Searchlight is jumping into the mix on Aug. 29 with their Jay Roach-directed comedy The Roses starring Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg, Oscar winner Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, Belinda Bromilow and Kate McKinnon.
In the screenplay from 2x Oscar nominee Tony McNamara, life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing – as Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites.
The Roses is inspired by the 1989 Danny DeVito-directed, Michael Leeson-scripted movie The War of the Roses starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, based on the novel by Warren Adler.

After years without a distributor, Peter Dinklage’s Toxic Avenger is finally coming out. And what’s more, we have a trailer to enjoy.
After a couple of years of uncertainty, Macon Blair’s adaptation of The Toxic Avenger is finally headed towards general release. Whilst the film did make a brief appearance back in 2023 with a teaser trailer, but the film is reportedly very violent – so violent in fact that it struggled to find a US distributor in 2023. We got a brief teaser for the film, and since then, nothing.
However, Blair is a talented director having helmed the Netflix thriller I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore to very positive notices. Likewise, the film’s star Peter Dinklage has raised the quality bar on many a project too, so hopes were always high that eventually somebody would swoop in to pick up the film for distribution...

At the start of the year, it was announced that Cineverse had acquired the distribution rights with the intention of giving the film an unrated wide release, and we’ve since learned that they’re aiming for an August 29th theatrical release. The first teaser trailer for the superhero dark comedy splatter The Toxic Avengerhas been unveiled. Starring Peter Dinklage as the titular character, the upcoming Toxic Avenger reboot adapts Troma Entertainment's original 1984 movie with a meek janitor, renamed Winston, who transforms into a deformed yet powerful vigilante. The film first screened at Fantastic Fest in September 2023 and will now see a broader theatrical release on August 29.
Troma Entertainment has released the first trailer for Toxic Avenger, beginning as an advertisement for an offbeat burger joint before Winston emerges to deliver blood-filled justice. The trailer appears to embrace its B-movie roots, combining outrageous violence, a highly suggestive burger tower, and a campy, radioactive aesthetic reminiscent of the original cult classic. "Just dome dude with a mop!" Cineverse has unveiled a fresh 2025 teaser for the highly anticipated horror remake of The Toxic Avenger, finally set to hit theaters this August. Many of you will recall hearing about this before - we posted a teaser back in 2023 when it premiered at Fantastic Fest & Beyond Fest that year. It has been in release limbo ever since, apparently "unreleasable" due to its gore & graphic content. But after a two year wait - it's time to unleash Toxie on all the haters out there! The original The Toxic Avenger from 1984 is a Lloyd Kaufman / Troma horror cult classic, introducing the world to one of the most iconic mutant heroes "Toxie". Many sequels were made, and spin-offs, but now Troma has teamed up with Legendary for a brand new take. Macon Blair's The Toxic Avenger follows struggling everyman-janitor Winston Gooze (starring Peter Dinklage), who is...

The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger has arrived and it's violent, weird, and unhinged...which we're guessing is pretty much everything you'd want from a movie featuring the beloved Troma Entertainment cult hero.
Despite receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews at film festivals in 2023 (the movie has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes), it's been a battle to get The Toxic Avenger into theaters and, when it is finally released this summer, it will be unrated.
Based on the jaw-dropping gore - that's not hyperbole; someone literally loses their jaw here - it's not exactly hard to see why this movie didn't receive an R or even Nc-17 rating from the MPAA.
"The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd's original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature," director Macon Blair recently said, "with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon's look, while also trying to do something new...

We recently got word that Macon Blair's remake of low-budget Troma classic, The Toxic Avenger, is finally going to hit theaters later this year, and we now have a first official poster for the movie (via AVClub.com).
The Toxic Avenger actually debuted its first trailer back in October of 2023 before completely dropping off the radar. Fans have been wondering about the status of the movie ever since, and earlier this year, a report claimed that the gory splatter-fest - which has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes - had been deemed "unreleasable" and "not safe enough to market."
Well, one distributor was willing to take a chance on Toxie, as Cinerverse and Bloody Disgusting recently announced that the movie will get a theatrical release at some point in 2025 (an exact date has not been disclosed).
Though EW recently unveiled our first look at Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage...

