The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently taking us towards the culmination of the Multiverse Saga. It's not going to do that this year or the next year, but the studio is in the process of planning out the final chapters of the story that it is telling within the MCU. Due to that, and the fact that the franchise is staging a bit of a comeback after a lacklustre 2023, fans are particularly excited about the recent titles that have been released and the ones that are on the horizon.
It's safe to say that films such as Deadpool and Wolverine and shows such as Agatha All Along have reinvigorated interest in the MCU as it heads towards those all-important final chapters of the Multiverse Saga, including Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. And you know that Marvel is pulling out all the stops to ensure that those movies deliver, bringing...

Disney+’s Agatha All Along ended on a major cliffhanger, and as intense as the previous episodes have been, it was also an emotional ride for the characters. Joe Locke, who played Billy Maximoff slash William Kaplan, confessed that the scene where he was trying to find a body for his brother, Tommy, was difficult to film.

Fans would recall at the end of WandaVision that the Maximoff brothers were still together when Wanda released Westview and let her family go. Her children, as well as Vision, vanished with the hex that she created around their town.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is back. There were some ups and downs along the way, but the studio has successfully reversed some of the issues with its Multiverse Saga and turned it back into must-see entertainment. That applies to both the big screen and the small screen, with its monumental cinematic showdown Deadpool and Wolverine scoring rave reviews and a $1.3 billion box office performance and its most recent Disney Plus series Agatha All Along also scoring strong viewing figures and a warm, positive reception from fans.
With two multiverse-changing Avengers movies on the horizon, that's a good thing. With excitement and good word-of-mouth back on its side, the studio is beginning to lay the foundations for how this saga will come full-circle, and it has some heavy-hitters on the horizon to do that in, including Captain America: Brave New World and Spider-Man 4.
And speaking of laying the groundwork, there...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.
I reckon adapting Tommy Maximoff's new origin story for the MCU after Agatha All Along teased his return would be the perfect story for Marvel Studios' speculated Young Avengers project. Three years after 2021's WandaVision ended with the apparent deaths of Wanda Maximoff and Vision's magically-created twins, Billy and Tommy, I was thrilled to see the former make his triumphant return to the MCU. Agatha All Along episode 6 confirmed that Joe Locke's "Teen" is in fact Billy Maximoff's soul in the body of William Kaplan, which made me hopeful that his brother would also return.
Billy and Tommy Maximoff were previously portrayed by Julian Hilliard and Jett Klyne, respectively, in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, inspired by their Marvel Comics stories, which detailed a convoluted story of the twins being reincarnated in the forms...

The world premiere of Shaman, the new horror-thriller from director Antonio Negret, is set for October 25 at the 2024 Austin Film Festival. Starring Sara Canning, Daniel Gillies, Jett Klyne, and Humberto Morales, this chilling film explores the collision between faith, culture, and an ancient evil that tests the limits of human belief. The film, which runs for 94 minutes and is set in the remote Ecuadorian Andes, offers a deeply personal and atmospheric take on horror, with the added weight of its director’s own experiences growing up in Latin America.
At its core, Shaman tells the story of Candice, a devout Catholic missionary living with her husband Joel and teenage son Elliot, as they work to convert an Indigenous community in the shadow of the Chimborazo volcano. Their efforts are met with resistance, particularly from the local Shaman, whose deep-rooted spiritual beliefs clash with the family’s religious mission. However, when Elliot falls gravely ill,...

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Episode 6 of Agatha All Along.
The newest episode of Agatha All Along finally delved into the backstory of William Kaplan/Billy Maximoff. Audiences learned that Billy's spirit claimed the body of William Kaplan after a deadly car accident, and he has been trying to understand what happened and who he is ever since.
One of the biggest reveals was that Billy was traveling the Witches' Road in search of his twin brother, Tommy. This has already caused a massive backlash from the fandom, many of whom suspected that the journey was going to end in the resurrection of Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch. I also thought this was likely, not even including Tommy on a list of Wandavision characters to bring back for the new show.
However, that does not mean that this direction is a mistake. There are many reasons for Billy to search for his brother first,...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 6, "Familiar By Thy Side."
Three years after his departure from the MCU, Billy Maximoff has returned in Agatha All Along, but the Scarlet Witch's other son, Tommy Maximoff, is still nowhere to be seen. Wanda Maximoff and Vision's powerful sons were first seen in WandaVision episode 3, "Now in Color," and had the chance to show off some of their impressive gifts during the Phase 4 series. Since they were magically connected to the Hex, however, the twins disappeared when the Westview Anomaly was dismantled, leaving the MCU futures of Wiccan and Speed uncertain.
In WandaVision, Tommy Maximoff was portrayed by Gavin Borders as a five-year-old and Jett Klyne at ten, opposite Baylen Bielitz and Julian Hilliard's Billy Maximoff. Klyne reprised the role alongside Hilliard in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as variants on Earth-838, but the...

