- Sumana Amarasinghe wurde am 21 Februar 1948 in Katugastota, Kandy, Ceylon geboren. Sie war Schauspielerin und Aufnahmeleiterin, bekannt für Sihina Lowak Soya, Sansara Prarthana (2002) und Tom Pachayo (2016). Sie war mit Roy de Silva verheiratet. Sie starb am 5 Juni 2022 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

- She was also the only actress to contribute to the production, singing, co-directing and co-editing of Sri Lankan cinema.

- She worked at her own beauty shop, Salon Sumana. As a livelihood, she ran 'Salon Sumana' beauty salons in all three cities, Moratuwa, Thalahena and Rajagiriya.
- She acted in many films and won the most popular actress award on several occasions.
- She first went to the Mount Lavinia Buddhist Girls' College and later to Kalubowila Buddhaghosha Maha Vidyalaya.
