The first look at Prime Video's outlandish crime-comedy caper Deep Cover sees Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed swap the stage for the streets as the three improv comedians turn their hand to spy work, only to discover that it's no laughing matter. The images, which come courtesy of Empire Magazine, offer a closer look at the three central characters who must adapt to their new roles undercover after a life spent in the spotlight. One photo shows Howard midway through a performance, while the other two snaps show the trio in slightly less glitzy surroundings.

There are key skills to improv comedy. You have to fly by the seat of your pants, react in the moment, stay present, and remain in character, no matter what scenario is thrown at you. Those same rules apply to the remit of an undercover cop. Enter Deep Cover, an upcoming crime comedy in which three improv comedians are recruited by the police as undercover operatives. It was a project’ yes, and’-ed into existence by an unlikely crew of collaborators – an idea originated by Colin ‘Jurassic World’ Trevorrow, penned by British comedy duo The Pin (aka Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen), and directed by Stath Lets Flats’ Tom Kingsley. And it boasts major star power, with its central comedians played by Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed.

Comedian Harry Deansway has lost his case against Steve Coogan’s production company Baby Cow over a sitcom he claimed infringed his copyright.
A judge in London’s High Court has ruled that Baby Cow series “Live at the Moth Club,” which ran for one season on UKTV in 2022, wasn’t a copy of Deansway’s 2013 YouTube series “Shambles.”
A two-day civil trial was held in November 2024, with comedians including “The Windsors” star Ellie White and “Jurassic World Dominion” duo Alexander Owen and Ben Ashenden, who contributed to “Live at the Moth Club,” testifying on behalf of Baby Cow. The trio said any coincidences between the two shows, which both blended stand-up sets with sitcom tropes, were a coincidence.
High Court Recorder Amanda Michaels ultimately agreed with that assessment.

Comedians in Court as U.K. Trial Kicks Off Over Sitcom ‘Copied’ by Steve Coogan’s Production Company

London’s High Court could have been mistaken for the Comedy Store on Monday after a stellar line-up of entertainers took to the witness stand to testify in a case over a “copied” sitcom.
Comedian Harry Deansway, who filed the lawsuit under his legal name Joshua Rinkoff, has accused Steve Coogan’s production company Baby Cow of copying his 2013 YouTube series “Shambles,” which blended sitcom and stand-up.
Coogan, who co-founded Baby Cow alongside producer Henry Normal in 1998 before selling the majority shareholding to BBC Studios, is not named in the suit and there is no suggestion he was involved in the alleged copycat series, titled “Live at the Moth Club.” Day to day operations at the prodco are managed by CEO Sarah Monteith while Coogan remains a shareholder and creative director.

If you wondered what Colin Trevorrow was doing post his Jurassic trilogy, the answer probably isn’t what you expected. His next project is a script he’s penned with World collaborator Derek Connolly, plus British comedy duo The Pin, aka Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen (who made brief appearances in Jurassic World Dominion) – a starry comedy titled Deep Cover. And as far as it looks, there isn’t a dinosaur in sight.
The film revolves around a trio of improv actors who take part in police stings, catching out unaware criminals – but soon they get sucked into London’s criminal underworld thanks to the power of pure persuasion. Those three yes-anders will be played by Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed – and they’ll be joined in the cast by Sean Bean, Ian McShane, Paddy Considine, and Sonoya Mizuno. That’s a seriously stacked cast.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the BBC sitcom Ghosts
One of the best things about BBC sitcom Ghosts is the way the cast welcomes viewers into its heartwarming friendship circle, and makes us feel like one of the gang. They might be one of the tightest ensembles in the business, but there’s a definite generosity of spirit (pun intended) in Ghosts, and a “the more the merrier” vibe.
Perhaps this is why there’ve been so many memorable guest stars. The show easily attracts superstar-level names as well as giving a well-earned platform to some of the UK’s rising comedy stars. While we eagerly await Ghosts fifth – and sadly final – series, let’s remind ourselves of some of the show’s best guest appearances:
Jennifer Saunders

Think about it: when did you last see a great British romcom? Can you even remember the last time anyone achieved that perfect alchemy between wistful longing, self-deprecating humour and characters who live in incredibly nice houses? There’s been endless fretting about whether the genre can adapt to a more inclusive, feminist age – but with the big-hearted What’s Love Got to Do With It?, we can call off the search party. The first feature film written by Jemima Khan is a charming cross-cultural comedy that can be ranked alongside British classics like Bend It Like Beckham, and has the confidence of a Richard Curtis classic.

If 1899’s creators had been specifically instructed to make a TV series that’s impossible to watch while scrolling on your phone, they couldn’t have done a better job. Viewers not fluent in German, Spanish, French, Swedish, Polish, English and more will need their reading glasses handy.
