Something very strange happened on December 6th, 2024. This was originally going to be the release date for the Lucy Hale lead F Marry Kill, but at the last minute, Lionsgate delayed the film. Only one problem: no one told the digital retailers. So on that early December day, the film was digitally released to the masses. They were able to rectify the mistake and promptly pulled it from those retailers, but the internet is forever, and copies got out there. In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actress Virginia Gardner shared her experience working with Lucy Hale on her new movie F- Marry Kill, an adventure-comedy that follows a true-crime obsessive as she tries to figure out which one of the three men she met on a dating app is a serial killer. Reflecting on what drew her to the role, Gardner told uInterview founder Erik Meers, “I’d never done a character like Kelly before on many different levels, so it was really fun to play with a character that I had never done anything similar to before and I love that kind of a challenge. I also love true crime and I like genre-bending movies and I like things that kind of feel really unique in that sense…and as soon as I started the script I was obsessed with who the killer was, it’s such a fun read.

Just in time for Halloween, a trailer for the BuzzFeed Studios-produced comedy thriller F Marry Kill made its way online (you can watch it in the embed above), and at that time the film was set to receive a digital, VOD, and limited theatrical release on December 6th. Since then, the release was pushed back to sometime in March in an effort to align the domestic release with its international roll-out… but some of the PVOD platforms didn’t get the message. As Deadline reports, F Marry Kill reached some digital stores and PVOD on December 6th, then disappeared a few hours later. So if you managed to catch the movie during that brief window last Friday – congratulations, you got a special sneak peek! If you didn’t catch it, there’s still three months left to wait for it.

What went on here? Is Lionsgate’s AI to blame? No, not at all.

Apparently, the R-rated Laura Murphy-directed title originally was scheduled for a December 6 drop, and fans were expecting it. But the release date changed a few weeks ago, and that message clearly didn’t get through to the PVOD platforms, hence the glitch.

Lionsgate isn’t burying or short-changing the movie, which is coming out via its theatrical day-and-date release label Lionsgate Premiere Releasing. The release-date change is an effort to align the movie with its international roll\out in March. We’re told that a recent screening, the filmmaker announced to attendees that they could expect to see F*** Marry Kill in March.

Wait! We need to clear some things up about this movie first. It's not actually a remake. It was initially believed to be one, but instead, it's a sequel to The Breed. It's also been given an official title, A Breed Apart.

While remakes can be hit-or-miss, we hope that the upcoming remake of the natural horror film The Breed does the original 2006 movie justice. We first learned of this film back in May 2024, and more information has come out since then.

The Breed is set to be directed and produced by filmmaking brothers Nathan and Griff Furst. They previously helmed the horror action film Nightmare Shark. They will produce this horror flick through their film production company, Curmudgeon Films, which will also be handling sales across the Americas. Additionally, the movie will be co-produced and financed by Daro Film Distribution, which also represents the international rights to the film. It's unknown who will be writing the script, though.

With a sequel to the fear-of-heights thriller Fall on the way, Variety reports this week that the two stars of the 2022 movie will reunite for the upcoming remake of The Breed, a new take on the killer dog horror movie that was produced by Wes Craven back in 2006.

Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey will star alongside Page Kennedy (The Meg) in the remake that’s being directed by filmmaking brothers Sean and Bryan Furst.

The remake is described as “an unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic,” though again the original movie wasn’t directed by Craven and isn’t quite a cult classic.

In any event, Curmudgeon Films will be producing The Breed. In the fresh take on the 2006 horror movie, “Violet [Grace Caroline Currey] is a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

After working together on the 2022 thriller Fall, actors Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Curry reunite for a remake of the cult classic survival horror film The Breed. This will be the second time they have worked together in the thriller genre.

The 2006 Wes Craven-produced film The Breed followed a group of friends attempting to survive a pack of rabid dogs residing on an island inherited by brothers John and Matt, originally played by Oliver Hudson and Eric Lively. Deadline reports that the remake will be a reimagining of the original film and will thus be a different take on the source material. With the success of Fall, The Breed will see Gardner and Curry once again teaming up to take on the thriller genre. Along with Gardner and Curry, the remakes cast features actor Page Kennedy, known for his role in The Meg.

Exclusive: Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey scaled a 2,000-foot communications tower in Fall and will now face-off against wild dogs in The Breed.

Gardner has joined the survival pic, reuniting her with Currey (Shazam!) who had already signed on. She played Karolina Dean in Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu and Vicky in David Gordon Green’s Halloween. She also starred in Project Almanac and the Beautiful series.

Gardner and Currey co-starred in Scott Mann’s vertigo thriller Fall. After the success of the first film a sequel is in the works.

The Breed is billed as an unconventional reimagining of the cult Wes Craven-produced movie of the same name. Brothers Nathan and Griff Furst are directing. They also produce the film under their Curmudgeon Films banner. Daro Film Distribution is co-producing and financing. Filming in Guatemala, the film is expected to be released in 2025.

When the trailer for Fall debuted, it was safe to say the concept was totally ridiculous. It focused on Grace Caroline Currey's Becky and Virginia Gardner's Hunter scaling a 2000-foot radio tower in the middle of the desert, with the former hoping to get over her husband's tragic death and the latter doing it for social media clout, similar to the premise of Not Okay.

Still, the movie grounded itself in a sense of optimism as it unfolded, following science and logic despite Becky and Hunter's ridiculous plans. Unfortunately, common sense was a rare find in the movie, with Fall crashing badly through a series of plot holes and unanswered questions.

Following the successful survival thriller Fall released in 2022 by Lionsgate, Fall 2 will reunite producers Mark Lane and James Harris of Tea Shop Productions (47 Meters Down), Capstone’s Christian Mercuri, David Haring, and Scott Mann via the Flawless banner.

Dan Asma, John Long, and Roman Viaris will also reunite as executive producers alongside Capstone’s Ruzanna Kegeyan. Capstone will finance the sequel, with Fall 2 set to begin shooting in June 2024.

Capstone Global is handling worldwide rights to the franchise. In late 2023, Capstone Studios greenlit both Fall 2 and Fall 3 under the franchise. Mann will return to write and direct the third installment.
