Amazon representatives declined to comment for the story.

The new season is believed to be set at a corporate retreat instead of a courtroom, according to a report from Variety. Filming took place in Los Angeles and Deadline reported the story will center around a David vs. Goliath theme.

“Jury Duty” was created by Lee Eisenberg, and Gene Stupnitsky. Season 1 followed breakout star Ronald Gladden in a documentary-style journey following his time as a juror, until it is revealed that the proceedings were fake from the start.

There will be more “St. Denis Medical” on NBC.

The network renewed the hospital-set mockumentary series for Season 2, NBC announced Tuesday. The news comes just two months after “St. Denis Medical” premiered as part of the network’s fall slate in November. The series is set to return with new episodes Tuesday.

Since its November premiere, “St. Denis Medical” has reached 21.4 million total viewers for the season to date across all platforms. It also ranks as NBC’s No. 1 new show of the 2024-25 season in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live-plus-seven-day viewing figures.

Set at an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital, “St. Denis Medical” follows a group of dedicated doctors and nurses trying their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity, per the official logline.

NBC has renewed the hospital-set sitcom for a second season before the end of its first season run. The show is one of NBC’s most-watched programs of the 2024-2025 season, with 21.4 million total viewers to date.

Starring Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper and Kaliko Kauahi, “St. Denis Medical” is a mockumentary set at an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital. In a format similar to “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Abbott Elementary,” the series follows dedicated doctors and nurses as they balance treating patients with maintaining their own sanity.

“St. Denis Medical” is up for two Critics Choice Awards, for best comedy series and best actor in a comedy series for Grier, who is also nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

The series is executive produced and written by showrunner Eric Ledgin and Justin Spitzer.

The doctors and nurses of St. Denis Medical will remain on call at NBC.

The network has ordered a second season of the comedy series, a mockumentary following the overworked staff at an underfunded hospital in Oregon. The renewal comes as the show is set to return from hiatus Tuesday night for the second half of its season.

St. Denis Medical is the first of NBC’s rookie series to earn a renewal for the 2025-26 season. The episode, titled "50 cc's of Kindness," is set to air on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 8 p.m. on NBC. In the sneak peek clip, Joyce (Wendi McLendon-Covey), Ron (David Alan Grier), and Alex (Allison Toman) attempt to take control with treating two prisoners who've been rushed in after an apparently violent incident took place at the prison. Among the bunch is Bruce, a talented trauma surgeon whose lack of awareness often makes him appear harsh. Josh Lawson (Superstore), who plays the character, admits that his attitude does put him at risk of being too mean. It was important to the actor to make it known that Bruce never intends to hurt others, as his actions come from a place of ignorance rather than cruelty.

For nine seasons and 182 episodes, Scrubs, combined both drama and comedy, chronicling the lives of the doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital. Now, per Variety, Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is developing a reboot of the fan-favorite show which ran from 2001 to 2010.

Lawrence is reportedly creating a new version of the series for ABC via 20th Television. The original Scrubs was produced by ABC Studios, which recently became a part of 20th Television as part of the restructuring by its parent company, Disney. While Lawrence is under contract with Warner Bros. Television, the studio is set to give room for Lawrence to work with his former partners on Scrubs.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Lawrence is not going to serve as the showrunner on the new project if it gets greenlit to series. As of now, no other deals have been worked out nor have any actors been cast for the reboot.

Although St. Denis Medical is off to a great start, one can't help but notice one thing missing from its plot, and it's a detail that Superstore used to its full advantage. NBC's 2024 mockumentary sitcom follows the lives of an eccentric group of doctors and nurses working at St. Denis Medical Center. Given its talented cast and reliable premise, it's no wonder why St. Denis Medical has been a hit with critics and audiences alike. However, after only five episodes, the new show has failed to establish one important storyline that made Superstore as beloved as it was.

Superstore, which has been off the air for more than three years, is sorely missed, but the good news is that NBC released the show's best replacement series in the fall of 2024. The original sitcom premiered in November 2015 and was beloved by many, as proven by its impressive run on NBC and 93 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. Superstore ultimately produced six seasons and 113 episodes before it came to an end in March 2021. While it would be difficult for any TV show to follow in Superstore's footsteps, one 2024 workplace comedy has the chops to do so.

A few months before the Superstore series finale, a spinoff, Bo & Cheyenne, was said to be in the early stages of development at NBC. As the title suggests, it would have featured Johnny Pemberton and Nichole Sakura reprising their Superstore roles as Bo and Cheyenne, respectively. However, NBC later decided not to go forward with the spinoff.

In the third act of “St. Denis Medical’s” fourth episode, “Salamat You Too,” a group of nurses are on break when the head nurse, Alex (Allison Tolman), interrupts to gently reprimand their previous insubordination. Earlier, the self-identified “Filipino Mafia” didn’t like when Alex split up their “clique,” so they simply ignored her orders and stuck together. Then, in an effort to reestablish her authority, Alex walks to the dry-erase board and tries to remind her colleagues that she’s the boss — a simple declaration that nevertheless requires a six-part written breakdown (including one particularly abstract acronym).

Alex is the focal point of the scene. She’s leading the meeting — issuing directives, speaking emphatically, gesticulating wildly — and Tolman’s ability to channel relatable frustrations through passive aggressive instructions is pretty funny.