The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger remake was dropped way back in October 2023. Few updates followed that sneak peek, though reviews from various film festivals were largely positive.
Last year, we heard that director Macon Blair's movie - starring Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as the character - had been deemed "unreleasable." Things looked bleak, only for it to have since been revealed that an unrated cut will hit theaters later this year.
Entertainment Weekly (via FearHQ.com) has confirmed it's coming on August 29 and we also have a first look at the movie's titular Toxic Avenger. That's not Dinklage, though, as Luisa Guerreiro - an actor and movement artist - donned the extensive makeup and prosthetics for Toxie's physical performance.
Regardless, it's quite the transformation and Blair tells the site, "The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd's original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature,...

While Stephen King is rightfully known as the Master of Horror, the prolific novelist could just as easily be called the Master of Feels. After all, without King, there is no Stand By Me, no The Shawshank Redemption, no The Green Mile. It makes sense then that Mike Flanagan, whose propensity for combining horror and heartfelt storytelling has made the likes of Midnight Mass and The Haunting Of Hill House unmissable, has proven one of King's best adapters. And having done both Doctor Sleep and Gerald's Game great justice on screen already, Flanagan's latest King movie, Tom Hiddleston starrer The Life Of Chuck, looks set to be one of his most emotional works yet. And you can catch a glimpse at the film below;
Now we know what you're thinking, "This teaser trailer is all tease and no trailer, man!" And you would, largely, be right. But this peek at...

Mike Flanagan dives into another Stephen King story with The Life of Chuck. However, unlike Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, The Life of Chuck is life-affirming rather than horrifying. The teaser trailer focuses on Tom Hiddleston as the titular character. The only words spoken are, “The universe is large, and it contains multitudes, but it also contains me.”
In addition to Tom Hiddleston, the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, and Jacob Tremblay. David Dastmalchian, Matthew Lillard, Annalise Basso, Benjamin Pajak, Nick Offerman, Mia Sara, Carl Lumbly, Samantha Sloyan, Harvey Guillen, and Kate Siegel also star.

Neon picked up the film after its Toronto International Film Festival premiere, where it went on to win the festival’s People’s Choice Award.

This was a big at last year's Toronto Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Audience Award at the end of the fest. TIFF sets it up: "With The Life of Chuck, Mike Flanagan takes a detour from the macabre to explore one of Stephen King's alternate sensibilities in an adaptation that carries the spirit of his most optimistic work. The world feels like it’s ending and everybody’s saying goodbye to Chuck." Fans have been waiting a long time to see writer/director Macon Blair’s remake of the Troma cult classic The Toxic Avenger (watch it Here), which wrapped filming way back in 2021 and unveiled a teaser trailer near the end of 2023, around the time it had its world premiere screening. The film would go into a bit of purgatory, but the Toxic Avenger remake will finally be reaching theatres on August 29, kicking off Labor Day weekend! Now, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, you can get a good look at Toxie and his updated look.
Blair’s version of The Toxic Avenger stars Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze, a stereotypical weakling who works as a janitor at Garb-x health club and is diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment that his greedy, power hungry employer refuses to pay for. Troma’s beloved hero The Toxic Avenger returns to the big screen with a brand new reboot of the classic movie from director Macon Blair, with Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting unleashing The Toxic Avenger in wide theatrical release – fully Unrated – on August 29!
Peter Dinklage takes over the iconic role of The Toxic Avenger in the movie, and our friends over at Entertainment Weekly shared two first-look images of the new Toxie this morning.
Macon Blair tells EW of the new design, “The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd [Kaufman’s] original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature, with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon’s look, while also trying to do something new and weird and lovable with Toxie’s design. I love what Millennium FX did with it — part human, part mutant, all heart.”

Mike Flanagan has directed a small handful of Stephen King adaptations up this point including Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, but his next King adaptation is going to offer up something a little bit different. Because The Life of Chuck isn’t a horror movie, and that’s made clear by the brand new official trailer that Neon has released this afternoon.
Neon will release the Flanagan + King collaboration in theaters on June 6, 2025.
Based on Stephen King‘s novella from his 2020 collection If It Bleeds, the upcoming genre-bending movie is written and directed by modern master of horror Mike Flanagan.
The life-affirming story explores three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz.
Neon previews, “The film takes on a surrealist and existential tone, telling a genre-bending story that detours from the macabre you’d typically expect from both King and Flanagan’s past works. This...