This article contains Major Spoilers for Agatha All Along Episode 5, "Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power."
Teen's real identity might have been telegraphed, but Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer understood the importance of that reveal's execution.
"You can do the most unsurprising thing in the most surprising way, and that's how you hook an audience," Schaeffer told Entertainment Weekly following Agatha's fifth episode reveal that Joe Locke is playing an older Billy Kaplan/Maximoff. Upon confronting Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) over the death of a fellow coven member, the witch describes "Teen" as "so much like your mother," causing him to blast Agatha and her remaining companions into the Witches' Road's mud traps. This, Schaeffer added, changes their power dynamic, since Agatha "starts with Billy being very much the familiar, the secondary to all the witches. Now we know he is also a witch, and that changes things. Also, we now...

The witches have taken over the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Agatha All Along has been entertaining fans of the franchise throughout spooky season, with Kathryn Hahn's infamously antagonistic witch seeking to reclaim the power that was once hers. But she hasn't been alone, as she and the mysterious Teen have put together a coven to walk the Witches' Road. It's a treacherous walk that very well could take the coven's lives, but if they make it to the end, they can get the one thing they desire the most.
The Disney Plus series is a spinoff of original MCU show WandaVision (which also starred Hahn as Agatha / Agnes) and it looks to further the overall story of the Multiverse Saga. Fans are convinced that Teen's identity will help it do just that. Something else that fans have helped the show do is enjoy an immense amount of success. And it...

Based on the harrowing real-life experiences of Maxwell Smart, The Boy in the Woods recounts twelve-year-old Max’s battle for survival during World War II. Set in 1942, the film finds Max living in occupied Poland when he becomes separated from his mother and sister. Facing imminent capture by Nazi forces, Max manages to escape into the dense forests near his hometown.
It is in these formidable woods that Max begins a solitary fight to evade the ruthless occupiers. Directed by Rebecca Snow in her narrative debut, the movie paints a vivid yet respectful picture of Max’s grueling journey. Drawing from Maxwell Smart’s own memoir, Snow crafts a deeply moving tale of courage against all odds. Through Max’s ordeal, we witness both the tragic realities of life under Nazi rule as well as the enduring strength of the human spirit.
Snow guides viewers through the film with a blend of empathy and care.

The McU's new Avengers team avoids issues with older heroes' disjointed presence. Young Avengers have fewer on-screen hours for viewers to catch up. Young Avengers' appeal mirrors the early MCU, offering a fresh start.
One of the biggest positives about the Avengers being replaced in the MCU is that the new team will avoid a big issue with the originals. Avengers: Endgame was the last time that any version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes teamed up against a common threat, which was released more than five years ago. This may have had a negative impact on the wider MCU as its composite characters feel more disparate than ever in the lead-up to what will presumably be their first outing in the Multiverse Saga: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

To celebrate the release of his new film, The Boy In The Woods, we had the pleasure of chatting to actor Richard Armitage about his powerful new film, and his hit show Red Eye, for which the finale aired this past weekend.
The Boy in the Woods is a Canadian drama film, directed by Rebecca Snow and released in 2023. Based on the memoir of the same name by Maxwell Smart, the film dramatizes Smart’s childhood experience of having to fend for himself in the forests of Poland during World War II.

True story of Jewish boy in flight from the Nazis and hiding in the forest is told here with a fair amount of sentiment
This sweet if somewhat sentiment-and-string-section-forward Canadian film tells the true story of Max, a Jewish boy aged 12 from Warsaw, trying to evade capture during the second world war. Max’s mother (Berkley Silverman), aware that there’s only a little time left and she and her baby daughter won’t make it, manages to bundle Max off to go stay with a Polish family deep in the forest who will be paid for their troubles. Jasko (Richard Armitage) and Kasia (Masa Lizdek) are basically good souls, but when the authorities start coming round looking for hiding Jews and Max only just manages to convince them he’s Kasia’s little brother, the Polish couple feel they can’t risk endangering their own and their child’s lives for Max.

Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel and Hailee Steinfeld as Hawkeye avoid aging-out their characters, ensuring a lasting Young Avengers cast. Vellani and Steinfeld as the Young Avengers' leads won't face comparison issues to Iron Man & Captain America due to how well-received their casting has been in the MCU. Casting Vellani and Steinfeld and utilizing the benefits that come with it as leads of the team reduces pressure on the rest of the Young Avengers cast as Evans and Downey Jr. did with the original Avengers.
The potential Young Avengers movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already avoided several big problems that could have faced its cast. At the end of The Marvels in 2023, the first three members of the Young Avengers' cast were confirmed. Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel sought out Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, with the former telling the latter she is building her own superhero team.

"The Marvels" has finally hit theaters, and across the board, star Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, has received well-deserved praise. One just cannot look at her enthusiasm and joy and not smile. The film may be having a rough time at the box office, but if Vellani is the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that future is bright. In fact, the future of the MCU is something /Film's own Ethan Anderton discussed while chatting with Vellani about "The Marvels."
During their conversation, Anderton asked Vellani about the mid-credits scene where Kamala Khan recreates the very first MCU post-credits scene. You know, the "Iron Man" one where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) recruits Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) for his Avengers Initiative? Not only does Kamala show up at Kate Bishop's (Hailee Steinfeld...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness covered a lot of bases throughout its runtime. Not only did it serve as the first standalone sequel for Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme, but it was also the fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe project to explore the concept of the multiverse following Loki, What If…? and Spider-Man: No Way Home. In addition to dabbling in the superhero and horror genres, thanks to the deft hand of Sam Raimi, Multiverse of Madness transforms into a tragedy where Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) is concerned. Throughout the film, Wanda intends to travel to a universe where her children, Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy (Jett Klyne), are alive. She seeks the multiverse-hopping powers of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) to accomplish her goal, leading to death and destruction on an unimaginable scale as she fully embraces her mantle of the Scarlet Witch.

Fortunetelling is a great trick, but it only works if you know how to cold read -- absorbing everything in front of you and dropping some meaty guesses about what's on others' minds. Figuring out what's next for one of the biggest media franchises in the world is similar. Only President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige (and those under NDAs) know what's next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we can take the hints they're leaving and deliver some fun ideas about what's coming next.
We're about to present twelve educated guesses about the next era of the MCU. Based on what the franchise has already shown us, hints from events like 2022's San Diego Comic-Con, well-sourced filming rumors, and (a lot of) speculation drawn from Marvel's extensive comic book history, we predict what's next for Marvel Studios. We're barely scratching the surface of possible storylines with Kang the Conquerer's rise to power,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four has included box office blockbusters like the billion-dollar-grossing “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (942 million worldwide and counting), plus the MCU’s first foray into television with hits like “WandaVision” and “Loki.” But what Phase Four has lacked for a majority of MCU fans is a sense of narrative drive and cohesion. As Variety‘s Adam B. Vary wrote last month, “Instead of the incremental escalation of the Infinity Saga, there is no sense yet of where Phase Four is heading — if, indeed, it is heading in any single direction.”
As of now, the MCU has a handful of dangling cliffhangers that don’t appear to have any connection to one another and that don’t appear to be building toward a franchise-uniting endgame: There’s Doctor Strange teaming up with Clea to fix an incursion in the multiverse,...

There’s no rest for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just one month after the conclusion of the Oscar Isaac-led “Moon Knight” and a month before “Thor: Love and Thunder” is slated to hit theaters, the newest series in the interconnected franchise is set to make its Disney+ debut.
Premiering Wednesday, June 8, “Ms. Marvel” stars newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen from Jersey City who lives and breathes everything Avengers. A megafan of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) who spends what some might say is too much time in a fantasy world of her own creation, Kamala, the MCU’s first Muslim superhero, sees her life changed forever once she discovers she has powers of her own. This shocking discovery, of which only her best friend Bruno (Matt Lintz) is aware, thrusts Kamala into a spotlight she’s not quite ready for, especially since she’s already living...

