He continued, “I’m kind of in one of the happiest moments of my personal life. I have the healthiest relationship I’ve ever had, and I manage to see my family, see my friends, take care of myself … The victory for me now is actually to make my job and my personal life live together and not constantly fight.

The Powerpuff Girls are making a triumphant return to Cartoon Network more than two decades after their first flight across Townsville. According to ComicBook.com, fans of the iconic trio—Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup—can relive their crime-fighting adventures once again this April as the beloved animated series reclaims a spot on television.

It has been revealed that the show will officially be back on April 12, now part of Cartoon Network’s fresh morning lineup, and they won’t be alone as joining them is another fan-favorite, Steven Universe. The two animated powerhouses will air back-to-back, with Steven Universe kicking things off at 10 am, followed by The Powerpuff Girls at 10.30 am. However, whether the 2016 reboot will also make a reappearance remains a mystery as of now.

The live-action reimagining of Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls would’ve starred genre legends Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and singer Yana Perrault as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, respectively, in their adult years. Backlash was always inevitable with this project. The central appeal of The Powerpuff Girls was the girls’ cheerful view of a still dangerous world. So, there was a central question to be answered – what are The Powerpuff Girls when they're not girls anymore? In three-plus minutes, the trailer provided some clarification on this, and I can surely say, I would’ve watched the shit out of this show.

It is now almost two years since the plug was pulled on the live-action iteration of the iconic animated series, and while there was outcry from Powerpuff Girls fans everywhere at the time, the only crying going on now is tears of joy that the “god-awful” series never saw the light of day.

Take a trip back to 2020, when the first word of a live-action Powerpuff Girls series was revealed to a reasonable level of excitement. The following year, the lead trio of Chloe Bennett, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault were cast as older versions of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, respectively, and a script by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier was in place for the pilot episode.

Millennials around the world must remember how awesome Powerpuff Girls was. The animated show used to rule kids’ hearts for a healthy part of the early 2000s. While that generation has all grown up, it wouldn’t have come as a shock that the show would have many takers.

A so-called trailer for The CW’s canceled “Powerpuff Girls” live-action show is circulating online — and let’s just say it’s easy to see why this one didn’t make it to air.

Sources from The CW confirmed to Variety that the video does indeed feature footage from the scrapped series. However, an official trailer for the pilot was never actually made. Instead, the video that’s circulating online as its “trailer” appears to be a fan-made collection of several scenes from the project put together, including an alcoholic Bubbles drunkenly burping and Buttercup refusing to wear her green dress because it’s “normative and ass-ugly.”

This too-real show was ordered in 2020. In the live-action series, the citizens of Townsville turn against the crime-fighting trio, causing them to break up. But when darkness returns to their home, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup reunite. The series was written by Heather Regnier...

Once upon a time, The CW was a network that made original programming. It was divisive programming; a lot of people slammed CW shows as treacly, cheap-looking, superficial teenaged nonsense, but hey, teenagers deserve their trash, too.

That ended when The CW was acquired by Nexstar. The great majority of the network's programming was canceled. That included a live-action sequel to The Powerpuff Girls, the beloved Cartoon Network show about three pint-sized superhero sisters who defended Townsville from all manner of evil. The live-action show would pick with the girls years after they'd split apart and grown up to be maladjusted young adults. It was going to star Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, Yana Perrault as Buttercup and Scrubs alum Donald Faison as Professor Utonium, the girls' father/creator.

Now, unexpectedly, the trailer for the show that never was has popped up online. You can watch it above!

In 2021, The CW ordered and shot a live-action “Powerpuff Girls” pilot starring Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, Yana Perrault and Donald Faison, only for the series to be canceled and never see the light of day — until now.

Footage from the canceled series has been leaked onto YouTube and made into a trailer. Sources at CW confirmed to Variety that the footage is real, but a final trailer was never assembled before “Powerpuff Girls” was axed. At the time of the cancellation, CW may have been putting together a trailer for upfronts, but sources say the leaked footage would not have passed CW standards. The network sometimes used outside vendors to assemble trailers, so the leak could have been a rejected trailer from a third party. It may also have been a Warner Bros. TV trailer created for L.A. screenings or San Diego Comic Con.