For the third time in eight years, director Mike Flanagan is adapting Stephen King’s work as a feature film. Flanagan’s first two collaborations with King — Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep — were both horror stories. But The Life of Chuck is something else altogether. The newly released teaser trailer lightly acknowledges that it isn’t a scary story by citing some of King’s previous forays outside of horror, including Stand by Me, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile. What it doesn’t answer is the question hanging over the film: Who is Chuck?
Tom Hiddleston plays Chuck as an adult, while Jacob Tremblay and Benjamin Pajak portray younger versions. There is an ominous quality to the trailer, which unfolds to the rhythm of a ticking of a clock. According to the film’s description, “images of a modest accountant named Chuck inexplicably appear everywhere” just as the...

Following the film winning the TIFF People’s Choice Award last fall, audiences are getting their first official look at Mike Flanagan’s life-affirming flick “The Life of Chuck.”
Flanagan trades the usual scares of “Doctor Sleep” and “The Haunting of Hill House” for a story about life and what it means to move forward when all hope is lost. Adapted from Stephen King’s novella, “The Life of Chuck” is split into three distinct parts and told in reverse order, following the mysterious life of seemingly ordinary accountant Chuck Krantz (Tom Hiddleston). The cast also includes Jacob Tremblay, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Lillard, Karen Gillan and Mia Sara, with Nick Offerman narrating.
“The universe is large and it contains multitudes, but it also contains me,” Chuck says in the teaser as he stands on the street in his suit.

Tom Hiddleston plays mild-mannered Charles “Chuck” Krantz, whose death coincides with the end of the world, in the trailer for Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, which dropped on Thursday.
The teaser early on shows the back of Hiddleston’s head as he plays the titular character of Chuck and walks down a suburban mall promenade. Then, now in a suit and spectacles, we finally see Hiddleston’s face as he nervously stares into the far distance.
“The universe is large, and it contains multitudes, but… it also contains me,” Chuck says in a voice-over to underline the movie’s message about embracing joy in the face of tragedy. The genre-tripping trailer for horror hitmaker Flanagan’s doomsday drama only hints at the end of Chuck’s life with early snippets of an Ecg heart line and a ticking clock.

The new images for The Toxic Avengergive a closer look at Peter Dinklage's hero character. The Toxic Avenger is a remake of the classic 1984 film of the same name. The new version of the horror comedy features a star-studded leading cast including Dinklage, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon, and Taylour Paige. The movie initially premiered at Fantastic Fest in September 2023 but now has distribution for this summer, opening on August 29.

The Toxic Avenger is finally set to hit theaters later this year, and what better way to celebrate the occasion than to unveil the first look at Peter Dinklage as the titular mutant superhero. After premiering at Fantastic Fest in 2023, the latest entry in The Toxic Avenger franchise became a major topic of discussion due to being shelved indefinitely due to its unrated nature. Fortunately, not only will fans be able to see it in theaters, but it will also be the most unfiltered version of the filmmaker's vision, and the results already look worthwhile.
Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, The Toxic Avenger has unveiled several new images from the long-awaited reboot featuring Dinklage as Toxie. It seems like the film decided to use a completely practical look for the hero, and while Dinklage is completely unrecognizable, it's hard to argue that Toxie has ever looked better on screen. The following contains spoilers for Invincible season 3, episode 6, "All I Can Say Is I'm Sorry," now streaming on Prime Video.
The latest Invincible episode forces Mark Grayson to confront his past failures but doesn't offer forgiveness.
Speaking to Den of Geek, series creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman discussed adapting the comic's Powerplex storyline and how this villain's agenda reframes Invincible's harrowing season 1 finale in a new light. Jokingly labeling Powerplex (voiced by Aaron Paul) as an "A-Minus" type villain, Kirkman nonetheless felt he "had a point" about the civilian deaths caused by Invincible and Omni-Man's battle and how superhero accountability is treated differently from other humans.

Years before social media had this much power over society, Gossip Girl had already warned us about the dangers of it, even though the characters in the series were not really paying attention. This teen drama show based on the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, adapted by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, aired from 2007 to 2012 on The CW network. It follows the exclusive and drama-filled lives of the Upper East Side's high-class teens, who happen to be closely scrutinized by Gossip Girl, an anonymous blogger that thrives on chit-chat and seems to know everything.
The show is a clear demonstration of the influence that social media has if it is not properly managed, going so far as to run people's lives. Even though Manhattan teenagers knew how unhealthy this blog was and all the effects it had on people and relationships, they kept on reading it, effectively expanding its audience day by day.

A Predator movie directed by Shane Black, written by him and the director of The Monster Squad.
