“I’ve been to Cannes with films that won the Palme D’or; others have done quite well, and some have really not done well. I know the A to Z of Cannes emotions — but it’s always such a pleasure to be there. And it’s very important to this art form that we all love.”
Important words from Kinds of Kindness star Willem Dafoe about how it really feels to attend the world’s most iconic film festival as a veteran who has fielded varying levels of kindness from the Cannes crowd over the years — not to mention differing durations of those much buzzed-about standing ovations.
As the 77th edition comes to a close, emotions were high and the love for the art form seemed stronger than ever as auteurs, stars, glitterati and industry insiders converged in the South of France for nearly two weeks of cinematic adventures...

That’s a wrap on the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
Movie stars, cinephiles, press and jet-set glitterati mixed with celebrated auteurs and the international film industry’s next generation on the French Riviera for a jam-packed schedule of black-tie world premieres, starry gatherings and beach-set parties. And what a run it was from May 16-27.
After opening with the world premiere of Maïwenn’s Johnny Depp starrer Jeanne du Barry, the festival screened such titles as Sam Levinson, The Weeknd and Reza Fahim’s The Idol; Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon; Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City; Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s Black Flies; Karim Aïnouz’s Firebrand,; Todd Haynes’ May December; Ken Loach’s The Old Oak; and Justine Triet’s Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall.

When Ester Expósito walked the red carpet in Cannes two years ago, she swore she’d be back.
“I was here for a brand, to show off some jewelry,” says the actress, who became a fashion trendsetter and online influencer — with 28 million followers on Instagram — after her turn as the cold, manipulative Carla Rosón Caleruega in Netflix’s Spanish teen drama hit Elite. “But when I was up there on those steps, I thought: ‘I’m going to come back soon, not with a brand with a movie.”
As good as her word, Expósito has returned to the Croisette this year as one of the stars of Lost in the Night, the new crime drama from Mexican director Amat Escalante, which premiered in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard and is being sold worldwide by The Match Factory.
Escalante seems a long way from the soapy prep school world of Elite. The Mexican helmer,...

Sami Miró definitely noticed something different when she started dating Zac Efron—and not just the fact that he's hotter than most people. (As is she, for that matter.) Miró, who had been sporting platinum-blond locks since she first started dating Efron last fall, is also back to her natural brunette hue, just in time to get dolled up in spring's chicest looks in a photo spread by Julian Ungano & Tommy Agriodimas. Talking...
