Dead Dicks, a light-hearted, metaphysical sci-fi horror film, is a bizarre celebration of death, resurrection and insanity. Think Harold and Maud meets Groundhog Day as directed by Alain Resnais (Last Year at Marienbad). Richie is a suicidal young man who, every time he kills himself, finds himself very much alive but with a dead body of him in his apartment. His sister comes to the rescue, but as the bodies pile up, the pair think that a vagina-like opening in Richie’s bedroom might hold the answer.

Genre specialist Devilworks has sealed multiple deals on Canadian title Dead Dicks, which won the audience award for best Canadian feature at last year’s Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.

The film has sold to the UK and Ireland (101 Films); Benelux (TakeOne Films); Russia (Kinologistika); Korea (Doki Entertainment); and Taiwan (MovieCloud).

Lionsgate’s feel-good drama Military Wives is the latest feature to break the traditional theatrical window due to the ongoing closure of cinemas. The film will arrive on premium VOD in the UK on March 27. It was released theatrically on March 6, grossing close to $3M before cinemas were shuttered last week. The Slamdance Film Festival announced today their narrative and documentary feature film competition for its 24th Festival edition, taking place January 19-25, 2018 in Park City. Established in 1995 by a group of filmmakers whose work had been rejected by the Sundance Film Festival, Slamdance is dedicated to fostering a community for independent emerging artists, fashioning itself “the premiere film festival by filmmakers, for filmmakers.”

The feature competition includes 16 premieres, mostly produced in the U.S. All competition films are feature length directorial debuts with budgets of less than $1 million Usd, and without Us distribution. In addition, the festival announced a new partnership with alumni Anthony and Joe Russo (“Captain America: Civil War,” and “Avengers: Infinity War”) to establish the inaugural Russo Fellowship award. Every participating filmmaker will be eligible for a $25,000 cash prize and mentorship from the Russos in the development of the winner’s next project at the brothers’ Los Angeles studio.

Twenty-year-old Trevor Stevens is currently in production on his first feature film for digital studio Supergravity Pictures. And while that film, titled Rock Steady Row -- about a college freshman who must take action against fellow students and school authorities after his bike is stolen -- is nearly complete, Stevens has released yet another short film.

Titled Fallout: Growing Pains, the fan film pays tribute to the series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games. And Stevens worked with many of the same cast and crew on both Rock Steady and Growing Pains -- thus providing a potential glimpse at what’s in store. For instance, the actor Heston Horwin stars in both films, while Nico Aguilar serves as cinematographer and Jordan Allen is heading up visual effects.
