“The Kissing Booth” actor Taylor Zakhar Perez says he was surprised by co-star Jacob Elordi’s criticism of the rom-com franchise.

“I thought it was a shame because to my knowledge, everybody else had such a wonderful experience,” Perez told me Thursday at the GQ Men of the Year party at Bar Marmont in West Hollywood.

“It’s a shame that was his experience on the set. Especially when those movies came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that,” he said, alluding to the Covid pandemic. “I know from our fan interactions, getting stopped everywhere I go, what ‘Kissing Booth’ means to people and what it brought them during such a dark time. I guess the silver lining is he still made people laugh and feel good.”

The Sony Pictures project, based on Kotaro Isaka’s Japanese novel “Maria Beetle,” will be directed by David Leitch from a script by Zak Olkewicz.

Leitch and Kelly McCormick will produce “Bullet Train” through 87North, along with Antoine Fuqua. Kat Samick is executive producing with Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada of Ctb Inc., who represent Isak.

The trailer for the Netflix sequel, which dropped Monday, picks up exactly where the first movie left off. After deciding to date her best friend Lee's older brother Noah (Jacob Elordi), Elle spends the summer with Noah until Harvard's fall semester brings their days together to a halt. Netflix's teen rom-com The Kissing Booth is getting a sequel, but when does it actually come out? We still don't have an official release date for The Kissing Booth 2, but it's definitely slated for sometime this year and, most likely, in the first half of the year.

What we do know is that principal photography for the sequel wrapped up all the way back in August 2019. Star Joey King posted a wrap-day photo to Twitter on Aug. 17, captioning it, "A pile of clothes, 5 deflated birthday balloons, a covered tattoo, a wig and my last day as Elle Evans in South Africa. Thanks for the memories."

Filming for The Kissing Booth sequel has officially wrapped, and Joey King is getting candid about what it was like working with ex-boyfriend Jacob Elordi again. While on the Mood With Lauren Elizabeth podcast this week, King (Elle Evans) said having an onscreen romance with Elordi (Noah Flynn) was a "sacrifice" she had to make.

"Playing Elle Evans was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life," King said. "Kissing Booth one is always going to be one of my favorite experiences I've ever had, so getting to jump back in was superexciting for me, but I was nervous because of how much my world had changed as far as how to hit comedy beats and where my mind was going."

Premiering on March 20, the anthology series debuts with a case about Dee Dee Blanchard, a seemingly devoted mother, and her daughter Gypsy Rose, who she claims suffers from a slew of illnesses. The mother-daughter bond eventually deteriorates and ends with murder. Dee Dee will be played by Patricia Arquette, who's fresh off of her role from Ben Stiller's Escape From Dannemora.

The star DJ and music producer will take over from John Cena as host of the “Kids’ Choice Awards” next month, Nickelodeon announced on Tuesday.

Netflix has come out with a video announcing the sequel to it’s popular original film, The Kissing Booth. The first film was based on the popular Ya novel by Beth Reekles, who was just 15 when she wrote it. The story follows 16-year old Elle Evans, played by Joey King, who has never been kissed, and has to confront her secret crush at a kissing booth.

The Kissing Booth was the most rewatched Netflix movie ever, and many of the same users who have rewatched it have also watched and rewatched the Ya hit To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which is also getting a sequel made for Netflix. We don’t have any plot details just yet, but we do know that King will be back in the role of Elle, and will be joined by Joel Courtney and Jacob Elordi.

Netflix said it is making a sequel to The Kissing Booth, the original film it released last year on the streaming service based on Beth Reekles’ smash self-published YA book. The Kissing Booth 2 is now in production with stars Joey King, Joel Courtney and Jacob Elordi all back.

Netflix said in December The Kissing Booth was its most-re-watched original movie of 2018, noting half of all viewers who watched it and fellow YA hit To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before re-watched them at least once. To All the Boys is also getting a sequel.

Vince Marcello (Teen Beach Movie) returns to direct Kissing Booth 2 from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jay Arnold. The Komixx Entertainment Inc pic is being produced by Marcello, Michele Weisler, Andrew Cole-Bulgina and Edward Glauser.
