cruise for one understandable reason, allowing him to play Magento and Gandalf. Here is what McKellen had to say about turning down Mission: Impossible 2.

The Bam Smack Pow comic book fighting tournament continues. The first set of fights were all superheroes. The bracket ends with some expected winners and unexpected losses.
Superman was taken out in the first round by Doctor Strange. The Man of Steel was winning early, but people voted more for Doctor Strange towards the end. Wonder Woman beating Zatanna wasn’t a surprise. The Amazonian is among the best in the universe. Thor dominated the voting against Invincible (no surprise there) as did Wanda Maximoff over the Silver Surfer. Carol Danvers beats Jon Stewart in a battle of space cops while Magento pulls out a win over the Hulk. Storm gets an upset victory over Wally West and Jean Grey destroys Hal Jordan in votes.
Now it’s time for the villains.

The MCU Should Learn From X-Men 97
This…..is one of the greatest things Marvel Studios has ever produced. While Marvel’s live-action projects have been in a bit of a slump recently, with works like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Secret Invasion revealing previously unseen chinks in the once-thought-invincible armor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the House of Ideas has actually been on a bit of a hot streak when it comes to animation.
The What If series has quickly garnered a passionate fanbase and largely positive critical reception thanks to its, in the words of The Mary Sue’s Rachel Ulatowski “unique and refreshing” take on the franchise; and while not made by Marvel Studios directly, the two...

The Disney Plus animated series X-Men ‘97 has been receiving positive responses since its release. The revival of the classic show X-Men: The Animated Series was in the headlines earlier this month for parting ways with showrunner Beau DeMayo. The show’s premiere on March 20 reportedly garnered over 4 million views, making it the second most-viewed animated series on the platform.
The third episode of the series is reportedly adapted from the comic Inferno and follows Jean Grey’s clone. Introduced at the end of episode two, the clone is transformed into the Goblin Queen by Mister Sinister and then assumes the identity of Madelyn Pryor. The episode also sees Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey make an appearance.

Sir Ian McKellen’s portrayal of X-Men villain Magneto is simply too iconic. Rousing speech before a battle might be Magneto’s way of doing things. Sir McKellen, however, is more like another X-Men character than his own. The advice he gave to X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman is proof enough of how unlike Magento he is.

If anything, Sir Ian McKellen might be more similar to Charles Xavier, commonly known as Professor X, in the way he occasionally acts as a mentor for up-and-coming actors.

Michael Fassbender and David Fincher teaming up makes perfect sense. The duo work together so well in their new movie “The Killer” that it’s a wonder that they haven’t collaborated before. Netflix is releasing it theatrically on Oct. 27 and it will start streaming on Nov. 10.
In the new thriller, Fassbender plays a cold, meticulous, philosophizing hitman who must go on a mission to right his own wrong when he makes a mistake on a job. He’s also out for revenge, as is par for the course for a lot of assassin movies. But what isn’t par for the course is Fassbender’s lean and mean performance. We very rarely hear him speak in his actual scenes. Instead, we mostly hear him in a constantly-running voiceover, Fassbender utilizing his rasping voice to good effect. In his scenes, it’s Fassbender’s physicality — from impressive yoga to brutal...

James McAvoy said in a new GQ UK profile that his “X-Men” movies did not take full advantage of the relationship between Charles Xavier and Magneto. The “Atonement” and “Split” actor starred as Xavier in four “X-Men” films, starting with 2011’s “X-Men: First Class” and continuing through “X-Men: Days of Future Past” (2014), “X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and “Dark Phoenix” (2019). Michael Fassbender starred as Magento.
“It was one of the most positive experiences I’ve had with a studio,” McAvoy said about his run making “X-Men” movies with Fox. “I don’t really [see them as just] money gigs. ‘Days of Future Past’ I think is one of the better films that I’ve been involved in.”
McAvoy added, “My biggest criticism of what we did throughout the four movies was that after the first movie, we didn’t take advantage of the relationship between [Xavier and Fassbender’s Magneto], which really formed the backbone of the first film. So it was like,...

Spoilers ahead for Star Trek: Discovery Season 4, Episode 10, “The Galactic Barrier.”
In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Bones prods Kirk by saying he knows his friend resents his desk job when he’d rather be “out there hoppin’ galaxies.” Despite the immortal perfection of this line, Kirk, Bones, and pretty much everyone within the Trek canon rarely actually hops galaxies at all. For all the boldly going where no one has gone before, leaving the galaxy is pretty uncommon within the various narratives of Trek. And yet, in the second Tos pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” the Enterprise left the galaxy. And now, in a game-changing episode of Discovery, “The Galactic Barrier,” Starfleet is trying that trick again. But this time, everything is different, even though some of it is kind of the same. Here’s what Discovery has changed about the Star Trek galaxy, literally…...

This one is long overdue as I bring my Creator in Focus segment back to the pages of eBuying Comics – last seen in Week 38 where I looked at the key issues of Todd McFarlane’s career. I have decided to make a tweak to the segment, previously I looked at current values of those key issues. Where as now the main focus will be on finding good bargains on eBay for the key issues of your favourite creators. Also I think it would be fun and more beneficial to talk about the collected versions available of creators works, which makes it easier for readers to seek out. Especially with the early career stuff. Its useful to know what volumes certain issues are in, whether its paperback or hardback is good knowledge to share with the comics community, new or old readers alike.

With 20th Century Fox now nestled under the gargantuan umbrella that is The Walt Disney Company, movie fans are eagerly anticipating the moment when those world-famous mutants – namely the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four – return home to Marvel Studios.
It’s an exciting prospect, particularly as we ease into Phase 4 in this post-Endgame world. Nevertheless, McU chief Kevin Feige has been quick to stress that the X-Men won’t be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a very long time, as there is still much work to be done before the likes of Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Spider-Man the Guardians of the Galaxy share the screen with Wolverine, Magneto and Professor X.
Speaking of the latter duo, there have been rumblings that Marvel Studios is considering casting people of color for Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier, roles previously played by Ian McKellan and Michael Fassbender (both of whom...

Welcome back to another installment of Panel Discussion – this time featuring a rundown of my picks of the Top 30 comics released in February 2018. This is part one, a countdown of books 30-16… But first the caveats:
First and foremost this is simply my list and with that comes a great deal of subjectivity. Any art form is a subjective medium and taste plays a major role. So if you feel my rankings are way off you probably have a legitimate point. My hope is to simply to highlight great books that deserve attention. We too often focus on the negative so why not take some time to celebrate the positive. Since this is my list that also means I can only rank issues I have actually read. There may be a book that is in your top five that does not make the cut. Please let me know. I try...

As of December 14th, 2017, the X-Men, along with Fantastic Four and a certain Merc With a Mouth, are headed back home to Marvel Studios.
Exactly when we can expect the McU to swing its doors open to Wolverine et. al is another question entirely (and one that Marvel boss Kevin Feige isn’t prepared to answer…yet), but rest assured, the world of comic book movies we know and cherish is about to be flipped on its head in the best possible way.
Now for the million-dollar question: how will Marvel’s creators integrate mutants into the McU? One particularly compelling theory suggested that the Fantastic Four had slipped into a wormhole in the early 2000s, only to emerge in 20Xx when Marvel is already deep into development on Phase 4 and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are sharing the screen with mutants.
As for the X-Men, well, the Dynamic Duel: DC vs.
