Frank Grillo and Maggie Q will star in “Cutman,” a dramatic thriller directed by Michael Mailer and written by Tiffany Heath.

Grillo will play an over-the-hill boxer who begins working as the muscle for a local gangster. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a young girl whose mother is a heroin addict (Maggie Q).

Michael Mailer Films will produce in partnership with Bluegrass Pictures, Digital Ignition Entertainment and Tremendous Entertainment. The producers include Mailer, Joel Shapiro, Scott Kluge and Alessandro Penazzi, and the executive producers are Angela Ceccio, Michael Clofine and Jeff Elliott.

Camp X-Ray director Peter Sattler is attached to direct the piece which centers on Scott, a twenty-something aspiring writer who, in the wake of his father’s sudden death, sees his dream of moving to Paris put in jeopardy when he is forced to temporarily take in his wildly unpredictable, mentally ill sister. Steve Waverly wrote the screenplay which Black Label Media’s Molly Smith, Rachel Smith, Thad Luckinbill, and Trent Luckinbill are producing with Trina Wyatt. Blm’s Jon Schumacher is the executive producer of the project. Kirke’s credits include Gone Girl, Mistress America, and Untogether, which recently premiered at the Tribeca. The script, written by Tiffany Heath, follows a retired boxer who is dying of cancer and working as an enforcer for low-level mobsters. He is haunted by the death of his “cutman” and just wants to die in peace before he meets a junkie and her daughter as they all search for meaning and revenge.

King will play the junkie Josie Ray Broussard, a haunted shell of a soul, with a fragile body, left horrifically traumatized by the abuse she endured as a child. Tarnished by heroin addiction and hard living, Josie is a drifter who travels with her 10-year-old daughter, Stryk, wherever the wind blows them. A middle school science teacher has been accused of killing two neighbors after a Halloween Party this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, People confirms. Cary Heath then went to class on Monday — teaching a full day — and was arrested afterward as he walked to his car, according to authorities.

A motive in the slayings remains unclear.

The film is written by Tiffany Heath and will be helmed by up-and-coming horror director Edgar Price. The cast includes Denton Blane Everett (Mulberry Stains, Psychic Experiment), Tiffany Heath (The Truth, Mulberry Stains), and Jake Austin (The Taxi, Mulberry Stains).

Mel House (Psychic Experiment, Imago, Place Holders) is on board as associate producer, and Phil Nichols of Facades FX (Renfield the Undead, Boggy Creek 2010, Psychic Experiment) will be handling the special make-up effects.