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points of Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” currently in theaters. Do not read until you’ve seen the movie.
Practically from the moment that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige announced that Elizabeth Olsen would star in the Disney+ series “WandaVision,” he also made clear that the events of that show would tie into Olsen’s subsequent appearance as Wanda Maximoff in the feature film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
What Feige did not reveal — and what Disney carefully obscured in its marketing for the film right up to its release in theaters — is that Wanda doesn’t show up as Strange’s compatriot in “Multiverse of Madness”: She’s the villain.
At the end of “WandaVision,” Wanda fully accepts her identity as the Scarlet Witch, one of the most powerful wielders of magic in the universe.

Warning: spoilers ahead for "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness."
Every big post-"Avengers" superhero movie requires some suspension of disbelief. Where's everyone who could help this hero? Do they draw straws to take turns saving the world? In "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," the logistics of Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch's search for her family is even more confounding.
In the movie, Wanda Maximoff (Olsen) goes fully darksided while in pursuit of what she sees as the perfect alternate universe -- in which the kids she dreamed up in "WandaVision," Tommy and Billy (Jett Klyne and Julian Hilliard), exist and are...

“WandaVision” has the chance to dominate the 2021 Emmy nominations judging from its submissions on this year’s Emmy ballots. The show has 45 entries across categories — 46 if you count Best Documentary/Nonfiction Special contender “Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of WandaVision.” Scroll down to see the list.
This is the first TV series set fully in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — as opposed to Netflix shows like “Jessica Jones” and ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which were more tangentially connected to the MCU. So it has the chance to do for this blockbuster movie franchise what “The Mandalorian” did for “Star Wars” last year when it won seven Emmys out of 15 nominations.

This article contains WandaVision spoilers.
The final episode of WandaVision is here, and it’s 45 minutes of big screen Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster chaos magic action…but on the small screen. And while pound for pound it’s a little lighter on Marvel Comics and MCU Easter eggs than what we’ve seen in previous weeks, there’s still Plenty to dig in to and fun things you might have missed.
In particular, this episode sets up at least two upcoming big screen adventures with both Captain Marvel 2 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But there’s elements from WandaVision that will also resonate in future MCU TV series on Disney+ as well.
Let’s get to work…and if you spot anything we missed, let us know in the comments!
Scarlet Witch Wanda gets her first official, full blown Scarlet Witch costume in this episode, and it looks really great.

This article contains spoilers for the WandaVision finale.
Please stand by.
In the season finale of Marvel’s Wanda Maximoff and Vision spinoff WandaVision, there were inevitable showdowns between two very badass witches and two surprisingly conversational synthezoids. Unanswered questions and tantalising post credits scenes lay ahead. But there was also a little disappointment in store for those fans who hoped there would be a major cameo appearance in the finale, or a possible entry point for the X-Men in the MCU.
We began the final episode right where we left off in the penultimate one, as Wanda and Agatha discovered the extent of each other’s powers. Agatha quickly revealed how easily she was able to absorb Wanda’s magic, which was inexorably amplified by Strucker’s Mind Stone experiments pre-Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Wanda soon realized that she was a bit out of her depth facing...

You could say it all started with one Paul William Bettany.
Last month, the star of Marvel’s WandaVision got fans’ attention when he started teasing a new character arriving in the MCU spinoff series that had miraculously survived online leaks, which in turn meant that Evan Peters’ “Pietro” Maximoff definitely wasn’t who he was referring to.
“There is one character that has not been revealed,” Bettany told Esquire. “And it is very exciting. It is an actor I’ve longed to work with all of my life. We have some amazing scenes together and I think the chemistry between us is extraordinary and fireworks on set.”
The internet immediately got busy trying to work out exactly who Bettany was chatting about, and which character from Marvel Comics they could be playing. Robert De Niro as Mephisto? Keanu Reeves as Nightmare? It must be someone big and important,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched Season 1, Episode 6 of Disney Plus’ “WandaVision.”
The last time we caught up with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) quirky adventures through television eras, we were in the curly and corny and colorful 1980s, dealing with superpowered and superaging twins, Vision’s growing consciousness of the anomalies of “WandaVision,” a dog that died for the bogus reason of eating too many of the next-door sorceresses’ azalea leaves and Wanda breaking her own fourth wall to confront S.W.O.R.D.
The sixth episode of “WandaVision” was just as replete with sitcom zaniness — heavily inspired by the early aughts Fox series “Malcolm in the Middle” — and with scenes of the investigative research of agents and scientists-gone-rogue. But that also means that this episode has left us with, yes, you guessed it, a bunch of puzzles to crack.