Nevertheless, the leaked footage spread on social media Thursday.

For better or for worse, The CW's live-action Powerpuff Girls was put out to pasture before the show ever made it to the air. It came pretty close, however, to the point where a trailer was made for the ill-fated series.

On Reddit, the newly-revealed trailer was shared, revealing over three and a half minutes of footage from the Powerpuff Girls reboot. The trailer showcases how the live-action adaptation would have adapted some of the whimsical elements of the cartoon series, reimagining the group as they would appear as young adults in the real world. It's a zany concept, which might have been the idea, though it could be even more insane than some fans would expect. The trailer can be watched below.

The network's approach to the material raised eyebrows from the start, largely because each member of the iconic trio was set to be portrayed by, and as, adults. Still, Diablo Cody and Heather Regnie's role in developing the project felt like a step in the right direction, as did the fact Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Chloe Bennet was tapped to play Blossom.

Dove Cameron was chosen as Bubbles, with Yana Perrault picked to bring Buttercup to life on screen. Scrubs alum Donald Faison, meanwhile, was cast as Professor Utonium.

After being shot, the pilot was revealed to have fallen flat, with The CW's former Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz admitting the whole thing was a "miss.

A live-action series based on The Powerpuff Girls was in development at The CW back in 2020. The show was meant to depict Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as “disillusioned twentysomethings,” dealing with the consequences of their childhoods spent fighting crime. The show would have shown the girls reuniting when the world needed them most.

The series was being produced by Warner Bros. Television Studios, with Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody writing the script. The pilot was officially ordered in February 2021, with Maggie Kiley set to direct.

The cast included Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. Donald Faison was cast as Professor Utonium, and Tom Kenny was returning as the narrator from the original cartoon.

The two Oscar-nominated actress stepped out for Women in Film’s 2025 Oscar Nominees Celebration on Friday evening (February 28) held at Wheelhouse in West Hollywood, Calif.

If you didn’t know, Cynthia, 38, is nominated for Best Actress for Wicked while Monica, 34, is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for A Complete Unknown.

Fellow Oscar nominees included songwriter Diane Warren, The Substance director Coralie Fargeat, The Brutalist screenwriter Mona Fastvold, and Anora producer Samantha Quan.

For Ant,. Robin Thicke got it right with O’Day. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg went with Evan Rachel Wood. Rita Ora named Charli xcx. Ken Jeong named Mel B from the Spice Girls.

O’Day sang “Fever,” by Peggy Lee, for her regular performance. Later, Paparazzo became the first celebrity to move on to the “Lucky 6” finalists, while Ant and Coral battled it out for Group A’s other slot in a battle royale. Dove Cameron is back with new music!

The 29-year-old singer has dropped her new song “Too Much” and she opened up about the meaning of the song as well.

This is Dove‘s first music release since her album Alchemical: Volume 1 in December 2023.

“I wrote this song based on a lifelong experience of feeling like I was ‘too much’ wherever I went. I also wrote it for anyone who has ever been told to take up less space or dim their light for the comfort of others,” Dove began in a statement provided to JustJared.com.

Cynthia Erivo can relate to “Elvis” actor Austin Butler and “Armand” actress Renate Reinsve: It turns out throwing yourself fully into a performance could leave you bed-ridden.

Erivo said during the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that even just auditioning for musical adaptation “Wicked” left her ill. The audition was three hours long, and Tony winner Erivo had to recoup after it.

“Oh, I was very ill by the end of it,” Erivo said. “I was in bed for the next week, for like four days, with 104 fever.”

The Amazon series based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s bestselling novel “56 Days” has added four new cast members, Variety has learned exclusively.

Kingston Rumi Southwick, Ella Victoria, Megan Peta Hill, and Alfredo Narciso have all joined the series, which is now titled “Obsession.” Exact character details are being kept under wraps, but Hill and Narciso will appear in recurring guest star roles while Victoria and Southwick will be guest stars.