This WandaVision review contains spoilers.
WandaVision Episode 6
Ah, remember last week? When you were living in the glowing warmth of corporate synergy? When Disney’s ownership of Fox meant that, aside from essentially creating a monopoly, the company could also finally introduce the X-Men into the MCU? What a wild time. And in the wake of that utterly satisfying and enjoyable reveal, we now find Westview changed once again. The ’90s never happened and instead the Visions are living in what seems to be the year 2000.
It’s Halloween and the family is preparing for the big night. If you’re keeping count, Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy (Jett Klyne) are still around 10 years old. The recently arrived Uncle Pietro is crashing on the couch, and Vision (Paul Bettany) and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) seem to be back to normal. Or at least that’s what Vision wants Wanda to think.

For his first two features, Brandon Christensen has given us a pair of nightmarish examinations of parental paranoia with Still/Born and Z, with the latter officially headed onto Blu-ray and DVD this week, courtesy of Rlje Films and Shudder (it’s also now available on a variety of Digital platforms). Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to speak with Christensen and he discussed the inspiration behind the story of Z, the challenges of making “nothing” scary, collaborating with the film’s star Keegan Connor Tracy, and more.
Great to speak with you again, Brandon. You and Colin [Minihan] have collaborated together a few times now. I was hoping you could start off by discussing the process behind putting this story together for Z in particular, and how different that process was for you both this time around versus Still/Born.
Brandon Christensen: With Still/Born, Colin and I were both there from the beginning.

The creepy kid horror canon is extensive. Often paired with the possession film or another supernatural subgenre, many of these pictures look to mine the common fear of a child with innate evil. For parents, they also tap into the fear that your child is not turning the way you imagined they would–in fact, they may be utterly psychotic.
Co-writer and director Brandon Christensen initially codes his second feature, Z, so that it fits neatly into these trappings. It’s apparent right out of the gate: a textural montage of Joshua (Jett Klyne) illustrates the cerebral and visceral immersion of childhood, where toy planes and trains roar to life with all the hums and throttles of their real-life counterparts. This opening also injects the tiniest hint of menace into youth, quickly teasing tension and the threat of violence before snapping it away.

Many of us have a childhood memory of a monster that we were convinced lived in the closet, under our bed, or in a particularly shadowy corner of our room. It’s funny how, as we age, the shadows simply become shadows and our fears slowly fade. Suppose, however, that the specter in the shadows never really went away… we just no longer had the imagination to see him.
Z chillingly challenges the idea that we can outgrow our deepest fears. The cynicism of adulthood can’t necessarily save you from the things that go bump in the night and our greatest traumas have the power to haunt us forever. Z blurs the line between what is real and what is imagination… and it’s a nightmare.

"He saw you, too..." Shudder has released an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled simply Z, the latest from director Brandon Christensen (of 2017's Still/Born previously). This originally premiered at the Overlook Film Festival last year, and is debuting to watch on Shudder this May. A family find themselves terrorized by their eight-year-old son's imaginary (or not?) friend that he calls "Z". Another tale of "parental terror" from the filmmaker behind Still/Born. The film stars Keegan Connor Tracy, Jett Klyne, Sean Rogerson, Sara Canning, and Stephen McHattie. It doesn't particularly seem like anything we haven't seen before, but the creepy monster reveal is a bit jolting. Horror fans definitely don't want to miss this one. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Brandon Christensen's Z movie, direct from YouTube: A couple is shaken to the core when their 8-year-old son begins hanging out with a creepy and ominous imaginary friend.

Tagline: "Z Wants to Play." Z is the name of an imaginary? monster. Z is also the title to Shudder's latest horror acquisition. From director Brandon Christensen (Still/Born) and writer Colin Minihan, this feature focuses on a young boy and the terror he materializes into reality. Shudder will release this intriguing film in May, Mother's Day weekend. As well, the film stars: Keegan Connor Tracy ("Bates Motel"), Sean Rogerson (Grave Encounters), Jett Klyne and Stephen McHattie. Shot in Canada, the film's available release details are hosted here. The film's trailer shows Joshua (Klyne) and the creature that stalks him. First, it appears as a drawing. Then, it takes a human-like form as it terrorizes an entire family. But, how is this monster coming into existence? Director Christensen has talked about his latest film. Christensen says of the characters: "with Z, we once again have a film about a tortured mother and father,...
